This horror movie starring Kiefer Sutherland Opens this friday August 15th. In the film Sutherland plays a security guard plagued by unexplained deaths at a department store. The movie looks really good, and its rated R which is a plus in my book.

It's like they've given up on horror movies. Every damn horror movie has some dumb trick with mirrors, now they're finally making a full movie out of it.

I think the first Saw movie was original and the sequels went straight to the crapper after that.

I wasn't really surprised at the new red band clip of the beginning of the movie since the scene was referenced in the red band trailer anyways.

thats true but some can argue it turned into a drama towards the end, but those are probably the only horror movies i like, zombie flicks.

I LOVED the first half of 28 Days Later, disliked the 2nd. Was 28 Weeks Later any better?

^I actually really liked both films. You might want to try to give 28 weeks later a shot. I really think it's a very good sequel.

I thought The Descent was a really good horror movie.

28 Weeks Later was that rare sequel that was slightly better plus I saw it at my 1st ever trip to Grauman's Chinese in Hollywood so that added to my enjoyment. :)

Maybe...but I'm pretty sure that Mirrors is based on the Korean horror film "Into the Mirror" which I guess proves your point that they've given up on horror movies.

Reviews for this weren't that great. For some reason, when I see a horror movie like this, I want some no-name actors in it not Keifer Sutherland. Not sure why, just makes it harder for me to get into I guess.

^Plus, that way it's not so easy to tell who will survive at the end. I didn't see the movie, but I doubt Britney Snow would have died at the end of Prom Night since she's the only one in the movie I've heard of.
Not that I want to see it though. I wouldn't even rent PM for $1.07 at Redbox. That's how awful it looked to me.
I actually purchased my 11:30 AM ticket for Mirrors on AMC's website an hour ago since it's only $6 before noon on weekends. That way I don't feel too ripped off if it sucks compared to Regal's $8.50.

Good horror movies recently? Well, the Saw movies have continued to get better and better...I thought the first one had too many plot holes (Like Zeb wouldn't know where they guys were locked up, because his challenge was to answer the question, "Could you kill a woman/mother and her child to save your own life?")
I thought Final Destination was by far the most original concept for a horror movie in the last decade, considering that there was NO KILLER and NO ESCAPE. The pervasive theme throughout the trilogy is that you CAN NOT escape death. Although the death scenes in FD3 were its only saving grace (which is painfully obvious if you catch the edited version on TV), but the first two films were great. The acting and casting on them wasn't necessarily the best, but the direction and writing was quality.
I also thought that The Cave was pretty good. I mean, the acting SUCKED...hard. But the script, the direction, the choices in location...those were all brilliant. I'm looking forward to seeing what Steinberg, West, and Hunt come up with in the future, either on their own or working together again. To like The Cave, you just have to accept it for what it is; a B-Movie.
So there ARE good horror movies.

I didn't really care for this remake at all! It was good at first but then it just completly went off track and went into some supernatural crap and after that I just lost interest. Sorry but this is one movie I am NOT ever buying on DVD.

I actually thought the ending wasn't too bad.
Although the film could have been a lot better overall.

I agree with you completely. Once it turns into the girl / old woman thing at the end it was so staggeringly stupid and cheeseball that it became cool. Then the very tag-ass ending that seemed Twilight Zone-y, that I really dug. But most of it was sucktastic and boring.
