I see in the Teaser for POTC2, they have Hans Zimmer's name listed for the music credit. Any idea if he'll be using Klaus Badelt's themes?

There was a theme? :) I believe Zimmer produced the first film's score. I'm glad he's taking over, because there was room for improvement.

I think Klaus Badelt scored the first film, not Hans Zimmer.
And the main theme was called 'He's A Pirate'. They used it in one of the trailers for the new Zorro film. It's definitely recognisable.

I didn't say Klaus didn't score the first film, he did. But Zimmer still produced it.

I actually liked the score in the first film. Really much. It suited the movie perfectly in my opinion.
You didnt like it?

Things can always get better ;)
But back to the first question; I think its safe to assume that he will be using new versions of some of the themes of the first film. Thats just an assumption though.

I think Klaus Badlet's score was enjoyable. Unfortunately it did not suit a pirate film very well (with the exception of a few parts). It was just the same old stuff rehashed. I hope Zimmer comes up with something more swashbuckling for the sequel.

First movies score wasnt Zimmer but sounded like the generic Zimmer soundtrack. They usually all sound the same, but recent efforts like Batman Begins have been better due to his collaboration with James Newton Howard.

Hu?
The Ring, Black hawk down, Last Samurai, Hannibal, The prince of Egypt, The Fan, True Romance, Rain Man, doestnt sound the same.
I guess you are reffering to King Arthur, The Rock, Broken Arrow, Tears of the Sun and sort of Gladiator which has a distinctive feel to it, but ey, Zimmer's made much more then just that mate.
Zimmer has done over 100 movies, and trust me; you would be surprised many of them is his.
