This show is actually shaping up to being cool so far, I read some reviews that say this show is actually decent. The cool thing is that Bruce Wayne may make a cameo too during the season.
There's also rumors suggesting that once the show ends (if it's a success for like 5 seasons) then we may see Tom Welling as the new Superman.

I'm really looking forward to Smallville. I love Superman and I think his coming of age story is prime for translation to a weekly show.
But of course, there are those pesky other shows on at that time:

No, I've seen a Superman porn. And I must say, "The Man of Steel" isn't a very acurate nickname! From the looks of things, it shoudl be more like "the Man of Limp Spaghetti" Have you ever thought of using viagra, Supes?

I just read an article about this show in Entertainment Weekly or US or something.
Let me get this straight- Tom Welling is a HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN in this show? Did I read that wrong? Tom Welling is TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD! I'm one of the oldest freshman in my school, and I'm ten years younger than he is!
I know they make older people play teenagers, but this is way too far. Do these people even know that most freshman are 14 or 15 years old?
Please tell me that this was a typo and he's actually a college freshman in this show...

Look, he was born in 1977.

this is not the first time that superman and age didn't make sence. i have the superman SP dvd and it has a seen right after clark races the train and they show the little girl in the train and it lois. and she looks to be about 10 and there is only 12 years from then to the time that they meet, so that would make clark 30 and lois 22 but then that would make lois still in school. and christopher was in his early 20s when he did the movie and margo was in her late 20's and worked out fine.

You're talkin' about Superman: The Movie, right?
If you are... you are right indeed! Another interesting thing about that scene, is the "mother" of Lois Lane on the train was Noel Neill who played Lois Lane in the old 50's "Adventures of Superman" tv series!

Well Clark's first show was less than spectacular, but it has potential. Welling is perfect for Superman, but it would have been better if they had him out of high school, and traveling the world coming across different adventures, it would have been a much better premise in my opinion. Welling looks huge over those kids, he looks more like school sercurity then a actual student. I read on another site that the WB would consider using Welling as Supes for the next movie after 5 years if the show is successful. I don't like the whole concept of kryptonite giving humans powers, because krytonite doesn't give humans powers, and I think this is a concept that can get old fast if relied on to heavily. The Fx were very good for tv, hell it was better then some movies, but the fight scene between Clark and the eletric guy was cheesy, but Clark's tone and manner was dead on, they actually nailed him perfectly, now if only the show picks up, but it's only the first one, so i'll give it a chance for the first season, unless it becomes unwatchable. I would prefer if Lex wasn't in smallvile at all, but he works and it should be interesting to see the development down the road. My only fear that is that Smallvile will become like Roswell or Dawsons Creek guest starring Superman, and loaded with teen agnst.

I thought it was pretty good, a lot better than i expected it to be. I thought Welling did a good job at playing Clark. i think this show has some major potential, lets just hoep they don't screw it up.

I saw parts of it but plan to see the rest (I taped it) and from what I saw I liked. Hey how was Clark supposed to know he's an alien? He looks human and acts human, he knows he has special abilities, but didn't think he was from another world since he looks like everyone else.
Anyways, Lois & Clark strated out as a great show in it's first season but stunk each season after. Let's hope they do well with this, Welling looks good as the young Kent.

I actually think it fits that he doesn't look like a freshman...
he's big for his age, just like in the comic books.
Kryptonite doesn't give humans powers? What about Conduit?
and about traveling the world.... that would work perfect if this was a show about Bruce Wayne.

Wasn't their special circumstances involving Kenny Braggerman's gaining powers through kryptonite? At any rate it shouldn't be an easy explaination for powering up the villians. I can accept some kryptonite mutations, but it is lazy storytelling at it worst if it is overused, which I fear it will be, and it will get old fast.

Just to give you the heads up, the show clocked in at 68 minutes, so if you preset your VCR for an hour, and the WB gave no indication that it was longer than an hour, you more then likly missed the last ten minutes of it if you wern't informed. Damn the WB for not letting us know, I had to ask a freind who was at home what happened, but luckily he recorded it, but unluckily he lives about 40 miles away.

