Well, that's the last of the pictures I'm going to post. It's taken over 1 hour to see all 365 pictures, but it's worth it if you have the time (and patience!) :D

I have a question..

There is a decipher card of Elrond with a movie quote that says: "Onen i-estel Edain". Could someone please tell me, what this means? I no of course estel means hope and Edain means men or human, but what does the entire phrase mean?

Thanks in advance!

My friend ordered the game and got the shock of her life when it arrived 2 days ago. She's already unlocked a bunch of stuff and is recording it all to DVD for me. New Legolas stuff *yay* and interviews so far. If someone else hasn't done it by the time she finishes the game, I'll make caps from the clips she sends me.

Hmm... well, 'estel' is hope, because that's what Aragorn was named when he was raised in Rivendell. Only when he reached his twenties was his real identity known....

Wait, I don't have a book handy so someone else can check. But is "Onen i-estel Edain" Aragorn's mother's dying words? "I gave all my hope to the Edain" and "I have kept none for myself"? Sorry HB, I'll check this out later.

I dont think so that quote at the bottom is from the book, its when Faramir and Eowyn are talking in the garden of the houses of healing
In the ROTK preview Theoden said that at night and also i think Theoden would be wearing a crown or some thing

Brock Landers
11-07-2003, 03:42 PM
I think it looks like Faramir and Eowyn.

The outfit the supposed FARAMIR is wearing matches the one from the mini-trailer at the end of 10 minute preview of ROTK("my lord, Osgiliath is overrun"). Go check it out, the two outfits like a LOT alike! It's Faramir's non-military outfit, his leisure suit. Ofcourse he'd be wearing his leisure suit in the Houses of Healing.

Well, the outfit also looks EXACTLY like the one Theoden is wearing in some of the ROTK scenes we haven seen so far, so that won't get us any further. :D Also check out the backround of that picture. This place looks nowhere near the Houses of Healing - in fact this is a CAMP. Taking into consideration the 20 min of ROTK that some folks have seen already (like Jedi), that could be the Eowyn/Theoden-Scene they were talking about. I am telling you - this is THEODEN....

Take another look at his outfit:

I'm not being big headed, arrogant, or anything like that when I say this, but for goodness sake! I sometimes wonder if people need glasses when viewing these spoiler pics.

I saw on another forum that some people where thinking it was Faramir and Eowyn, but as Hope Burns says, it's Eowyn and Theoden, in Dunharrow, around the time of the scene in the preview ('I would have you smile again'). It's totally obvious as far as I'm concerned.

I suppose. I just find it funny sometimes when something like that appears to be so obvious.

It's like those optical illusion type pictures though I suppose. Some times you can see the image(s) instantly, the other times the more and more you look at it, the less you can actually see what's right in front of your face!

... or those terrible 3D-pictures a few years back, remember those? Used to drive me nuts. You had to look at them closely - in other words tie your eyeballs in a knot for like 10 min and eventually where supposed to see a completely new picture hidden behind the original one  Can't say I am sad they vanished after some time - those headaches were killing me! :D

what site shows all 365 and I have a question ok I thought that The orcs on the Pelennor fields came from the black gates or did they come from Minas Morgul. Because I thought Minas Morgul would be to small for an army of 200,000 to pass through.

adt100
11-08-2003, 03:28 PM
The Orcs at the Pelennor come via Minas Morgul and through the Morgul Vale.

Look at it this way, 200k is only the size of 2 very large sports stadiums.

DolAmroth
11-08-2003, 03:31 PM
No cause remember in TTT. When Faramir and that other guy were looking at that map of Me. "We must look to our own borders, Faramir orcs are on the move Sarouns massing an army orcs and easterlings are passing through the black gates." "how many some thousands more come every day"

So that must mean that some of the army came from MM and some came from the black gates.

No, they're passing THROUGH, they're coming in, not out! The Army that the Witch King leads comes from Minas Morgul, HIS city. If you remember the books Sam and Frodo and Gollum witness them leaving......

adt100
11-08-2003, 03:57 PM
That's correct Brock. The Easterlings in TTT are passing into Mordor throught the Black Gates rather than the other way round. From other encampments and fortress within Mordor the Orcs are divided between those going to the Black Gates and thos to MM.

