I have a wing colar shirt I'm wearing. Most of the time people wear bow ties with it, but I would like to wear a long tie like in the picture. Is there a certain way I should tie my tie? I could not find a link that helped with telling you what kind of ties go with what type of occasions. Do people still follow that?

Why are you asking this here? Besides, your link doesn't work. Why not just ask someone at a clothing store?

What I'm guessing the question is is whether to wear a tie like this:

With a shirt like this:

If so - I'd strongly recommend that you get a regular full-collared tux shirt if you want to wear it with the long tie - there's not hard and fast rule against wearing the long tie with the wing collar - but it looks pretty dippy because there's no balance between the size of the knot and the rest of the collar. As well, you'll need to know how to tie a good full windsor knot so that you have a smooth looking tie from the sides - which will be really exposed without a full collar. (Personally, I'd recommend a windsor knot in either case, just because it's the most centered, but you have a little leeway with a full collar)

yeah that collar is definitely not for a regular tie but it would take an Ascot http://www.ascotticket.com/Ascot_Ties-formal_Royal_Ascot_tie.jpg

Bow tie is good for this as many of these comments suggest.
I learned wearing a bow tie recently through a website.

Also, check this website: no thanks

It appears to be a "one-poster" break the ice kind of post, just to test the waters on an easy one, seeing where the said post would land, and the impact it would have.

Either that or he was clueless. Welcome to CS thread digger