Well at the beginning Clark was surfin the net and he was reading articles on people displaying extrordinary gifts, so he may have thought he was like them. I don't think his parents knew he had powers, until he stuck his hand in the chipper, because their wasn't any indication given that they were aware of his gifts. Yet another minor complaint I had.

after that the bad guy didnt remember anything. Clark went into the dance and saw Lana kissing her BF, he went outside and he stacked up her BF and his friend's trucks like pancakes. he went home and told his dad that he's glad they found him. Then he looked at Lana's house and day dreamed that she was in his room. then he saw the guys dropping Lana off. and he said "thanks for the dance" and she turned around as if she heard it. THE END.

Hello All I have to say I liked Smallville..I am not sure if I like the fact of Lex & Clark being buddies...would that not mean that in the future Lex would know Clark is Supes? Lana is really cute...good choice with picking her.
Question? I have seen posted that the girl on the train in Superman:The Movie is supposee to be Lois...how do we know this and where did the info come from? I did know that her mom was Lois from the old Superman Series. Might have to purchase that DVD soon. Anyway..thought it was a great show and I hope it lasts.

I haven't seen the movie in years, but oddly enough I remember this. When Clatk outraced the train little Lois was watching him, and he waved at her and made it across the tracks before the train, and Lois turns to her mother and says something to the effect of a man running faster then the train, I can't remember the exact dialogue, but her mother says to her, stop fibbing Lois, or something along those lines.

The show was pretty cool. it showed clark getting up with the red blanket, like a cape. then him in the graveyard, standing in front of an angel and the wings were positioned perfectly. there was some more but i forget. i am gonna make a point to actualy watch it. the spaceship looked like a peice of turd or a pinecone.

Yeah like the same effect you get when Rogue from the X-men movie drains your power. The production team must have took references from everywhere. Well I can't complain, at least they didn't draw anything from Mutant X.

I have two questions about Superman that I need answered. 1. Why is Krytonite lethal to him? Someone pointed me to a site for the answer, but all the site did would tell the effects that the different forms of Krytonite have on him. 2. How exactly is Superman able to fly? Another explaination that I sought, and no luck getting it answered. Some of the other Superhumans in comics have explainations as to why their able to fly, I just want to know how Supes powers lets him fly.

Well, from my understanding.... he's only superhuman because he's a Kryptonian on Earth. If he were on Krypton, he would be normal. Our sun reacted specially with his "Kryptonianness" and gave him superhuman powers. But it also made him "allergic" to other Kryptonian things: hence, Kryptonite.

Well this is what I know.
Krypton's gravity is a lot stronger than earth. Thus, molecular structure of everything there is more dense. Which is why he cant be harm by anything on earth.
And he passed many planet on the way to earth, and the different radiation of various planets affected him. For some reason, the sun gives him super energy. That's a little off, but it's suppose to be the reason why he's superfast and why he can fly.
Kryptonites wouldn't hurt him, but when Krypton exploded every little pieced got radiated by the energy of the explosion. Superman can't be harm by any radiation on earth. But radiation from his planet can kill him.

Well, how do you explain Supe's x-ray vision, frost breathe, and laser eye beam? Or did the writers decided to omit those powers from the teenaged Clark Kent?
Lackey

The explosion that destroyed Krypton, made the kryptonite fragments radioactive.... since it is radioactive, it is harmful to anyone, but more so to a native of Krypton.
I'm not sure of the details, but Kryptonians were genetically linked to their planet (a reason why there weren't more survivors)... if they left their planet for an extended period of time, they would get sick and die.
Jor-El found a "cure" to this problem and that is why he was able to save Kal-El. This genetic link has something to do with why the Kryptonite affects Superman more...but, like I said, I don't know the details.

