Angel Star Andy Hallet dies of heart failure

thought i'd post this as i know there are a number of buffy/angel fans on this board.

Andy Hallett, 33, who starred as Lorne ("the Host") on the TV series Angel, died of heart failure last night at age 33, according to his agent. The actor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital after a five-year battle with heart disease.

Hallett, born in from the Cape Cod village of Osterville, Mass., appeared on more than 70 episodes of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff, Angel, between 2000 and 2004. The accomplished actor was also a musician and sang two songs ("Lady Marmalade" and "It's Not Easy Being Green") on the Angel: Live Fast, Die Never soundtrack, released in 2005.

he was really young to have heart disease. it looks like he was diagnosed shortly after Angel ended.

I just saw this same story on IMDB. Sad. Liked the character. I grabbed a little more info from IMDB's snip headline:

Actor and singer Andy Hallett has passed away, aged 33.

Hallet, best known for his recurring role as Lorne in hit U.S. TV show Angel, died from heart failure following a five-year battle against heart disease.

He landed his first break after he was dragged on stage at a concert to sing with Patti Labelle - the performance kickstarted his career as a singer-songwriter.

Hallett was spotted during a revue at a Los Angeles nightclub by Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, who created the demon character Lorne in the show's spin-off Angel just for him.

The star appeared in 76 episodes before series ended in 2004. Hallet's subsequent ill health ended his acting career.

He died on Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, with his father Dave Hallett by his side.

Boy isn't it weird two people from angel died young. The guy who played Doyle and now Lorne. I wonder how David is taking it for i hear he still was morning the death of teh guy who played Doyle and he knew Hallett longer.

I always loved him on angel. He was funny as hell. I loved the episodes where they were transported back to his home world. & he ended up being be-headed. Also, getting to see his mother & family members.

As for the heart issues.

It runs in my family with the males. My Grandfather(Father's Father) died in his early 20's ( My father was only a few months old) & my father also had the same issue. We Buried my father on his 56's birthday. Both my brothers also have heart disease. 1 Brother( the baby of the family) died at 26 & my othe brother at the age of 46 has the heart of a 70 year old man the doctors say. He is onl alot of meds.


Just a shame something like this happens to young people.
