E3 2009

I don't see a thread about this, is no one talking about it? I was hoping to watch the Microsoft Press Confrence live but I think I missed it now.

I saw it live, there was some neat stuff in it. There was a big demonstration of Splinter Cell: Conviction, there's going to be a Metal Gear game called Metal Gear: Rising for the 360 (no word on a MGS4 port though), there was a Modern Warfare 2 demonstration, and a The Beatles: Rock Band demonstration (complete with Paul Mcartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Olivia Harrison on stage but not doing anything interesting), Halo ODST was there, so was Alan Wake, and some other neat stuff too. Finally they showed off a crazy new motion control thing (no controler, just senses your body motion), I thought it was wack but I guess the people who like Wiis will dig it.

-Metroidvania-like arcade title made by Epic
-Tony Hawk game that uses a skate board for a controller
-Final Fantasy XIII (running on the 360 w/ English voices, planned release of spring 2010)
-creepy friend simulator by Molyneux
-Facebook/Twitter
-Halo: Reach (comes out in 2010, if you buy ODST you will be given access codes for the multiplayer beta)
-Crackdown 2

It would have been a lot cooler if they showed something from Mass Effect 2, but there is still time for that.

Only games I was really interested in were Final Fantasy, MGSR, and Alan Wake.

Crackdown was a good idea but needed a lot of work so Crackdown 2 could be good. FF:XIII and MGSR also sound really cool.

They didn't show any gameplay for Halo: Reach, just an announcement teaser trailer saying we know how it ends and showing a planet from space with a bunch of explosions on its surface.

Oh yeah, there was a trailer for Left 4 Dead 2 as well.

Never got into Left 4 Dead. When it came out I didn't have a internet conection in my flat and then when I got one I couldn't afford it :(

So do we think the planet in the teaser is the same as the one from the end of Halo 3? Was it Bungie or someone else?

It was another team from Bungie. And the planet in the teaser is Reach. I've never read the books (maybe they talk about it in the first game too, Idk, it's been awhile since I played it), but in them I'm pretty sure I heard (not sure if these are spoilers?) Reach falls or is destroyed by the Covenant shortly before the first game starts, and all the Spartans are killed except for Master Chief.

Oh, okay. Well, Reach is the planet that is completely wipped out by the Covenant prior to the first Halo game. In the first Halo Game, the Pillar of Autumn is pretty much one of the only ships who manages to make it off Reach before it's completely glassed.

Coming out of the conferences, there has been a big revelation: Sony and Microsoft will be fighting it out over the real game market while Nintendo makes a lot of money off of crap I don't care about... okey, so there's not that much of a revelation. Microsoft easily had the most watchable of the press conferences, sony had some decent stuff, Nintendo shows no serious sign of goin after the hardcore, EA is still putting out expensive games, and Ubisoft enjoys putting people to sleep.