Superman is a living solar battery. Ever since he landed on Earth, he has been absorbing the power of the sun. No one knows the limits of Superman's ability to absorb solar energy. As he absorbed more and more energy, he developed these abilities...which really didn't start to show until his late teens. So...to the writers, he hasn't fully developed the full potential of his powers.
As far as flight... I don't know...there's a lot of heroes we don't know how they fly (or how they're other powers work)... how does Rogue fly? How does telekinetics work anyway...or telepathy?
There's more, I just can't think of any right now.

Telepathy works with the ability of the person with telepathy to control brainwaves. I'm pretty sure that a telepath picks up the brainwaves of others, thus givng them the abilty to read minds, and as far as manipulation of the mind, they are able to alter and manipulate the brainwaves for specific functions. TK works the same as telepathy, again it has to do with them controling brainwaves. Their is a specific brainwave that is powerful enough to move items in the physical reality. Our brains have various brain waves or thought patterns, which all have a specific function. It's been theorized that we can't control all of our brainwaves voluntarily, and the ones that are suspected to give people telepathty, TK, and precognitive or even projecting our consciousness from our physical bodies are beyond our ability to control do to the fact that our brains haven't evolved enough to the point where we can control them. I swear I read this in a scientific magazine a few years ago at college, however some of the counter points were that this was in theory only, so you can take it for what it's worth, but remember, and I'm sure you all know that we only use like 10% of our brain, and the real question is what would we be able to do with the other 90 percent?
Rogue absorbed Ms Marvel's powers, and for the life of me I can't remember how it was that she was able to fly, Damn I used to know that, but it's a believable reason as far as comic explainations go.

The thing that puts Marvel ahead of DC is that when Marvel created some of their characters, some of the creators actually put some thought into it, and came up with an explaination to be explained from a scientific point of view. DC didn't do this as well as Marvel, but in DC's defense some of their character like Superman were created in the 30's, so people probably didn't question it from a scientific point, and they probably didn't have comic columes where fans could write in with questions. In today's time, we are more smarter, and we want everything to be explained for the purpose of believability. Superman was just created, and given these powers that some would consider godlike, and back then I don't think the creators considered or even thought that fans would one day want an explaination for his super abilities, and how they worked, hell Superman was so strong in pre-crisis that he could move planets, and I'm not even going to start the list of the impossiablity of that action. Yeah I can accept that his body absorbs solar radiation, and some of his gifts are a result of this, like the heat vision for example, or his strength, but what about the freeze breath? Does he even still have this power? I've only seen the super breath in the comics since i've been reading. I think I heard something about his molecular structure being denser then humans, and our gravity had a different affect on him, and he can fly becuase of it, but I'm not sure if this is accurate. I just want to know how the hell he flies?

Super breath.... well, I this same discussion is kind of going on at SMH! as well, so I'll just copy and paste what I put there...
Well, how about this...
He can take in a greater mass of air and hold it in his lungs under high pressure... when this highly pressurized air is released by his strong force, it is extremely cold from being released from the high pressure...and hence..super-cold.
I mean, isn't this the way liquid oxygen was first made, and the way those cans of gum remover work that are nothing more than pressurized carbon dioxide? So, I don't think it's too far fetched...I mean, according to the gas laws, temperature, pressure and volume are related, right? Been a while since I've been in a chemistry class.

Superman

The beauty of comics is that anything is possible, and not everything has to be logical or explained when it comes to some characters and their powers. The post-crisis Superman is in fact a bit weaker and much more vulnerable.
Superman, from what I understand in pre-crisis, didn't really fly. He lept (hence able to leap over tall buildings), and from their he could control his flight. I think it may work the same way in post-crisis, he kinda leaps or it's just his body mass differs here. Like ours on the moon except he can control it.

Well about the Smallville plots, before the show came out they revealed that the show will deal with Clark, the meteor shower and the effects in Smallville. From what I hear Luthor Industry is being blamed for using toxic substances that are causing these problems. My theory is that if Luthor is blamed, and he knows the truth about Clark and Krypton, then this may begin the rivalry between the two since Clark is really responsible and everyone blames Luthor.
Superman fights super humans in the comics, in the show it's the same deal only it's at a younger age. Also rumor has it that Bruce Wayne may show up in an episode or two eventually, cool!

