WWE closing the World restaurant
Press Release
2/25/2003
STAMFORD, CONN. - World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. announced that effective today, it will close its restaurant located in New York City.
"We have ceased the restaurant operation as of today, but we will continue to operate the retail store until April 27, 2003," said Linda E. McMahon, Chief Executive Officer. "We will seek to sublease the facility and will work closely with the landlord's organization in this effort."
"We are reallocating resources to the continued growth of our global business, rather than focusing on a single, site-specific and local project," said Linda McMahon, Chief Executive Officer. "We will build shareholder value by continuing to create WWE branded products and programming which we can distribute on a worldwide basis."
WWE issued its third fiscal quarter earnings release today and will host a conference call Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. ET.
Mrs. McMahon lauded the effort of the restaurant's current management and employees. "We would like to personally thank each and every employee at the restaurant and at WWE for their hard work, commitment and passion for the business."

He must've hated himself then too. Have you seen pictures (or do you remember) of how small Vince was up until 6 years ago or so. He was a management type. Now look at him!!! He's friggen HUGE. Has to be steroids.
I remember the box art to the VHS tape of "No Way Out" (When Stone Cold faced Dude Love with Vince as a ref) and Jeez..Vince was.....well..big!

Yeah he has it easy, basically since he's always injured.
Another injury. Edge is already out. Orton and Batista appear to have injuries. Them not appearing last night supports that.Angle Injured (http://www.tsn.ca/wrestling/news_story.asp?ID=31538&hubName=wrestling)

Yeah, Rock's promos are better now that he's seen as a heel. He doesn't have to pander to the crowd with all the same old catch phrases, or say them the same way. That got boring, and so did he. He's much better as a heel than as a babyface.
Looks like Smackdown is going to have to make either Brock Lesner or Chris Benoit into the WWE champ, and fast. That show is really going to miss Kurt Angle while he's out for several months to a year. Is it just me, or are a lot of the bigger names prone to severe neck injuries lately (more than usual, anyway)?

I've posted this in other places... but here yeah go..
hopefully WWE doesn't panic like it did last year and try to restart the brand extenstion like they did last year. This could be good news if you think about it. WWE can make a new star/angle out of the situation.
Frist Edge, Batista and Orton... and now Angle who is the person who is secretly attacking and injuiring the wrestlers on both shows... could it be one of the wrestlers hired or somoene on the way in... WWE has a mystery on its hands and it could play out over the course of a couple of weeks on both shows...
And whomever they decide is ready to take the spot of a monster heel... or upcoming star.... can be put in a sure fire attention grabbing angle!
Maybe bring Goldberg (yuck I know...) in as a heel... injuring everyone (I know it ain't a stretch...) Goldberg/Lesnar... would do well. It could be explained having Goldberg stealing Lesnar's WM dream... to beat Lesnar and win the title... Goldberg took his dream away... And why did Goldberg do it? Simple... as he was sitting on his couch... he saw Lesnar who reminds him of himself dominating the buisness... when it should be him on top... him dominating the buisness.

Well the WWE has three more Smackdown! episodes to tape. If they bring Goldberg in next week they could salvage the main event at WM19. I don't want to see Goldberg, but the situation now, he's got the upper hand. Was it ever revealed who injured Edge? It was made out to look like Team Angle, but it could've been 'Goldberg'. Maybe Goldberg is on a mission to take out all the King of the Ring winners. Edge, Angle and Lesner is next! Something like that. Benoit would be the perfect replacement wrestling wise but Benoit would have to turn heel and that don't make sense. Some kind of tournament could work. This sucks, not only do they lose him for WM, but for a entire year. This was the best angle they've done in a long time. Atleast we'll probably see the title match on Smackdown next week.
MysteryStar
03-05-2003, 05:45 PM
I don't think Benoit needs to turn heel if he was going to take on Lesnar.
I mean they are not going to suddenly boo him because he is facing Lesnar, especially since he's earned the respect of everyone and everything.
I see them giving into Goldberg so he takes on Lesnar, Benoit and Rhyno taking on Team Angle.
But if it was Benoit, they could build it up as a respect thing between him and Lesnar say after a tournament or something where Benoit wins the spot at WM...
slinger
03-05-2003, 09:16 PM
That would be good and wouldn't mind it, but it would be better with a heel vs. face match. Plus a Heel-Benoit is better than a Face-Benoit. Pretty much like every wrestler.

They can't just surprise everyone... they have to promote his appearence. This is the buisness part of planning... you aren't going to waste Goldberg's appearence on a suprise when you can promote him coming in next week or WM and get a bigger rating or buyrate.

