Here is a list of 20 people who have played a character named James Bond in a movie. (I'm serious, look it up) Who was the best?

Dalton is extremely underrated. if you've read the novels (flemming novels) you know that bond is very different than the connery version. not to mention the lazenby, moore and brosnan versions. dalton went back and read these books before taking the role and he did a hell of a job brining the original flemming character to life. bond is not a nice guy at all. he doesn't really like to kill and he's really not to fond of being a 00 agent at times. in the book CASINO ROYALE he only had ONE woman and he didn't even fire a gun. he was also a bastard. a sexist bastard at that.

You can't say that he IS James Bond. Did you create the character? The only person that can say who the definitive James Bond is, is Ian Flemming, and I don't think he's talking.
You can say that Brosnon is YOUR favorite, and I agree that he is a good Bond, but you can't say that he is the best choice. That is a matter of opinion.

Didn't Flemming once say that the person he thought would make the best bond was Roger Moore?

yes, that is true, fleming always wanted a true englishman to play bond, but moore was tied up with the saint, so he couldn't do it at the time

Well, going by what Kris says, Roger Moore IS James Bond.
I read somewhere that Flemming wrote the Bond novels with Moore in mind.

They just released that poster because Casino Royale was coming out around the same time as You Only Live Twice and they wanted to make sure that the audience knew that Sean Connery was the one and only James Bond. No imposters would be allowed.

each person has there own idea of who the best bond was, and i think the deciding factor is who was the first bond you saw,
for me the first bond film i can rememeber seeing was goldeneye, so brosnan will always be my favorite bond, however for my dad, his first bond film was dr.no so he loves sean connery, as for my older brother, his first was TSWLM, so he loves roger moore
it just depends on who you saw first as bond

hope I dont get flamed for this, but Dalton is my favorite bond actor. He was Ian Flemings bond. serious, and cold. I dont know why he's gotten such a bad wrap. he was very good, he looked like bond, and is a great actor.

dalton was most close to flemings bond, and while he was great, he's not my favorite, because brosnan and connery were just so much better
but dalton was much better than moore

Its definately NOT Roger Moore.
Moore had better scripts than Dalton and thats really the only way I can see someone putting Moore in front of Dalton.
Moore had ZERO acting range and when he kissed on screen he looking like a fish. Check it out the next time you watch a Roger Moore love scene where he kisses. He looks like a fish.
Apart from that, I really wonder what Lazenby would've done with the part had he made more than one flick. It seemed as if he was trying to be the hard edged Bond from the Fleming books, but was being directed to be the Connery type.

David Niven!!!
He was just so perfect for the role, and tried to get Flemmings books adapted, but had bad luck... Later on, EON made a Bond movie with Connery though...

Moore
Dalton would've never even been seen as Bond if Brosnan wasn't stuck with other obligations at the time the gig came available. He was the first choice as the replacement after Moore, but I believe Remington Steele had him on lock down.
As far as the choice for the "Celebrity Jeopardy" contestant, I'll leave you with this quote:

actually, in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS dvd special edition "making of" interview with tim dalton, he said that he was approached by ian flemming and cubby broccoli to star in LIVE AND LET DIE. he was the choice of the producers to succeed connery after DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. it was dalton who turned it down b/c he felt he was to young for the part. so dalton was chosen LONG before brosnan.

Dalton is the best. He played Bond the way he should be played, with raw emotion and ruthless actions. He still had some good humour but it wasn't overkill like in a Roger Moore Bond film.

Fleming later liked Sean Connery as Bond, although the literary versionw as much different. In his last couple of books the character even started to act a little bit more like Connery. However, as much as I like all the movie Bonds (except Moore) the closest to his version were Dalton and Lazenby.

You guys are joking right? Are you blind? Definitely woody allen. Come on! HE has all the charm, and he really knows how to woo the ladies. And is probably the only bond smart enough to use a ru*ber. Geez.

the hasn't been a GOOD bond film for at least fifteen years. I think "The living daylights" was the last decent one, and that was what, '87?
WTF has happened to this once great series?

Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill in "North by Northwest"

Actually the producers want the Bond films to be a cross between that movie and The Guns of Navarone. Cary Grant was also being considered for Bond at one time. He was also good friends with Cubby Broccoli.

Okay first of all, their was really be something wrong with you if you did not put Sean Connery on the list. But of the ones you posted I picked Pierce Brosnan. Roger Moore is also very good. Timothy Dalton sucks!

If you were to say someone IS James Bond, it has to be Sean Connery, hands down.
It's Connery far and away. If it weren't for him, Bond most likely wouldn't have been this worldwide movie monster.
1. Connery
2. Moore
3. Brosnan
4. Dalton
5. Lazenby
