Rage Against The Machine, the seminal L.A. band that made heavy music into political manifesto, will reunite after a seven-year lull for one show as the headliners at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Sources say Rage, which played the main stage at the first Coachella in 1999, will be joined by other familiar faces for the eighth edition of the festival, which covers three days this year and begins April 27: Red Hot Chili Peppers, which headlined in 2003, are back, as is Björk, who topped the bill in 2002.

It's not clear which day Rage or the other acts were slotted to play; that announcement is expected in the next few days. Other acts expected in the eclectic lineup: Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Manu Chao, the Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Air, Tiësto and Kings Of Leon.

Rage, which broke through in 1992 with the defiant single "Killing in the Name," won fans across the social spectrum with singer Zack de la Rocha's rap-based lyrics backed by the band's hard-rock melodies. They topped the U.S. pop album charts in 1996 with "Evil Empire" and in 1999 with "The Battle of Los Angeles."

i hope they do more than just one show!!

Great, I wonder what they'll be pissed off about this time? I sure hope we don't have to hear about why we're all evil bastards for being Americans, again.

In their defense, I'm American, and I'm an evil bastard. So they're at least somewhat right. ;)

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't talk either. :D

I guess I'd go see them if I had the chance, especially considering the other bands participating. But the minute they dropped their pants, or started sermonizing, I'd be out of there. God I hate being preached at! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v58/Honushi/smilies/neutral.gif

With RATM, The Police, and maybe Genesis this looks like the year of unlikely reunions actually coming true. I guess there is hope for The Smiths after all.

One can only hope. But I'm with you on that one. The Queen is Dead is just too good.

That will never happen. They offered Morrissey was offered 5 million dollars to reunite for one show and he wouldn't do it. Hell he even said he'd rather eat his own testicals than reunite with the smiths

I for one am glad that Genesis reformed. They were definitely gonna get together again. I still have my fingers crossed that Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett may rejoin them again.

Now this is a reunion I'm looking forward to. The Dio era Black Sabbath lineup is touring this year as Heaven and Hell. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Ronnie James Dio is back. YESSS!!!! :D

Screw Ozzy and the evil $haron Osbourne. After what she did to Iron Maiden at Ozzfest a couple years ago not to mention the abominations which were the 2002 remasters of Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, I shall never spend a cent on anything Ozzy again. :nono:
