For me it's the Good Wife

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbikwBF2Os4&feature=player_embedded

I have been loving these types of shows more and more recently, and this one(about the wife of a disgraced U.S. senator) really looks good as it has two of my favorite actors in it(Julianna Marguilles and Chris Noth).

What shows are you guys looking forward to? New or returning doesn't matter.

As for new shows, I'm really looking forward to Flash Forward (or FlashForward, whatever it's technically called) and V... not sure I'll watch anything else.

Apparently production stopped on V I think for two weeks or something- hopefully we'll still be able to get a full season. I'm also looking to Flash Forward, Community, hmm ?? I know there's more.

I hope that they re-continue production on V, as I remember the original from when I was very small and it would be nice to see a remake. I work for a marketing company in NYC and it would be cool to see my company doing a Youtube video for that show like the one I linked above:)

Another show I am looking forward to this season is season 4 of Heroes, they've set up a lot of possibilities for this upcoming city.

Prior to this forum I had never even heard of Flash Forward. What's the premise?

The Vampire Diaries (because although the books sucked, it actually looks like the show is fixing what was wrong with the book), maybe V if i can fit it into my schedule, but I think that's it for new shows. Oh, midseason there's a show called Life UneXpected on The CW that looks really good, kinda has a Gilmore Girls-esque fell to it, but i've gotta wait a while for that one.

This is actually one I am aware of. The marketing company I work for is actually doing a campaign for this series for CBS. I am pretty intrigued as well about this series, but from what I have heard it's about surgeons who specialize in organ donor transplants.

Check the preview here (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/three_rivers/)

The only two new series that my wife and I'll watch from the start are NCIS: Los Angeles, V, The Prisoner, Durham County, The Good Wife, and Flash Forward. Other than that, everything goes onto the DVR, and we'll watch them later (probably December at the earliest), unless: [1] they get canned or panned badly (in which case we'll delete them; or [2] they get incredible buzz (in which case we'll try to swap them into our viewing plans, swapping out some returning show). The shows we're recording include The Forgotten, Mercy, Trauma, Stargate Universe, Modern Family, Cougar Town, White Collar, Three Rivers and Eastwick.

While I'm at it, does anyone have a source of information indicating what movies the broadcast and cable networks will be broadcasting this fall, i.e., "movies on television premieres"?

The one thing I fear about the Vampire Diaries is the current oversaturation going on since Moonlight. There's a chance it'll be good and in any situation I'll give it a sample, hopefully I won't be disapointed.

I'm not sure that a show about vampires, ANY show about vampires, would be any good. Instead, what's good are shows about characters, some of who may be vampires. As long as the characters and plot lines are sufficiently interesting, the fact that vampires are being used as a plot device shouldn't matter. Unlike documentaries, there isn't a limited well of contextual interest for dramas with any specific underpinnings. Where saturation point becomes an issue is when we have situations where there is nothing there in the drama except for those underpinnings... do that too much and yes you'll run into disinterest. However, I suggest that if all a drama has is just underpinnings, then the drama isn't going to hold people's interest anyway.

Kinda got lost at Comic-Con
This mini-series has taken years for various reasons but they finally filmed it and will air in November.

If only CBS had kept Moonlight on the air they may have had a modest hit with all the Twilight fans.

If only CBS had kept Moonlight on the air they may have had a modest hit with all the Twilight fans. Not a chance. There is a big difference between the target audience for Twilight and the audience that Moonlight appealed to. Was there overlap? Sure. Some of us old fogeys watch shows intended for kids. Absolutely. However, it isn't enough to support a show -- surely not enough to make it a hit. Moonlight was a good show, but it was missing something inside to make it a hit. It wasn't a matter of luck or timing IMHO, things that I believe kept shows like New Amsterdam and Journeyman from succeeding.

There are no new shows which have really grabbed my interest. I am really waiting for January when the last seasons of both Lost and 24 start.

5 million tuned in for The Vampire Diaries this past week. Now it may not sustain that but Moonlight only needed 2-3 million more viewers to stay on since it was on CBS Fridays. A Friday show at that hour getting 10 million would've been a modest hit. ABC, Fox and NBC would take 7-8 million viewers in a Writer's Strike Season and give it a second season order (9-13 episodes to give it a chance). True Blood also has exploded in the ratings.
