Apparently the next Rambo may take a turn into the science fiction section as he may be brought in to hunt some kind of beast.

Lots of ink
has been flowing over the week-end regarding details on the next RAMBO flick, with some saying its sci-fi undertones would make it a UNIVERSAL SOLDIERS rip-off. But the truth actually makes it sound really cool. Sorry Mike Sampson, none of your ideas made the cut...

The film will be loosely based on a novel by LEVIATHAN author James Byron Huggins called "Hunter", which Stallone had acquired the rights to a while ago. According to plot details sent out to medias this week-end, the film would see Rambo (and a new 22 year-old sidekick...) called on to track down a savage creature resulted from top-secret experiments
to create the perfect soldier.

The sidekick thing I admit is a bit too...I dunno, just rings bad, but otherwise sound kick-ass to have Rambo come full circle from the first film where HE was the tracked menace. Sly explained his views to AICN (complete with voice mail which we can listen to) where he explained the menace to not be a government-controlled super soldier but a "feral beast" that was the horrible result of fringe experiments. Could be quite cool. Rambo vs The *****ed-Up Wolfman. Co-Starring Robin Williams...

i read about the scifi thing earlier this morning too...not sure what to think but so far im not positive about the scifi, I think it should just be kept to more real but depending on how Stallone makes this , I'd be pleased if was like Rambo 4

I say with Rambo just go for it. It's not like they have much to lose if it turns out bad.

I heard the podcast of Sly talking about the plot, and when I heard him explain it, it certainly sounded pretty awesome! It aint gonna be some super-soldier aka Universial Soldier lamo thingy. No, it's gonna be a ****ed up experiment of a beast, full of fury and anger - symbolizing the wrath within Rambo him self; the beast is a "mirror" of the inner demons that John Rambo carries around. I think it sounds ****ing awesome! And this will no doubt be kept a rough R-rated picture, full of gore and hardcore action; that is why it's bound to be successful!

This is the one I found, no mention of beasts or anything like that.

^ that's old rumours... the beast story line is what they're going for. and the more I think about it the more I'm digging it. certainly more interesting then the other plot.

Ehhh, this isn't about taking Rambo in a new direction, this more or less sounds like they're taking it into a completely new genre which is pretty risky. If they stick on this course, I'm not gonna hold out much hope.

This is going to be the best movie ever made. I can't wait.

Probably won't be as good as Rambo IV, the instant American classic.