I seriously hope they don't bring in Goldberg ever. He would be a waste just like BPP imo. Also I don't think Benoit has enough personality to carry SD and neither does Brock.

Well if they sign him over the weekend, you can annouce it next week at the end of the show and then on the 20th he shows up and the match is signed. 27th he attacks Lesner. 30th is WM19. But I wouldn't want to see that.
Angle could be injured from a Lesner attack, thus the title is vacant and have a tourney. Benoit has lost cleanly to Angle twice perhaps they can use that.

It doesn't work that way because it's not ECW man. You have to be able to carry the company on the mic and in the ring to be champion. They have to carry the entire show man and that is why guys like Rock, Jericho, HHH(although he's gone down since the joining with Flair crap),Kurt and Edge can carry the company. Benoit is good at what he does but he has never even come close to being the man in a fed. Brock is the same deal. It's a business first and foremost

Benoit is over huge without a manager and without having to cut promo's every week. I mean just look at the pops he has been getting each week on smackdown.
I think if they were going to give the belt to Benoit it should be now since of how over he is. But I don't see it happening, Lesnar is the one winning the belt next week and Lesnar is the one retaining at WM against whoever he goes against. It was obvious when they had Lesnar win.
If you have Benoit a manager Paul would be a good choice but then Benoit would have to turn heel and they are building him as a huge face. It would be such a waste of a push to turn him heel so soon.
You stick say Arn with Benoit everyone is going to scream for the horsemen and I don't think that is a good idea, Benoit was always better on his own, or just with a tag partner.
On Raw you need the mic because they are more sports entertainment.
I think with Smackdown you don't need to be great on the mic to carry that show, all you need is the wrestling skills. Smackdown is a wrestling show. Benoit or Lesnar could carry it, I mean look at Goldberyg, I know smarks hate him, but when you get down to it, this guy was the man in WCW for a long time and he hardly ever used the mic. It was his wrestling that got him over and had people cheering for him and not matter how much some of us hate Goldberg, he was over and that carried the fed.
Also the federation doesn't rely on one guy, it takes a bunch of guys to do it, like in WCW how they had Goldberg and Sting and Flair and Hogan, it was a mix of guys that carried the fed. No one guy can do it and shouldn't be made to becuse then you get into a Triple H glory hound thing.

Goldberg was never the man in WCW imo. Sting was and is the only man WCW ever had
Goldberg was a joke who beat guys like Fit Finlay and Meng and Glacier and then I was told to think of him as a unstoppable monster. Yeah whatever!!!
I still say unless they make SD fully into like a ECW hybrid, that the champion needs to be a true all arounder like Kurt, Jericho, Edge, and The Rock

I think a lot of people sold Goldberg short. Is he the all-around type that Sting is, or the technical expert that Angle or Benoit are? No, but that's not something you can hold against the guy. He's a powerhouse wrestler, a brawler. Less finesse, more intensity and power is his style. And he's good within those perameters.
In any case, he has to be better than Steiner, better than Nathan Jones, and better than guys like A-Train.

He was the man for a long while... he drew a considerable amount of money and was the go to guy during a period of time. It wasn't until Nash used the book to kill his run did he lose alot of momentum.
The two parties are extremely close right now, but negotiations go on and off by the minute. WWE currently wants Goldberg to work around 100 dates yearly, although many are now calling the dates issue, while important, not something that could either make or break the deal. Goldberg has also asked for a vacation period each year, and creative control of his programs, things that WWE will likely have a difficult time handling, although will probably work out as well.
In an original meeting on Goldberg, Vince McMahon brought up Steve Austin, Undertaker, The Rock, and Kurt Angle as possible opponents for Goldberg in a feud. Brock Lesnar's name was not originally brought up, interestingly enough.
Yes well, Goldberg is a very intelligent man. He recognizes that the WWE has been insulting to him before (Gillberg) and some have treated him like **** (Triple H) but now he has the ball. The WWE is despertate into signing him and that enough let's him take advantage of the situation. Goldberg fooled around with this ordeal long enough to make alot...alot of money and control his storyline..If he does sign, I'd be glad to see him feud with Austin..Although it seems he really wants to feud with The Rock.

I have to disagree...
I was big on wrestling during that era, and I remember all anyone was talking about was Goldberg's streak. Who was gonna beat him? Who could beat him? It was all about Goldberg until they got sick of the streak and had him lose. His popularity went downhill after that..
He was huge though. No doubt about it...

yeah he was beating those guys when Sting was the "man" in WCW, that was called HIS BUILD UP
After he won the US title Goldberg took over because the whole thing shifted from Sting taking on the nwo to Goldberg going after Hollywood and the nwo. Then you had Goldberg beating the top nwo guys, I mean he did beat Hogan. With that Goldberg became the top draw in WCW, without mic skills or a whole lot of wrestling talent. They built goldberg up great at the start and the average fan loved it, because he was something that really hadn't been done before.
It's a similar build up brock has gotten and people do like brock, heck they are even giving Benoit a good build up as a face and people cheer for him. You just have to be over with the fans to be the champion.