Ok:
1. YES!!!
2. Only seen 2 episodes...mainly about how Clark must learn to control his developing powers, and deal with the typical Kryptonite-powered villan (from the meteor shower that brought him to earth. Smallvile is now loaded with it - even Lana's necklace has Kryptonite in it!)
3. Not as a hobby, but he does lay the smack down on the aforementioned villans when he must...
4. Can anything acheive that level of backwardness? ;) It's not a show about balancing superheroics with sitcom drama (Lois & Clark) - it's a show about Clark trying to learn about himself and the "changes" he's going through, and, oh yeah, also having typical teenage problems: fitting in at school, loving someone who does not share your feelings... :(

I just saw the episode where Clark joins the football team. Damn, Luthor deos seem too much of a nice guy, but I think his intentions have a greater evil than good. He wasn't saving those jobs for the workers because he's a good guy, he's doing it to defy his father. If his father said to save the workers, Lex would do the opposite. I think that coffee scene was funny where Clark asks Lex "Is that what you ordered" and Lex says "Not even close." This was after Lana served Lex his drink.
I just caught the last half hour of this tonight. (my first viewing of it)
I have a question . . . what the hell happened with that old lady? She sees some bizarro hippie world with Lex in it when she touches Lex's hand, then she dies, making Supes say "She saw her future!"
Huh? Why would her future have Lex in it, and why would it be triggered when she touches Lex's hand? All very confusing, especially since I missed the first half hour . . .

I personally intepreted that Clark misread the situation. I don't think he made the connection between the old lady and Lex.
My take is that symbolically (and physically) anything that Lex touches (as in the vision) dies.

I think what he meant was because the fact that earlier in the episode, when the old lady says "Someone close to you will die", she was predicting her own death without realizing it. I don't think the vision that she had of Luther was connected to her in any way except for the fact it was so creepy, it probably gave her a heart attack or something.

Especially since it's Clark, not Superman, who publicly does the saving! But, she dosen't stay mad long...Clark does good for her birthday, with (suprise) some help from Lex!
My (female) cousin asked me why Clark would hang out with Lana and torture himself. My reply was "been there." And anyone else who has been there understands! ;) Ahh, I love it - I have the same relationship problems as Superman!
And once again, we see Lex the bad-ass in action, using blackmail to discover more about the "meteor rocks."

I like the show, but I'm REALLY getting tired of the "krypto-monster of the week." It's getting old. Come on writers! There's much more to Clark/Superman then warding off monsters!

I saw the episode with the woman that could see the future, I like the foreshadowing of Clark being Superman. What I thought would be cool in seeing Lex's future is having all those skeletons around him, and from above instead of raining blood I'd have a shadowy figure with cape floating looking down at him, his face hidden is in shadows but you can see the "S."

I must admit, I like the show better than I thought I would when first hearing about it. A pretty good series despite being an unauthorized, and factually flawed biography of me. But I won't nit-pick the details (that's my lawyer's job). I just wish evryone didn't turn into kryptonite monsters. I mean that doesn't happen in Metropolis, why in Smallville?

Because Metropolis didn't get hit by a meteor shower that contain kryptonites, only Smallville. In fact, kryptonites are everywhere in Smallville. I guess Supes would try to get all of them in a safe place before he leaves for Metropolis.

Yeah the show is good but they need to get rid of the whole Kryptonite mutation thing. If it's so harmful why hasn't Lana morphed into something since she use to wear a piece around her neck since she was little?

the bands name is REMY ZERO and the title song's name is SAVE ME. They show the video on MTV and MTV2 if you get those channels it's a new band and their geting airplay because of the show. it's a plain bland video they should change it and show cuts and bits from the show then the single will blow up, hey look what it did for SIX PENCE NONE THE RICHER with KISS ME it was on the Dawsons creek soundtrack and She's all that, movie soundtrack. but you guys know that because you all love Freddy Prinze Jr movies right???

