Sony has announced Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the latest CG-animated feature based on the Playstation game. The two-disc special edition will be available to own from the 25th April, and should retail at around $26.96. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with the original Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Optional English subtitles will also be provided, along with an additional English dub. The extras will include a Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII featurette, a making of featurette entitled 'The Distance', some Venice Film Festival footage, deleted scenes, a sneak peak at upcoming Final Fantasy VII games, trailers, and more. We've attached a small shot of the package artwork below:

some news one the english cast:

The stars of the game's English-language cast were also revealed today. Steve Burton, who gamers may know as the voice of Cloud Strife in the Kingdom Hearts games, was a lock to reprise the role of Cloud for the movie, but two Hollywood starlets will also become very familiar to FF fans soon. Rachael Leigh Cook (Josie and the Pussycats, She's All That) and Mena Suvari (American Beauty, Six Feet Under) will voice Tifa and Aerith, respectively, in both Advent Children and the upcoming PlayStation 2 game Kingdom Hearts II.

haha I have a downloaded japanese version and usually I prefer the japanese with subtitles, but its just the principal of actually going out and buying it to support it. Plus the special features sound nice.

They said they were keeping the voice actors the same for everything, so the voice actors for Kingdom Hearts will always do the characters in anything else. If they remake VII with voices, these guys will do it, just like in Dirge of Cerberus, they will be voiced by these guys. At least thats what Square wants, I don't see why the actors wouldn't though.

If Mena Suvari did the voice of Aerith in Kingdom hearts 2 then she should be removed from the movie ASAP. the voice actress in KH2 was awefull really annoying and didn't even match the voice of the japaness actress who Nailed Aerith Voice. As for Tifa character Rachel didn't bother me as much with her voice. Even though I normaly watch Japan Anime only in Japanese do to them always ****ing up the Dub with some bad acting. I was hoping FF7:AC wouldn't be the case since FF:X had some really good Voice ACtors.

I'm not a gamer but got sucked into the world of FF7AC due to my gaming daughter. Now I'm addicted! LOL. Got the English and Japanese versions and can't stop watching.:P

There was a discussion of this movie then when it came out on DVD, the discussion just died. I'm curious as to if I was the only one disappointed in the DVD. I pictured it knowing I'd love it, but ended up being terribly disappointed, just like I was with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

I wasn't disappointed. I loved it. I mean it can't touch the games but thats over 30 hours of gameplay and storyline. Kinda hard to get anywhere near the depth of that in a movie even if it was three hours. So for a movie, I loved it.