SD! Rumour/Speculation/Spoiler
There are rumors going around backstage that Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar is back on for WrestleMania.
If you read the SmackDown spoilers, you know that WWE kept the Angle/Lesnar contact minimal, by making it a match that lasted all of a minute. Additionally, they used the Kurt Angle/Eric Angle trick storyline from Survivor Series 2000, to even further put off the Angle/Lesnar in-ring battle.
It now appears that Angle will risk doing the WrestleMania match and will drop the title to Lesnar at the PPV. He will then get surgery after Mania.
I didn't want to read, but I caved. Source - Wrestlezone.

seems like that arent that many great matches set up for Wrestlemania this year, just:
Lesnar Vs Angle for Heavyweight Title

Jericho Vs Michaels
and I guess Booker T Vs HHH for World Title
there aren't any gimmick matches are there? like steel cage, iron man, etc,etc... And whats up with Taker/Jones Vs Big Show & A-Train? Boring!!! Hopefully Taker will keep his winning wrestlemania streek of 11 - 0 this year.

Matt Hardy/Rey Mysterio Jr
Trish/Jazz/Victoria
Rhyno&Benoit/Team Angle/Los Guerroes (I wish the Guerroes where fighting FBI, so that it could be a regular tag match)
Bad matches:
McMahon/Hogan (a wrestling match with no wrestlers...)
Jones&Taker/Atrain/Show (3 bad wrestlers and one past his prime, plus Taker needs to forget his streak and concentrate on creating stars before he leaves)
Whatever: Test and Jeff Hardy are doing

There isn't a need with such a good top card and only 2 matches. Gimick matches are used to finish a fued... and Austin, HBK can't handle being in a dangerous match. And Lesnar and Angle have a gimck that already is a sure crowd pleaser... a wrestling match!

I would rather see him go out at WM, then on SD! Of course he would most likely agree. Trying to stay away from wrestling sites, but the whole Angle thing brought me back. They're saying he needs to have surgery again to fuse his vertebre. He can put that off for five years but then wouldn't be able to wrestle. He could still become a manager or have some role in WWE, but its a damn shame when the best overall peformer today has a injury that could cause him to retire when he has a few years left.
It will be interesting to see what happens at the GGW PPV tonight.

Besides the fact that they aligned themselves with such low-brow entertaintment... I never heard anything about WWE being embarressed. Reports say they swerved the fans by not having any WWE superstar show anything (which any one with common sense would have known). Help promoting GGW PPvs isn't something that helps the company @ all... hopefully this is never brought up again.
Sidenote, I am really fearfull going into WM... Kurt Angle could seriously injury himself and Vince has allowed Brock/Angle to happen. Regardless of the payday, having someone potentially cripple themselves in the middle of the ring is not good for the company nor for ethical reasons. Dr. Youngblood, not only said that Angle shouldn't wrestle @ Mania, but that he should RETIRE from wrestling. Although I would hate to see him go, I would rather know the fact that he took the surgry, turned down the payday and be able to walk and play with his children and maybe in a year or two return to the ring for a match or two, then have him wrestle @ manaia and become paralyzed for the rest of his life.

I wonder about McMahon's mental processes too.....the thought hit me today when I saw a "HLA" shirt in WWE mag.....
I am worried about Kurt now.....:( But as for being told to retire: well, most wrestlers with severe injuries are told that, and come back (Austin.) However, this is Youngblood, who has a ton of experience with wrestlers. And, they have had surgery and THEN came back......
Frankly, I think they should have done Angle/Lesnar sooner myself....BEFORE Lesnar had been beaten, even by screwjob. I think it's lost some of the heat now, though it may just be me...

I didn't post it as I had no way to confirm whether it was legit or whether someone with a lot of time on their hands decided to put it all together. Adding to my suspicions was the fact that the other day there was a fake Backlash poster with Goldberg on it circulating. The WWE Magazine cover with Goldberg is legit and that Goldberg has signed and will debut either at Wrestlemania or the week after. " Is it true or false? Guess only time will tell.

Most likely fake, but with Batista, Orton, Angle and Edge gone from 6-12 months wouldn't be suprised if he showed up on March 31st.
According to the WrestlingObserver and various exclusive sources, Bill Goldberg and WWE have reached a deal.
The current plan is for Goldberg to show up either as a surprise at WrestleMania, or on the following RAW or SmackDown!
The original plan was for Goldberg to work against the winner of Rock/Austin, and as far as I know, that still is the case. Because of Goldberg and HHH tension, as well as Goldberg's personal statement that he would not job to Brock Lesnar, a program with either Austin or Rock is more likely. That could change, though.