This is old news but I got it at Comics Continum.
Hers it is:
AL GOUGH TALKS SMALLVILLE
Smallville executive producer Al Gough told The Continuum that viewers should look for a mix of story-telling approaches in the second half of the show's first season.
While Smallville has been a record-setting ratings success for The WB, getting a full-season pick-up, and receiving extremely positive reviews, the one recent nit-pick has been for its early "freak of the week" formula, where a citizen of of Smallville gets affected by Kryptonite and Clark ultimately has to stop him or her.
"We are aware of it," Gough told The Continuum. "When you first start a show, you want to set it up so that people can understand the core concept. And we've done that.
"The second part of the season, some of the shows don't involve Kryptonite, some show it differently and we'll get to see Metropolis. We plan on mixing it up well."
Gough touched on several other aspects of Smallville during a telephone interview on Thursday night with The Continuum.
* On reports of a young Bruce Wayne appearing in the show: "It's something we'd love to have happen. It's all about licensing with DC, mixing properties. Quite honestly, it's something the show will have to earn the respect so DC will open up to it and make it work on a business level. And Jenette Kahn and Paul Levitz have been big supporters and love the show.
"It's something that would have to happen in the second or third seasons. It's something we would love to see happen."
* On other DC characters showing up: "Down the road, we'd like to explore Lois Lane and Perry White and other characters from the Superman universe."
* On Clark becoming a reporter: "At the moment, we're toying with him not being very interested in it and not being very good at it." Gough said that Chloe "absolutely" will be Clark's impetus to get into journalism.
* On the positive press and fan response to the show: "It's been great. You do one of these things, and you're tackling the Holy Grail of super-heroes. But the response has been terrific from the Superman fans, and they're the toughest audience. The people at DC Comics are fans of the show, they love it, and this is after Lois and Clark, and they hated it.
"I have friends who call me up and say they watch the show with their kids. We're getting an interesting cross section of people who have been fans of Superman for a long time along with fresh eyes who are enjoying it as well. It's so good to see things click."
* On Smallville's production schedule: "We're about halfway through the first season and we're a couple of episodes ahead of that in scripts. After the first of the year, we'll get into the home stretch."
* On the overall plan for the show: "It's flexible. We know where we want to be after the first season and the second season and at the beginning of the third, and we'll take it from there.
"The last shot of the last episode will have him putting on the suit and flying off to Metropolis. Clark leaves Smallville and leaves for Metropolis."
* On comics being turned into television series or movies: "I think it's terrific, especially when the comics are treated respectfully. X-Men was terrific, and I'm really looking forward to Spider-Man. I thought the first two Batman movies were great. When they get to the core of the characters, it can be really fun."

Hello All Watched last nights episode of Smallville..it was a good one ..one great thing about it was no Krypto-Monster..finally. Lets hope they have stopped having them all together. Looks as though Lex could figure out Clark's secret. Lets hope not yet. Well thats all I have to say.
Why was Clark's dad cleared of all charges? I didn't get that. Even if they found the corrupt cop stealing the breastplate thing, they wouldn't automatically assume that that meant Mr. Kent was innocent.

Good question....
I always assumed Metropolis was on the east coast, but from the last episode, I assume it's in Kansas (at least for the show)! I was wondering why:
-Jon and Martha spent their anneversary there
-Whitney and Lana were going to a concert there
-A cop from there was in Smallville investigating the bus crash...
When the cop drove Clark to the IA guy's apartment, it hit me that Metropolis must not be all that far from Smallville...
kryptonian_boy
01-20-2002, 02:33 PM
Or, maybe it's not necessarily in Kansas. Like Chicago, it could just be in the Midwest. Smallville could be on the Kansas borderline. Metropolis wouldn't necessarily be all that far away then, if it's also close to a state line.

I've been watching all the episodes currently been shown over here in England, we've only had about 5 episodes so far but I have to say that it's very good upto now, it's as good as Roswell. I'm glad that it's set in our time rather than be set around the 1950s or 60s. What was the name of the character that Annette O'Toole played in Superman 3 film, is it the same character as Lana Lang played by Kristin Kreuk? One more question, did Lex Luthor know Clark Kent when he was 18, I thought they met later on in Metropolis when Clark becomes Superman.

