I just want to get everyones thoughts on this.
Good idea? Bad idea?
Either way its going to happen and its apparently going to have an R rating.

I'm sure most of you already know this
since its been in the loop for about almost 3 years now.

another reason I am posting this is because I havent heard anything new. Does anyone know anything about when it will be released? Or even when they will begin production?

Thanks guys

I don't know why, but I would watch "It" so much as a kid. I loved it. Having said that, there was always something a little too....TV Movie about it.

And please don't post a message in orange, again.

poor orange..Hated by everyone

lol

But I know what you mean..I'm hoping the R rating will change that.
My main concern is the new look of pennywise. I hope they stay true to his original look.
I dont think anyone will beat tim currys performance though

You should post in white from now on, that'll show him!

I think a more superior version of IT could easily be made, as you've said Tim Curry was spot on so that's the one thing they need to make sure is perfect; everything else was just mediocre and should be easy enough to better. It needs to be pushing 2.5+ hours though, I think.

Like JB I used to watch IT religiously as a kid and loved it.

Its the type of a film that can be enjoyed more as a kid than an adult as you get into the mindset of the children so much easier. Haven't watched it in a few years but still enjoyed it when I did. It is quite cheesy and poorly acted at times.

Not too sure on a re-make would have to see a trailer to gauge what the look of the film would be. It'd have to be really dark I reckon

i haven't seen the original, but this annoys me on account of yet another remake. Why don't they just addapt Cell instead?

Jordan KO: In two seperate posts you complain about remakes.
But in your Top of 2009 so far list, easily located beneath EVERY post you make....number one is a remake.

WTH??? O_o

so who would be a good choice for Pennywise?

i still cant get over that It is Tim Curry and same as he was the Lord of Darkness from Legend.

i have my doubts that the movie would be able to do the book justice. The damn thing is 1138 pages long. Maybe if they did it in two parts. Youth and Adult segments like the TV movie. I don't know.
As for Pennywise I keep thinking about http://www.espeniversen.com/wp-content/michael%20wincott.jpg
michael wincott. He has a great voice, and he plays a psycho with ease.

Remakes can work amazingly well i.e. The Fly, The Thing etc. I think I.T could get a nice revamp.:D

I want Stephen Kings scariest novel, but what do you think I must pick? The Pet Cemetery or Salem's Lot?

It is very nice to have a remake of all movies that are so known in the whole continent.

I'm not against remakes really as long as their faithful and fresh..hard to do i know..i think it'd be cool to see IT remade though, could make it really creepy nowadays

I think there's room for improvement as the original "movie" was made for TV so they could add some of the gore that was left out for TV.

My question is, can they actually make a decent adaptation of the novel into a 2 or 3 hr movie?

Let's face it, with very few exceptions, Stephen King movie adaptations don't have a great track record.

If anything, I would think an HBO or Showtime mini-series would be the best bet for "It."