Well I would like to see The Rock win and then maybe face Booker T and lose to him at Backlash and then let him go make his movie. But if Goldberg signs they would probably have him face The Rock while they can. Another question is what do they do with HBK, Y2J, and Austin after WM19? Move Jericho to Smackdown?

What's the deal with this extended garbage? I've already seen Smackdown, I don't need to watch it again. Vince and Hogan's ego is too huge.

got this from wrestlevenom.com
'WWE announced that their June pay-per view for this year will be called "Bad Blood". Of course, every year before their June pay-per view was "King of the Ring", but due to the brand extension, things change this year.
As widely documented the past few months, WWE will be holding split roster pay-per view. The first is expected to be the June "Bad Blood" pay-per view which is tenatively scheduled to be a RAW pay-per view show. After that, each brand will have 4 pay-per views per year, with both sides coming together to hold joint pay-per views at WrestleMania, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam.'

You could try the TSN Website. They have Hogan, Lawler, and Bret.

I like how they had Heyman state something about Lawler and then Lawler saw the clip and replied. Hogan made a comment about Hart and they showed Hart. Hart made a comment about HBK and they showed that to him.

American too.
raw world tag titles RVD/Kane. This has been bumped down to Heat apparently. With Americans at war and Lance/Morley being Canadians they'll let the mostly American fans cheer on new American champs.
crusierweight belt Mysterio Wins. I hope this match opens the show and sets the tone for the rest of the night.
taker/jones vs a-train/show Show and A-Train win. Jones will get pinned thus tarnishing Taker's WM record. Also Show has lost his last three PPV matches since winning the title.
triple threat tag titles Eddie and Chavo. Cheat 2 Win will then tangle with FBI. Team Angle's run without titles and Angle should be interesting. Benoit and Ryhno need to be in the singles division but this should be one of the highlights of the night.
women's tripe threat Victoria. Then next month have Jazz win it. But I've heard Victoria was injured so I don't know. Just not Trish. She'll probably win later this year but not at this PPV.
y2j/hbk Jericho wins. This has been brewing since December and they did have some great stuff in the Elimination Chamber. HBK doesn't retire right now.
world championship belt HHH wins. It would be great for Booker and I do hope he wins but after a clean win on RAW I don't see HHH losing twice in a row. Rematch at Backlash should happen. Hopefully Booker T doesn't end up like Kane, RVD and Stiener. After there matches with HHH there storylines have gone nowhere. Only now has RVD and Kane gotten a decent thing. But Stiener...
20 years in the making Hogan. Seems like Vince doesn't win too many Streetfights. But Hogan will win and then retire since he's done it all.
rock/austin III The Rock finally picks up a win over Austin at WM. If Goldberg does appear, he would have a match with The Rock at Backlash which would Goldberg would win.
wwe championship Lesner somehow leaves with the belt. Many possibilites of how to end this. It would be great if Angle walked away as the victor but was attacked by Lesner and then Team Angle since Kurt has neglected them for awhile. Then the belt is up for grabs so someone like Benoit or Jericho or Austin could grab it in a Triple Threat at Backlash. Thus keeping the belt off Lesner. He'll win it back at SummerSlam.
miller lite catfight Brunette. This has to close WM, everyone will walk away happy.;)

Why not Trish? I have no problem with any of the women in this contest wining the title... regardless of who wins... WWE needs to take time to develop Molly and Jacqie into distinctly heel or face roles.
y2j/hbk Jericho wins. This has been brewing since December and they did have some great stuff in the Elimination Chamber. HBK doesn't retire right now. [/B]
I disagree with the elimination chamber comment... to me outside of the Summer Slam fight, HBK has yet to show that he can wrestle in a wrestling match...

RVD and Kane are in midard hell... but Booker is in worse shape because they totally screwed with his character to the point that if he doesn't win @ WM he'll look like a jobber. And also HHH lost 2X in a row to Booker. So either look for Book to win it and lose it 2 weeks later @ Backlash or Electrodust turns on him and costs him the title.
20 years in the making Hogan. Seems like Vince doesn't win too many Streetfights. But Hogan will win and then retire since he's done it all. [/B]
This match really has me pissed with the amount of time they are spending 'developing it'... the thing is already developed and doesn't need 20+ mins every show to 'build it up' spend that time with Team Angle, or Jericho, or the women matches (that 2min match was a blackeye for the division), or even the cruiserweights. Its going to get cheers before and after... but inbetween.. boring as hell. I hope this is short and Vince goes over.

