I agree with you about the card. It must be a misprint. I think it is Merry and Eomer. But the picture still brings up some questions . . like . . what is Merry doing with Eomer? The problem with this being a picture of Merry and Eomer on the Pelennor is that it conflicts with the following images of an extremely distraught Merry being held by Pippin on the battlefield:

As you can see by the first picture there is a battle raging around these two . . so how can Merry be standing beside Eomer on the Pelennor with no signs of battle about them?

A separate issue is that there have been spoilers which indicated that Merry will be present at the Black Gate. Although, I cannot imagine why he is there. A few years ago a cast call list was published on TORN showing that Dominic Monaghan was present at the Black Gate during filming. That's all I know. :rolleyes:

There is no MoS in the theatrical cut. Yes, it's disappointing and yes, there will be a backlash from the purists (and maybe even from some reviewers) but we all know that we are going to love this final LOTR film no matter how much it deviates from the books, so let's just get on with it.

Also, since this is his wedding he needs to wear somthing more regal and dashing. The armor he wears at the black gate is his war armor.

I believe Faramir wore someting similair to that in the wedding that was filmed between he and Eowyn. Wasn't as nice, obviously because he is only now the steward of Gondor and Prince of Ithlien, but nice enough.

Yeah, that new picture of Sam crying is definitely cool but I really don't like Sean Astin anymore. His immaturity and arrogance on the TTT EE DVD (including cast commentary) have made me wash my hands of him. :mad:

I was glad to hear that when he went up to George Lucas at the MTV Movie Awards and arrogantly proclaimed: "Hi, I'm Sean Astin...you know, Sam from LOTR", Lucas had a puzzled look on his face and said..."oh...well...you hobbits all look alike to me."

Faramir is trying to live up to unrealistic expectations of his father. So when Denethor says "Go retake Osgiliath" Faramir knows immediately that it's a suicide mission. He goes only in spite of his father, and to show that he is as brave as Boromir. Also, it took Faramir's near-death to finally wake Denethor up....

Merry and Pippin were the ones who were given the daggers. aragorn wasn't given anything (other than the cloak)(in the film) as Galadriel said" i have nothing greater to give"(referring to the Evenstar"

Denethor did have a sword adt100. he only showed it in the books when going to the Pyre. i dunno about Merry and Pippin still having their daggers, as one of the belts was taken by the orc that chased them into the forest, and Gimli later found it on the pile of carcasses, but i don't think that the dagger was in the sheath on the pile. so they could have them, but there's sufficient evidence to say what happened to them if they're not in ROTK
