I noticed that it comes and goes. It doesn't get as busy as, say, SHH, but it's nothing that we won't bounce back from. :)

I think its the time difference, as I think most users are from US.

I remember the old days when I first joined, over the summer it would be moving like SHH is now. What happened, now there are maybe about 12 regulars.

Yeah, it's been slow here for me, too. :( Not so many folks around.

Oh come on.
There are more than 12.
But there used to be a lot more.

Stop saying that! I just got here a few months ago! Cinema Confidential, FunkDiggityFresh, they all had hundreds of members posting on a daily basis, and then one day, there were just a hundred, and then the next day, there were just a few dozen, and then finally, just before BOTH boards fell apart and shut down, there were only a few of us left. What's happening here? It's that f**king MySpace thing isn't it? They're ruining it for all of us! Sorry... I needed to vent a little.

Yeah, I don't see us ever getting that bigg again unless there is The Hobbit & Star Wars Ep 7, 8 and 9 at one time. I hope we never get the Star Wars movies.

Actually I think we are doing pretty good. When I first came here someone told me that I shouldnt expect to stay because most new people bail after a couple weeks and now I have been here 7 or 8 months.

Yeah well I knew I was gonna stay because I was reading the forums since I was like 10 but never made an account but one day years later I gave into temptation.

I think myspace has a lot to do with why message boards are so slow... who would you rather chat with online-- people you know or people you don't? I remember when chat rooms were the place to be and it's gravitated from that to message boards.. and now myspace. The thing I do like about message boards as compared to myspace is that it's supposed to be a fun place to hear other people's ideas in a structured way - i.e. threads while myspace is less structured and you're keeping the convo going with only one person instead of many.

Over the years that I've been here, we've always had our spurts of heavy activity and spurts of drought. I personally don't read much into it. I can't speak for everyone else, but I've actually had a life lately, so thats why I haven't been here much lately. Perhaps other regulars have had the same success.

I guess people (even the Clown) eventually move on with their lives and stop coming here to these boards. Can't say as I blame ya'. I'm heading in that same direction, but I still love coming here. But I do agree that it has been WAY less active in the past 2 years or so and it IS because of Myspace. But hey, Myspace will die out in the next 6 years or less. Hell I joined barely a year ago, and I feel like I no longer need it.

im not there is no work for me. The reason is because the job im doing is being taken over by another branch in UK. Im just here if they are having trouble at first. My new job starts next month. Im just sitting here if UK need my help.

"Im just sitting here if UK need my help" That's some good sentence structure there. Why would the UK need your help? Do you work for MI5 or MI6 or something?

I work as a dispatcher for engineers in Ireland and recently the UK branch have taken over, and since I know Ireland a bit better than they do, Im just here if they need any help about the Ireland engineers. So far they seem to be ok as I've not answered any of their calls.

Yeah same here. I come and go, there are days when I am here all the time. And there are days when I have a life and can't come in as much.
But to say it gets dead is ridiculous. I've seen some boards where people only come in once a week to post, or months rather.

i started reading these boards in 2001-02 and started an account in summer of 03.....then I lurked for a long time.....i used to work in restaurants so my schedule was erratic....now I work at a desk job that allows me to surf the internet all day long....so I actually have time to post. Hence the "Ex-Lurker" under my avatar.
I was most active back in late 03 when my band was getting going and I used to post songs in the CS! Poetry thread and creative corner.....lol....then I got hooked on TV shows (like LOST, Heroes, Galactica etc...) and when I got my desk job in February I found myself reading the discussions A LOT and finnally remembered my user name and password......:)
My posts have gone from 200 to 568 in the last month or so....

A board will seem dead to the person who posts a lot. Doesn't seem dead to me.
Not right now, anyways. ;)

I posted a LOT more when the star wars forum existed, mainly because I actually had something I could talk about and not sound like an idiot.
Due to the fact I have no friends or money and rarely get to see new movies and I'm worryingly uninformed about most topics, I don't feel I really have anything worth discussing here anymore. I've pretty much become a lurker the last year or so..
I just like to keep up with discussions people are having and get the latest scoops so that whenever I overhear some smartass having a conversation about a film and stating false rumours from months ago as fact, I can get annoyed at how hideously mistaken they are.

Hence my name... lol... I used to post like a mofo on the LOTR forum on every message board. JoBlo, Cinecon, MJ, FDF, AICN, SHH and CS!. I mainly stuck to Cinecon though. Got my post count up to 12,000+ just in the LOTR forums alone on Cinecon, lmmfao. That f**king trilogy almost cost me my sanity. I thank the gods it's behind me. May they never make a Hobbit, for it will take me beyond the edge to a point of no return for sure.

I wouldn't call these boards dead, but they're certainly a lot more peaceful when SHH isn't down. There are some cool people from those boards but ye gods it's impossible to keep up with all that posting. Honestly, I prefer it to be a little "slower" so I don't have to read through 6 pages of posts to catch up what happened in the last day.
Tolkien

When the SHH went down it was like a web-war zone up in here. lol.
I remember them trying to start their own SHH theads and everything.
I still strongly believe though that Fighting American came with them.

Well, something I've noticed from being a SHH member for four years is this:
You get a few SHHers on a message board, no matter which ones, or what board, but they will ALWAYS try to terraform the new site into a SHH-clone. I've seen it happen with a lot of spin-off sites, and that's why I've kept SHH invites t o my forum at a minimum. It's not that they mean harm, but it's there.

Ditto. If you can pinpoint the interesting stuff within it's mess of fast moving, cluttered threads, it can be good. Since it has so many users, plenty of good info gets circulated through there. Otherwise, though, it's just a bit too crazy for my liking.
CS! is a nice middle ground. It's not dead, but it's not "OMG, where'd that thread go?! I only left for a couple hours!" either. ;)