Good 3-threat match... should have been longer, but it good enough. Trish got her Wrestlemania win (finally... still wondering what happened last year).. Victoria was very vocal which increased the drama throughout the match.

Excellent match... Y2J looked strong... so did Michaels... unfortunately Michaels still has trouble jobing to Canadians, people in need of a push and those who aren't his friends. Booker T, who had his very character tarnished, put in a racial angle... and was positioned in a situation that if he didn't beat HHH... he would look like a jober... and what do they do... have him lose... not via a screwjob or any time of questional call... with a pedegree in the middle of the ring clean... EXCELLENT match... wow... mat wrestling... psychology... in a MAIN EVENT... could have been better if Angle was @ 100%. Brock was too far from Angle to do the Shooting Star. He has done it from that distance... but... the ring always looks biger @ wrestlemania. Brock landed on his head and was messed up. Angle quickly attempted a pin and helped Brock kick out of it... Brock still whobbily got up pulled an f-5 and won.
After the match, Brock was so messed that he couldn't really grab the title... when he wasin the corner... look @ the replay... look @ his eyes... he was in nowhereland... Angle checks to see if he is alright... and they hug.
Great wrestlemania... no X-7, but way better than the garbage X8. It was annoying with the time they spend doing 'America, The Beautiful' sung by Ashanti (yux)... with the images from the war... I felt like packing up and going home... so damn annoying. They are lucky they didn't pull that **** last year. Limp Bizkit sucked playing their crappy songs... the Miller Light girls put together a better match then Hogan... if they took out the Taker match and cut down on the time for the Hogan/Vince fiasco... then alot of the matches would have had enough time... but a wrestlemanai worth watching...

Readers are reporting that there was an incident of sorts at last night's RAW. After HHH's match, he reportedly remained in the ring while the Goldberg vignette aired. He then gave the middle finger to the Titantron. Then, while walking up the ramp, he pointed to the screen, then to his crotch, before flexing. # With preliminary buyrate numbers for WrestleMania from DirecTV due in on Friday, many employees in Titan Towers are in fear that their positions with the company are jeopardy. From the preliminary numbers, World Wrestling Entertainment higher-ups will be able to project an overall number of buys for the pay-per-view. With the WWE's history of laying people off after WrestleMania, and the recent releasing of Kevin Kelly, it is believed that anyone's job could be in danger.
# Tito Ortiz of the UFC has not signed with the WWE. There is definite interest on both sides, but it is not known where the parties stand at this point.
# There is talk that Kurt Angle was displeased with Brock Lesnar's response to some of Angle's ideas for their match at WrestleMania. Apparently, Lesnar has been somewhat hardheaded backstage, and he was not very receptive to what Angle had in mind for the match. Sources say that the frustration between the two carried over into the match itself.
Also, Lesnar was upset that he was asked to job to The Rock at a March 15 house show in Florida. Brock ended up doing the job, but agents had to actually call Vince McMahon at home and get him involved.
# In a poll that was taken in February, Bret Hart was voted the greatest WWE Champion of all time. The latest issue of WWE RAW Magazine shows the results of the poll.

I'm siding with Brock... Angle shouldn't have been in the match in the first place. Secondly... Angle probably wanted to put Brock in a more compromising position... where a mistake could jeaporidize Angle's career.

Well, watched Raw last night and saw Goldberg come back, that was cool.
And Bischoff firing Austin? Now, I know dramatization is probably the biggest thing in pro wrestling nowadays, but this seemed pretty real to me. I guess I could be wrong, but when that chic was interviewing Austin outside his locker room, he sounded actually choked up. And then JR snapped, and Lawler seemed actually shocked, so I took that as all BUT acting. So, someone a little more keen in the wrestling world (I'm not into it near as much as I used to be a few years ago), was Austin getting fired the real deal??

Austin is on his way out... and due to his nagging injuries (which have become more of a problem as of late) and the lack of programs for him to be in... his depature from the WWE might be sooner than later.
Although rumblings have been occuring saying he might continue as only an on-air character capacity...

Part of the Austin storyline. I'm guessing Austin will somehow become RAW G.M. and then J.R. will be his first business deal. Also J.R.'s BBQ Sauce will be out soon and it would make sense if he was on TV to sell it.
But the thing with the Austin/JR Friendship is remember when the heel Austin beat JR in his hometown in the middle of the ring? Just turned him on like that! But a few months go by and they are best buddies on air. JR was attacked by Eric and Morley and dispises them but he still is friends with Austin? I don't care if Austin is a face, that act is one of those can't forgive things. He could accept it and act professional but to quit your job for a man that 'kicked the crap' out of you two years ago? Makes no sense, but so does a lot of things in the WWE.

