I just rewatched the sequel to When A Stranger Calls. When A Stranger Calls Back.. and I'd sorta forgotten how eerie the opening scene is with the babysitter watching the house and periodically interacting with the 'stranger'.. who's posing as the man who's car broke down...
The way its shot, the performance from the girl, the music, the voice of the man once he reveals himself.. all of it is actually masterful in how it creates a chilling atmosphere.. Just that scene alone stands as a testiment to old school horror and one of the best opening sequences in ANY horror movie of the 90's.
