Well, I better do the dishes this morning. Haven't done them since last Thursday. Since I've been at work nonstop the past week, they consist of:
1 bowl
1 spoon (Spaghetti-O's)
2 glasses (1 milk, 1 OJ)
1 fork (Pot Pie)
Ahh, the life of a bachelor! :D

I'm wondering, when you go to the dry cleaners, do all those clothes that are hanging behind the counter really belong to customers, or are they just there to make the place look like it gets a lot of business?

I was jsut realizing how excited that I am getting because my wife and I just bought our first house. We don't get to move in until the end of November. Well, it isn't even 100% sure that we are going to get the house, it has to pass inspection first. But I don't think that the inspector will find anything major. It will be nice to not have to live in an apartment for a change.

I got a call from my mother at 2:40 a.m. this morning. My uncle died. He had taken a turn for the worse yesterday afternoon, so they took him back to hospice (he was being treated at home for a while). Just a few hours later, he breathed his last breath. From what I've heard, he died peacefully, no pain. I'm thankful for that.
It's weird how that happens, you know. One moment you're breathing, and then....you aren't. That's a hard thing to understand. But I guess that's a big reason to believe in an afterlife. The body is left behind, but the soul, the spirit, has to go somewhere.

Its odd really. . . its a collection of poems he has made and put into his fiction work. . .
Its out on Ebook or you can just find a webpage with them listed.
In the fields of life, a harvest
sometimes comes far out of season,
when we thought the earth was old
and could see no earthly reason
to rise for work at break of dawn,
and put our muscles to the test.
With winter here and autumn gone,
it just seems best to rest, to rest.
But under winter fields so cold,
wait the dormant seeds of seasons
unborn, and so the heart does hold
hope that heals all bitter lesions.
In the fields of life, a harvest.

The funeral home handling my uncle's funeral had the body ready for viewing at 6:00 p.m.. I wasn't expecting to see the body so soon. They did a great job on him. Aside from obviously looking dead, he looked better than he had the last weeks of his life (he looked younger, didn't look like he was in any discomfort, etc). Still, it was like looking at a statue in a wax museum. Like you remember that person, down to the last detail, but no life in them. So bizarre.
And why does someone at a funeral always say "he/she looks so lifelike"? It's obvious they don't.

Actually, its supposed to be that you hate the sin, but love the sinner. Some so-called "Christians" seem to forget that. I think if those people were really true Christians, they wouldn't violently protest the thing with the gays and lesbians in public. IMO, that's just wrong. They should try to be calm and talk to the people, not try to shove a Bible down their throats, because by doing that, they're just turning people against them. Some Christians can be so hard-headed that they forget how things are really supposed to be. I try to be open-minded with things like this, though.

But I think that society as a whole pushes on the individuals the idea that we are supposed to look a certain way and act a certain way. How many children have been made fun of for being overweight? I work with mentally handicapped people and you wouldn't believe the number of adults I see pointing and snickering when they walk by. Adults, not teenagers or little kids. Until society as a whole learns to be more accepting of people who are different, the individuals will still be less accepting.

What bugs me is the fact that the most open-minded people are often ignored and branded close-minded by the people that really are close-minded. Simply because we have different views, that hurts that people can't accept that no two people are alike. We're all different..everyone needs to learn that and live with it. Acceptance is hard to come by these days.

I'm a psych major and I'm working on becoming a certified youth counselor and I've found that however you're brought up greatly influences your own acceptance. Your family, friends and society shpe how you view the others around you. It's very rare to find someone who actually doesn't judge someone without getting to know them first. Bottomline is you have to just be yourself and say screw everyone who says that's not ok