Spoiling potentially decent matches? Are you talking about The Rock.. Dwayne Johnson? because spoiling good matches and Rock don't really compute. Now if you ment GOLDBERG... who has probably only had one match that was decent that went over 7 mins... then I agree.

Rock can do what many cannot... put a match over. Say the same thing over and over again? That might be Rock last year... not this year. He has breathed new life into his character. Out side of the Rock concert, he hasn't 'jawed on' very long at all... his promos have been around 5 - 6mins.. rather than Hogan/Vince/Piper stuff that take 10 - 15mins. And involdve younger talent... like Hurricane or Jeff Hardly.
His matches are indeed often predicatable... but at least it isn't sloppy, or completely garabage. Goldberg... he only has 4 moves... the spear, jackhammer, legsubmission and kick (which has been known to injury his oppenents).

they are bringing Austin back in a manager type role.. like a GM or such
and J.R.. he might possibly be turning 'heel' angle. I have read that they might have him be the one who was responsible for getting ahold of Austins 'medical records' and giving them to Bischoff

Oh, and in case you guys missed tonight's Raw, Lita was ready to announce her return to the ring, but Bischoff tried to intimidate her into posing nude for him, so that he would consider having her pose for Plaboy. Lita told him to go to a certain firery place, and walked away, while Bischoff announced that she was fired!!!
Don't be surprised if she ends up on Smackdown!!!

But why would JR quit? If he leaked the medical files, and saw Austin fired that would be his goal. Why quit? If Austin comes back as a GM you know he'll hire JR back and if his heel thing is true he would just fire JR anyway.
JR has a new BBQ sauce so I don't think they would have JR as a heel. Better image.

As for Jeff.....@#$!! :(But then again, wrestling wasn't his life, and he has other things to keep him busy and let him express himself....(thanks for the link slinger!)
So maybe it was mutual....I really can't beleive they would just up and fire him without good reason. I've long read that Matt lives, breathes, eats and sleeps the biz, but Jeff is FAR more diversified in interests, and talents. I hope he does well whatever he chooses to do.

It's about time with Jeff...
I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it's been a long time coming. He has been very sloopy in the ring and it was either give him time off (which should have been option #1), send him to OVW (which should have been option #2) or fire him (which should be the last option).... it seems WWE jump to number 3... because no one can get time off unless your name starts and ends with H or unless you take your 'ball home and get blasted for not loving the buisness'... or if you make movies...
Jeff Hardy, the best of luck to you.

Okay, so am I the only person who posts on the internet that actually LIKES Goldberg? I just wonder.
Sure, Goldberg isn't as diverse in the ring as Chris Benoit or Kurt Angle (or several others), but he isn't called to be. He's there to be intense, use power moves effectively, beat the crap out of his opponents, and intimidate others. He does that very effectively, and he doesn't bore you with too much talk.
Can he shoot promos like The Rock? No. But at least he doesn't talk long enough to put me to sleep, like alot of others that have no talent for promos, but yak away anyway.

JR is already a VERY important man backstage....I think his title is "Head of Talent Relations?" He is one of the guys responsible for the hiring and development of wrestlers for the WWE - at least the way I understand it. I just know that the majority of his work is backstage, and the announcing - well, that's because he's one of the best announcers in the biz, IMO.
I don't know about the Mr. America dude either....is he coming to Smackdown? (missed it last night...) And those 2 pompus French guys - they coming to Raw or Smackdown?

They did give him time off. I can't remember when exactly. If I recall it was when The Undertaker was a heel and "injured" the three of them. It's just as well they let him go he was getting really sloppy in the ring and I was getting worried for him and his opponents. Watching him wrestle these past few months I could never shake the feeling that I was watching the Jake the Snake Roberts or Scott Hall story unfold in front of my eyes.

But nostaligia acts aren't supposed to take up so much TV time... because it can sell itself... Also you are spending that much time when you should be focusing on the cruiserdivision more, focusing on pushing younger talent... and use that talent as the main focus of the show... thankful 'Hot Rod' hasn't done a wrestling match (that one with Rikishi was hardly a match)... too bad Hogan can't take a hint from Marty Jenetty and disapper!