DolAmroth

Gollum says in the TTT (film) that 'Sauron is gathering all armies to him .. ready to make his war' (or something like that.) Hence we have Easterlings, Southrons etc, moving into Mordor through the Black Gates.

When the Wiki is ready to lead the first full assault on MT (signalled from BD) he sets out with his vast army from MM.

downflow311
11-08-2003, 04:50 PM
then is that why Minas Morgul is signaling back in the trailer adt? (a la the big green light)

just for one night? if it was a dog, you could tie it up, but for an Oliphaunt you wuold need a damn big rope, and something damn heavy to tie it to.

also, what do Oliphauhts eat? cos it would eat a lot, that's what i'm guessing

DolAmroth
11-08-2003, 07:19 PM

Hi, all!

Elflady just posted these pictures from the ROTK EA GAMES PS2 at the Council-of-Elrond:

"BeastyBunny finished playing the EA Games PS2 ROTK game and unlocked all the interviews and clips. She's in the process of copying stuff to DVD's for me and here's a few pics I pulled off the first disc she sent me."

Here are some major ROTK dialogue spoilers from TORN:

HavenSpy Strider compiled this amazing overview of spoilers from EA's Return of the King game. And although a game is not a movie - and there could be some variation in the film - these make very interesting reading indeed! This first lot is just for Aragorn and Frodo, expect more soon!
As Gimli:

1. Saruman's Death

Saruman does his talk with Theoden/Company. Then Theoden says something to Wormtongue and Saruman says to Worm that he killed Theodred by putting poison in his food.

Saruman:"And you always do exactly as I say, don't you Worm?"
Worm: "Nooooooo!"

Then we see Saruman fall of of Orthanc and die.

2. The Visit of Elrond In Dunharrow, before they go to the Paths of the Dead, Elrond talks to Aragorn.

Elrond: "Your Path does not lie with the others, Aragorn. The man who wields the power of Isildur's sword can summon an army more deadly than anything that walks the earth...every path you have trod, through wilderness, through war, has led you to this road."
Aragorn: "So be it, I will visit these Paths of the Dead"

3. Encounter with the King of the Dead After fighting many shades (floating, blue, and transparent warriors, and some skeletons), Aragorn has this conversation with the King of the Dead...

King: "Who enters my domain???"
Aragorn: "One who would hold you to your oath"
King: "The Dead do not suffer the living to pass!" (more shades appear and fight)
Aragorn: "You will suffer me!"
King: "Brave fool! Let the abyss take you!" (many skeletons appear)
Aragorn: "I will defeat your warriors, then come for you!" (fight with the skeletons)
Aragorn: "I summon you to fulfill your oath!"
King: None but the King of Gondor may command me!
Aragorn: Then I command you, for I am Isildur's heir.

Afterwards, the company takes a shortcut through the White Mountains to the Corsairs of Umbar. They capture their ships and with the help of the Dead, defeat the orcs at the Minas Tirith docks.

At the gates of Mordor, Gimli fights the Mouth of Sauron (prob. just a game adaption :) And that is it for Gimli.

As Frodo:

Gollum: "Nassty Hobbittsess. Wicked, tricksey, false. She is hungry, perhaps they could appease her appetite."
Sam: "Frodo! I heard it from his own mouth...he means to murder us!
Gollum: "Never! Smeagol wouldn't hurt a fly! He's a fat, horrid Hobbit, who hates Smeagol, who makes up nasssty lies."
Sam: "You miserable little maggot! I'm going to stove your head in!"
Frodo: "Leave him alone! If you scare him off, we are lost."
Sam: "You don't see it, he's leading us into a trap! Gandalf would not have chosen this way."
Frodo: "Gandalf is gone, come, Smeagol, show us the way.

Later on the stairs of Cirith Ungol ...

Gollum: "Clever Hobbitses to climb so high. Very clever Hobbitses. Only a few more stairs to go before we reach the top"
Sam: (to Gollum) "What are we up to? Sneaking off, are we?"
Gollum: "Sneaking? Fat Hobbit is always so polite. Smeagol shows them secret ways that nobody else could find and they say "sneak", "Sneak!" Very nice friends, oh yes, my precious, very nice."
Sam: "Alright, alright. You startled me was all. What were you doing?"
Gollum: "Sneaking"

Later on...