Yep, Smallville is getting heated up now towards the end of the season, one more episode to go now.
Lana as always had more than friendship feelings for Clark, it's just that she never let her true feelings show before.
Everyone in the school knows that Clark 'likes' Lana and even Lana herself knew this but she always played it safe and stuck with Whitney. While all along Chloe was madly in love with Clark but Clark was to love struck with Lana to notice.
Breath.
However, Clark now seems to have closed the door with Lana and as seen Chloe as more than a friend. Bad timing or what as Lana now realises that she's been holding her feelings back.
Just let me catch my breath.
Confusing, don't I know it.

yes, the chick playing Lana is mad hot.
We all know how it will end, though.
Clark and Lana get together, he dumps her and goes to Metropolis, then Lana marries the black guy.

alright this is a question that may have been answered.......but in "The New (or ond) Adventures of Superman" when his parents come to Metropolis they sometimes say they will get on the plane straight away (i think) but in one SmallVille's eps Clark and Lana (i think) where on one of the windmills and they could see Metropolis in the distance.....any one care to have a stab at this one?
They decided to change the location of Metropolis so it's in Kansas right next to Smallville. I don't know why they decided to do that.

Why doesn't Superman wear a face mask?
In the Superman films with Chris Reeves, when he plays Clark, he is real geaky and not much of a ladies man and he looks like he wouldn't last in a fight but when he transforms into Superman, he looks a suave super hero. But surely even Louis would see this eventually and the Superman logo is from the 'S' at Smallville high school, Clark didn't intend for the 'S' to stand for Superman, that's just what people called him instead.
In the New Adventures Of Superman, it was so obvious that Clark was Superman even a blind man could tell.
In Smallville when Clark eventually becomes Superman I don't see his facial expression changing much, it's not like he's a geak.

Lionel Luthor closes the Smallville plant...and blames it on Lex publicly!
Whitney leaves to join the marines to follow his father's footsteps. He asks Lana to wait for him, and Clark to watch over her....hmmm...
A tornado hits Smallville as Lionel and Lex get ready to come to blows....but then the roof comes down on them! The scene cuts with Lionel pinned to the floor, begging Lex to help him...
The tabloid reporter knows Clark's secret...and Jonathon chases him from the cellar to outside in the middle of the storm. Martha stays behind to witness the spaceship come to life!
Finally, the show ends with Lana being swept up in the huge tornado, with Clark running in after her at super speed!

I heard that Chloe wasn't even originally supposed to be a love itnerest, and was supposed to just remain as the quirky sidekick. But then the producers really liked the way the actress played the character so they gave Chloe a much bigger role.

If you was Clark Kent who would you choose: Lana or Chloe?
Lana is now available (that long distance crap never works) now that Whitney is out of the picture.
Chloe, she fancies Clark like mad. Would be very easy to hook up together.

What I don't get is why Superman's parents in this show won't let him play sports. They could be making a ton of money, but they don't do it because they're scared he might hurt somebody?

His parents also don't want him to use his powers in public because then people will see how different he is and begin investigating them. Eventually he will be exposed as an alien and that is the one thing they don't want.

i like chloe being there, she is very cute and a great character in the Smallville series. I don't want to see Clark and Lana hook up that fast already, maybe in the 4th or the 5th season hehehe. Yeah, I think I'll wait for the whole season to come out. They better do it soon!
Jarbacca
10-05-2002, 01:29 PM
they should do it soon, but i think smallvile only has 3-4 more years in it left
not that the show will be cancelled but that clark (who can only play a 16 year for so long) will probably grow up and go to college and the series will shift to metropolis (clark will probably attend metropolis university for journalism)
i think it would be cool, if clark did do that, and maybe he got an internship at the daily planet, and then he could start to become superman, the producers could also introduce lois
i would love that, cause smallville is great, but i would love to see tome welling grow into superman