Here's the latest Bret Hart column fromt eh Calgary Sun. I thought Slinger and Justin Credible would get a kick (no pun intended. ;))out of it. ;)
According to the poll on my website (www.brethart.com), some of your favourite columns I've written have to do with behind-the-scenes stories about wrestlers.
Here's one I heard just last week. It kind of reminds me of David and Goliath.
Making his way back into wrestling circles is Bill Goldberg, who is most famous for his incredible undefeated string of victories in the WCW. Not to mention he's the guy who accidentally kicked me in the head in December 1999, causing my career-ending concussion.
He kicked me much like a wild bucking horse and nearly knocked my head off my shoulders. I still, even now, have a tear in my neck muscle the size of a quarter that will never heal to prove it.
I was told by a former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, who coached Goldberg, if he had a whole team of Goldbergs, he'd win the Super Bowl every year.
People ask me if sometimes tensions in the ring ever carry over into serious fights in the dressing room. Not usually because nobody wants to fight and get hurt -- and not get paid for it.
But, now and again, sometimes the best wrestling matches take place in the dressing rooms or showers. One such incident happened a couple of weeks ago when Goldberg made some less than kindly remarks about young Chris Jericho.
Goldberg's wrestling ability often resembled the gorilla in those old Samsonite luggage commercials. He had a tendency to injure everybody he worked with and took his own publicity a little too seriously.
My sense about Jericho, a local Calgary kid, is he's always been easy-going with an even disposition.
The one little thing Goldberg didn't take into account is Jericho was trained in my dad's dungeon. Although I'm sure Jericho doesn't pretend to be a shooter, he does have a decent wrestling background.
As I understand it, Jericho approached Goldberg in the dressing room and asked him politely if he'd come out in the hallway where they could talk in private.
Heads turned when Bill suddenly broke into character, bizarrely growling like he does on TV.
Goldberg suddenly gripped Jericho by the throat in a furious rage. The little scrappy Calgarian, who is nowhere near Goldberg's size, nonchalantly wrestled him to the floor, clamping on a front face lock, which is every shooter's last resort and is comparable to having a bear trap clamped on your head.
For the next several minutes, Goldberg did everything he could to shake Jericho off but no doubt all those long sessions in the dungeon paid off for Jericho. He choked Goldberg outright on the dressing room floor, in front of everybody. A reality check for Goldberg that's been long overdue.
I know when I talk with my dad, he has a bottomless pit of these kinds of stories going back 50 years and I know he's gonna love adding this one to his repertoire.
Maybe Goldberg should come up to Calgary and spend some time with Stu in the dungeon learning how to wrestle.

Fans really made that match. Would've been great for him to win, since I'm tired of seeing Triple H walk around as champion. Maybe if his feuds and matches were better but they aren't. Flair vs HHH vs Nash - Hell in a Cell with Flair taken out or leaves the ring due to a run in to leave Nash and HHH. But whatever. I only watched the tag title match, goldberg's and the main event.

I have a question: Is the WWE still trying to sign Sting? If so, how close are they to signing him? I think it would be cool if he showed up at "Bad Blood" in the HBK vs. Flair match. It would irk Flair!!!

Well they need this PPV to succeed or else its back to the drawing board.
HHH/Nash Hell in a Cell
Jericho/Goldberg
HBK/Flair
Booker T/Christian Inter-Con Title
The RAW GMS Do Something
Tag Titles
A Women's Match (they need new blood. Trish/Victoria can go on for only so long.)
Stiener/Test
Maybe Rodney Mack w/Nowinski vs Dudleys Table Match, No.1 Contender for Tag Titles.
Have Val Venis do something for the ladies.
I think they need as many matches as they can get.
I've heard that Sting could appear sometime this summer with a big match at SummerSlam.

A Women's Match (they need new blood. Trish/Victoria can go on for only so long.)
I couldn't agree more. I can think of a few ideas:
1. Bringing back one(or both of)the ladies who won "WWE Tough Enough 2" to face Jazz. (She still has the title, right?)
2. Bring Lita back to face Jazz. She has only had the Women's Title once, so she's definately going to be gunning for it.
They can't bring in Sting. There isn't room for the egoes of Rock, Austin, Goldberg and Sting in one company. It's fit to busting with just Goldberg really. Though seeing him vs Lesnar could be interesting. As long as Lesnar wins.

So it appears that Foley will return. Just waiting for Bret Hart to make a run in, cut a hole in the cell and cost HHH the title. ;)

It isn't confirmed but all the WWE Refs said to the GMs that they won't ref the match. Austin said he would call some crazy guy who would do it for sure. Foley chants were heard briefly.

I know that if RAW or SD! ever came here that it would be a sell out or near sellout, since the major reason nobody goes to house shows is that house shows suck and they would rather pay money for something that will be memorable.