Sam: "Mr. Frodo?"
Frodo: "I'm alright." Sam: You are not alright! You're exausted! It's that Gollum, it's this place, it's that thing around your neck. Let me help you with it...I could carry it for awhile."
Frodo: "Get away from me!"
Sam: "I don't want to keep it,...I just want to help!"
Gollum: "See! See! He wants it for himself!
Frodo: "No...It's you, Sam. You can't help me anymore. I'm sorry, Sam. Go home.
Sam: "But...Gollum's a liar...he's poisened you against me.
Frodo: "Go home!" Sam leaves the screen while Frodo and Gollum continue on.

Later Frodo enters Shelob's lair.

Frodo: "Smeagol? What was that? Smeagol? Sees Sheolob
Frodo: "Sam! Sam!" runs out of the lair Shelob ambushes him, and stings him.

Sam comes to the rescue and beats Shelob. Two orcs take Frodo and Sam promises to rescue him. I did notice the watchers, but nothing special happened. Sam goes to the tower and finds the two orcs fighting (forgot their names), kills them and resues Frodo. Asks again if he can help with the ring, and is refused.

At Mount Doom...

Sam: "Frodo! Destroy it, now, do it! Throw it in the fire!"
Frodo: "I have made my choice. I will not destroy it...the Ring is mine.
Gollum: "Precious! My Precious! Filthy Baggins!"
Frodo: "Nooooo!"

Gollum fights Sam, Frodo puts on the ring, fights with Gollum, Gollum takes the ring and falls into the Crack of Doom.

Frodo: "Sam! It's gone...it is done."
Sam: "Yes, Mr. Frodo. It's over now."
Frodo: "I'm glad to be here with you Samwise Gamgee...here at the end of all things."

Then two eagles fly to them, and that is the end.

More to come from Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Eowyn!

When I saw the first 2 pictures in this group of 4 I thought they looked a bit odd, as if they could be a clever photoshop job. When I saw the second 2 however they pretty much convinced me that they are of you you think they are, Frodo.

I head/read somewhere recently that there had been plans (abandoned now?) to have a 'Bilbo/Gollum' moment with Frodo in Cirith Ungol, after he had been roused by Sam and offered help to carry the burden of the Ring.

Considering the cloak he is wearing and the terrain though, the only place I can assume this scene is from is on the climb from Minas Morgul to Cirith Ungol. Maybe around the time of the Wiki issuing forth his army, compelling Frodo to put on the Ring?

so how come he didn't change?

PsYkOoOoO
11-13-2003, 08:05 AM
i think its because the burden on frodo is wayyy bigger...in the sense that bilbo didnt know where the ring came from and stuff...until rivendell...he always thought it belonged to gollum..whereas frodo knows that it belongs to sauron...and that he has to go to mordor to destroy it..the emotional burden is wayyy bigger and heavier to carry...that might have caused that to happen...also because maybe frodo knows what the ring can do...the power it has...therefore the desire for it is greater..causing him to become sorta like gollum...and maybe those pictures we saw in the previous page will only appear for a few seconds on screen like in FOTR when bilbo tried to take the ring from frodo...but maybe in frodo's case it will be a little longer...probably in cirith Ungol when sam offers to carry the ring for him...just a thought..:)

adt100
11-13-2003, 08:06 AM
I'm pretty sure it's just for a brief SFX shot like Bilbo in Rivendell (when he tried to grasp the Ring from Frodo).

The only scene that I could really think of it applying to Frodo though is in the tower of Cirith Ungol, when he demands the Ring back from Sam.

Edit: looks like PsYkOoOo got there before me!

The cloak and the rocks make me thinks it's on the way to CU though, and the only time I can think of is the scene when the Witch King issues forth his army from Minas Morgul. Frodo is compelled to put on the Ring then (but doesn't). That effect would seem a bit OTT for that moment though. Maybe they haven't used it in the final cut.