I really wish that Lana Lang will change her name to Lois Lane, because besides Clark, Lana is my favorite character. Mainly because she's just so hot and innocent. I mean, Lana Lang and Lois Lane. The names are very similar. When I first started watching the show I thought that Lana's last name was Lane. I know we're talking 3-4 years down the road, but even then I would hate to see Lana go.
Jarbacca
10-06-2002, 12:44 PM
well if they did go to college in metropolis, the producers could make it so that clark, lana, peter, and chloe all go to school together, and since chloe is lois' cousin that is how they could introduce lois
then their would be alot of love tension, chloe would love clark, and clark would still love lana, but have new feelings for lois
and pete,... well pete maybe he could become friends with jimmy olsen:)
BlakeAE77
10-06-2002, 03:08 PM
Chloe is Lois' cousin? How do you know?
Jarbacca
10-06-2002, 04:15 PM
well its always been implied, but the producers have anounced that she is infact lois lanes cousin

Can't wait for tonight's episode! I got the scoops on next weeks episode....
I'm not going to give anything away, but Clark gets his class ring which is made from kryptonite. He becomes "uncontrolable" and threatens his family and friends.
Jarbacca
10-08-2002, 07:27 PM
yeah, and the kryptonite is red kryptonite, so it will be like in superman 3 where clark becomes a jerk

10-09-2002, 10:49 AM
i'm glad its pete who knows the secret, the show just wouldn't work if lana or chloe were the ones who knew
but i'm, starting to wonder how will clark be able to keep his identity once he becomes superman, because so far the show has only been on for a year and a little bit and already alot of people know clarks secret

well not many people know his secret, technically only one person knows now, and that's Pete, u can't really count clark's parents because they already knew before clark even knew.

Ok, today at school someone said that Lana will die before Clark becomes Superman. Someome explain this to me so I can go ahead and brace myself. I knew that Lana wasn't part of Clark's life when he's older, but she dies?

Well, this is a rumor that's been going around the internet. Personally, I haven't heard this from the creators of the show, nor was this part of the comics continuity.
Ultimately, I doubt that this will happen.

Well, I feel better that it's only a rumor, but when I think about it her death makes since.
Anyway, I know that there's alot of posts and threads floating around the boards about the casting of Superman, but now that I'm a huge fan of Smallville I couldn't see anybody other than Tom Welling play Superman.

hes got the looks and the talent, i just want to see him in the suit, and using his powers

Yeah, you're right. It is from the Superman Homepage. So I guess we'll see him fly before the end of the season.

Clark floating over Lana
it's from the first episode of season 1 (Pilot). Remember Clark is having a dream, and he is floating over Lana, but Lana opens her eyes and Clark wakes up, and he drops and breaks his bed. Later that day, he tells his father. That's the first time we see Tom Welling in the Smallville series, floating over his bed.

Oh, I never saw the pilot episode. That's why I'm patiantly waiting for the first season to come out on DVD. And I was really hoping that Clark would learn to fly this season.

I personally doubt you'll see him fly until the very last season. The creators of the show have even stated that you won't be seeing him fly or don the suit anytime until, perhaps, the last season.
Since flying "is out," there's really only one superpower left to be seen, "cold breath." I wonder when we'll see that?

i just hope they don't make up some powers, like in the movie Superman II. I think we'll see flying in the fourth season, with the third season exploring his cold breath.

I must have had a lapse in memory. ;)
But besides, super hearing... cold breath is one of superman's most well-known powers. I just wonder when & how they're goin' to bring that to the show?

tonight episode called Red was so amazing, tom welling was really good at playing a "bad" superman
that was so cool when he fired the bullets into his hand
BlakeAE77
10-15-2002, 10:35 PM
Loved tonights episode! I recorded it so I'll get to watch it as much as I want! Woohoo! He was great at playing a bad superman! Too bad he had to go and kiss another girl, but hey, next week's episode could be the week they finally hook up. I've noticed that this season Chloe's character plays a much smaller role, which is great. And Pete's role is a lot bigger, which is the way it should be....
But how did Clark not get in trouble for the destruction at the bar, and why didn't Jesse or her father report Clark to the police?