Anyone hear about this weeks Smackdown? Apparently Sable goes topless. Isn't that the reason she left because she didn't want to be topless in the ring?
Also why don't Stacy and Torrie train to wrestle?

well on SmAcKdOwN, Brock suplexs Big Show from the second rope and the ring collapses! yeah Sable flashes Vince and Steph plans on bringing back the U.S. Title. Yeah that was Linda, she was busy at Ohio Valley training more to get better in the ring. Last time she was in the ring it was a pretty bad match.
Ultimo Dragon is set to make his debut at the Raw or Smackdown at Madison Square Garden in a little over a week. It should be a sight to see.

I am looking forward to the RedNeck Triathalon I wonder what the other 2 events are gonna be.
Mick Foley is one of my favorite wrestlers of all-time not only because of his in-ring skills but also because of his hilarious Mic Skills. I know he is only gonna be around for just a little while I wish he would stay longer.

OK is anyone surprised that Jamal was released by the WWE yesterday? Since Three Minute Warning's first appearence a few months back they have been horrible. Now that Rico had left them they had no point at all to stay in the WWE. I am wondering if Rosey will be re-packaged and given a new gimmick or if he will be let go as well.

His last match in that great tag match against Jericho/Benoit was when the 'Cerebral Assasin' died. He's come back and its never been the same. He puts his body on the line, but the few great matches he has are outweighed by the terrible storylines, borring promos and bad matches.
Time for the title to change hands, but if Nash or Goldberg are the only options...
The 3 main events were worthy of being on the PPV. The other stuff seemed like medicore RAW matches. the Christian/Booker T ending sucked. Have Christian cheat, but have him pin Booker. DQs are terrible.
Flair looked like he was done after the table incident. Just his moans and the constant checking the back of his head.
The SD! PPV should be better than this. Could they possibly use the Elimination Chamber in July? One this would put six stars and be used as the headline match (save Lesner vs Angle at SummerSlam) and continue the RAW vs SD! feud, since Eric Jerkoff created the Elimination Chamber.
Lesner, Angle, Show, Benoit, Cena, Undertaker or Rhyno instead of Taker.

The Chamber would look awesome but I don't think that Cena is Main Event enough to be in that type of match yet. Take Out Cena and keep in the other six guys listed and that could be a good match.
I am also looking forward to a Cruiserweight match w/ Rey against my hopes Ultimo Dragon.
Mr. America vs. Vince will an interesting match, eventhough it is a replay of thier Wrestlemania which was pretty good in my opinion.
There should be a US Title match at the PPV as well so it will be interesting who they give the title to.
I hope that the SD PPV will be longer then this one. I will be in attendance, the first ever WWE/WWF PPV ever in Colorado. I went to the WCW PPV a few years ago but I was disappointed then. This one has to be better.

considering that tnn was legally barred from changing its name to spike tv this week as planned do you think the wwe will have a storyline with them trying to keep spike dudley from performing under the logic of if they can't use the name spike he can't either?

I was dissapointed with this PPV. WHEN THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO GIVE BOOKER T SOME RECONGNITION AND GIVE HIM A BELT. Having him lose to Christian? Come on. HHH has held the title for FAR too long. Hell in the Cell was good, except HHH should lose for a change. Foley bringing out Socko was great though.
Is he going to be in WWE again, or was this just a one shot?

At first it was going to be a one-time deal but I do know he will be on Raw tonight because Austin won't be there and a www.RajahWWF.com they have a report posted that says Mick will be around for awhile and be involved in a possible match as well. Only watched roughly the last hour of RAW and have to say it was good. The tag match was much better than the Bad Blood effort. Orton and Maven put on a show. Rico and Spike performed to "Boring" chants so who knows how that's going to pan out. HHH made Kane quite an offer. Much better than Booker T joining the nWo. Should be interesting next week.
IamMrDJ
06-18-2003, 06:06 PM
I highly doubt Kane will win next week. I would liek to see him feud w/ Triple H though for the summer. They would put on better matches then Nash or Goldberg would w/ Triple H. Orton looks like he has been training since he was last injured hopefully he has more skills it was just awful watching him and Batista wrestle earlier this year. I have heard rumors that Mark Jindrak might become the 4th member of Evolution. I don't know if this would be a good idea. I think that they need someone who has more of a name for themselves in the WWE to be the 4th member. I doubt it will be Test now because it looks like he is going to be Eric's B**ch now. Kane or Booker T would be good but I can't see either of those 2 going heel or atleast going to Evolution. Kevin Nash is out because he is just looking to slow in the ring lately. RVD would be a good person to join Evolution he is already well-known and he is a more aerial guy which would be good for them. Especially w/ him and Kane losing thier titles I can see him adn Kane feuding and then Triple H and (big wish here) Mick Foley feauding and an HBK, Randy Orton feud. Theat would set-up the old bad guy stable vs. the good guy stabe that we have been w/o for quite a few years now. What do you guys think?