Why don't you think it was from the scene with Faramir after the Forbidden Pool section when he tries to snatch the Ring? Frodo yells: "No!" and pulls the Ring back away from Faramir's sword and runs over to the back of the caves, clutching onto the darkened rocks. I think it was from that bit. :clown:

No. It was an idea originally planned for the TTT, like Smeagol says, when Faramir comes over to Frodo and Sam in the cave at Henneth Anun. He realises Frodo has the Ring of power, and there was going to be a Bilbo/Gollum like moment with Frodo.

It must be from the TTT EE appendices. My mistake. :o

Also the closer they get to Mt Doom the bigger the Ring's power gets. It takes a quicker/easier hold as it grows stronger.

My mistake. :o

Yes, I just read the same thing on a German message board. Appearently, we will be able to see those scenes on either disk 3 or 4 of the TTT SEE together with other scenes that never made it into the movie (like Xenia-Arwen at Helm's Deep).

UPDATE: TORN just confirmed this in the news section.

You don't think that Frodo will be in the whole movie like that do you? That'd be a little too freaky.

He probably sees himself like that in a scene. Or maybe what happens is that there is a spark of lava or something, and for a second Sam sees Frodo like that, and then he's back to normal! That'd be cool.

As mentioned above: He will NOT be like that in the movie AT ALL - those scenes where Faramir has a vision of Frodo turning into a kind of Gollum were CUT from the movie. We will only get to see them amongst other deleted scenes (like Arwen at HP) on the SEE as part of the bonus material. So... never fear. ;)

Over at TORN it mentions "Our friends over at Council of Elrond have this set of screencaps from the Towers EE. It's a deleted scene involving Frodo, and also shows Elijah Wood getting made up for it. Credit for the screencaps goes to Ringer Teldil", but I can't see the pictures anywhere in the C-of-E picture thread. And I know I didn't get them from there.

im sure we will get another super extended edition with that scene in it in the years to come.

No we won't. They cut it out because they obviously didn't want to play that scene in that way, so we have it with Frodo reacting the way we see. No freaky Frodo/Gollum moment.

do you know that for a fact. im sure New Line will release something along those lines in the future. every studio takes advantage of opprotunities like that.

I know that every indiciation we have, and logic itself, indicates we won't have an updated version of the film. There is simply no need whatsoever with the Special Extended Edition.

Secondly however, I know that that scene in particular you're referring to won't be put back into the film because it isn't an additional scene. It was simply a variation in effect of the scene we already saw, which PJ decided not to use because he obviously didn't think it worked. That's what film-making is all about. A film isn't simply cobbling together every single frame of film shot. If that were the case LOTR would be 100's of hours long of repeated scene after repeated scene.

So that part will be in the movie? I thought it was important because Frodo thinks he lost everything including the Ring, and he's on the edge of despair until Sam says that the Ring is safe.

I thought it would be too controversial to put in the movie though. But it's true to Tolkien at least!

You know, I could actually see one too, but in like 20 years as an anniversary special. They would pull together the cast and crew and reminisce and stuff. That would be cool.

I don't see one any time soon though.

Does it matter? This isn't a porn flick!

The Orcs stripped him for the Ring and then fought over the Mithril shirt. I'm sure they'll leave his trousers on.

Not likely at all. The rating for the film says nothing about nudity, it says something like pg 13 for epic violence. Male nudity is usually mentioned, and usually call for an R rating.

I am sure he will be "naked" but they won't show anything below the belt, prolly just what the card shows. I mean something like when Gandafl returned, they showed only his shoulders thankfully, they readers knew he was nude. I don't think that really makes anyone feel superior to only movie fans by knowing that fact but we do know it lol.

Unless:

-Sam runs towards Frodo, his face red from running and short of breath
-Frodo sees him and breathes a sigh of relief
-Sam looks at him quickly at first but then his gaze stands still
-Well, mr. Frodo, I guess there is another reason why you are the most famous of all hobbits

I don't think we'll see anything else until the TV Spots, which will probably begin hitting our screens in about 2 weeks.

That's because it's clearly got such a high compression ratio!

Where is this pic from I wonder. The ships certainly don't look the same as those sketched in the W&W book.

ILOVEKATIE

I hope thats not from the film, I always thought the ships would look diffrent than that, I thought they were going to be elvish like, you know... like the drawings we saw before

Fable

i doubt that's from the movie, PJ would be making a huge mistake if he made the ships look like a pirate ship.
