Any News on when The Departed will be on dvd? ive heard many dates wondering what you guys know about it. :)

I don't think there is any news yet, christ it's only been in theaters for five weeks. I understand your exitement though, that movie is SWEET. It may take a while for DVD news. This type of movie tends to justate in theaters longer then teen driven type stuff.

Apparently it's actually going to be realeased early on DVD. I haven't seen any actual sources regarding this, but only another thread on this board.

The idea makes sense. The film has huge Oscar potential, and usually films get bootlegged like crazy around Oscar time. People steal Oscar viewing DVD's. I'm assuming that Scorsese plans to avoid that by realeasing the DVD before hand.

I brought this up some time ago, rumor has it that it'll probably be out on Feb. 20th. A two-disc version, I hope.

I wonder what kind of extras will be on this set. I can dream up a great two-disc release, but the film's just a well made drama so in depth featurettes on visual effects, costume design, etc. aren't really necessary.

Thinking of it in that regard, all it really needs is a set of good commentaries (I'm thinking three: director & editor, cast, and writer tracks) and deleted scenes.

Of course, I won't complain if we get more. :)
