Has anybody else seen this? I passed by it on the shelves at the store a few times and figured it wasn't worth buying, but I rented it tonight and just got done watching it to discover I was wrong. It is worth buying. It's friggin killer.
Don't get me wrong, it's a so-bad-it's-good movie, but it's actually kind of good, too. The opening sequence, which lasts about ten minutes, is really pretty damn kick-ass. It surprised me. If the flick had continued in that way it might have been better quality, but it quickly devolves into ridiculousness. But it's a good ridiculousness. There are sequences and certain little parts that were just unspeakably awesome. There's at least one horrifying moment that I can think of (the "happy ending" part) that made me cringe and actually yell. The guy with the guitar absolutely made the flick, the music and direction and just generally the hammy attitude of it all was cool as heck. Joe Bob Briggs would be proud. The make-up was the worst thing about it, it was just laughable, but that's forgivable. I suppose most would consider this a "guilty pleasure", either that or completely hate it and call me retarded for endorsing it, but either way I recommend it.
