Why can't they just stop Clark like they did in "Red", ya know, with a little sump'n sump'n called Kryptonite!?! I guess it would have been too easy and the show would not have been as creative.

Very great way to start the Season, I have a question for you all though what do you think the Price will be that Johnathan will pay when he got his powers?
Klimber
10-02-2003, 11:05 AM
I really liked the Season Premier, although it raised more questions than it answered:
1) Is Jonathon suseceptable to Kryptonite! Green or Red?? If that is the case then he just can't yank the ring off of Clark's finger or he would get juiced from the red Kryptonite. Oh yeah Evil Jonathon.
2) What is the reason that Clarks chest scar keeps glowing if he wears the ring for a certain amount of time. One would think if he built up an abundance of...Uh "red ring power", that just pulling off the ring for 30 seconds would not reset the ring's snooze button.
3) How the hell did Jonathon find Clark in Luthor's 60th floor office? You would think that ole Lionel would have security sensors or at least a tank of sharks with lasers on their freaking heads for his personal office.
4) Uh Clark what is up with buying a Lamborgini for one day???? Jeez at least you could have trashed it while hitting top speed, if you are resilent to bullets why not wrap a italian sports car around a tree doing 210 mph? Sound like fun.
5) Chloe what the hell were you thinking about when you got that hair cut, you had a cute, spunky hairdo that matched your personality...now not so much.
But great show all the same.

Someday I’ll soar
Someday I’ll be something much more
Cause I’m bigger than my body gives me credit for
Cause I’m bigger than my body now" (John Mayer)

Last nights episode was Phoenix, Lex "rose from the ashes." He's more...evil now I think. Last nights episode was great, Lana took the bad news a little too well though IMO. I wonder when he will finally reveal it to her. I think in the comics, he didn't do it until he was about to leave.

WTF was that???!
At the begining there is a scene of Clark and John fighting, then Clark throws a pipe at John to distract him, but the pipe flies only couple of meters and then falls down like some human have thrown it...
They have both super powers and superman throws a small pipe like a cicy??? And it would have been nothing for John to avoid it with his superspeed, but no, he was acting like it could kill him...

so, is the Pete in the comics the same person in the show (Pete Ross)
spiderman_2k
10-12-2003, 06:12 PM
Yeah same name..But different character...If you get what I mean...The Pete in Smallville is like a re-telling of the Pete from the comics.
Tony Montana
10-12-2003, 06:24 PM
Look, there are many differences between Smallville and the comic book like:
Lex is an orphan and became a criminal genius, built his empire and even became president of the US. People dont know how evil Lex is, only Superman is always in his way. Lex in comic is like Kingpin, only 1000 times more powerfull and intelligent.
Pete is a white guy from Smallville who started a great career as a politician, and started to work for Lex. Before that he married Lana Lang. After that you dont get to hear much about them.
Cloe doesnt exists in comic.
Metropolis is like NY, on the east cost, while Smallville is in Kansas, so there is no way you could see Metropolis skyline from Smallville like in the TV-serie.
There is much more, but they wanted to change the story and adapt it. Nothing bad about that, as long as they dont screw it too much.

BTW, I love the way they adapted Smallville from the comics. I think it's brilliant. I don't think we'll ever have to worry about Pete marrying Lana. With the way Smallville's been heading this season we won't see much of Pete at all. I have a feeling he won't be in the show much longer anyway. He's not that important of a character anymore. I wouldn't mind seeing him get written of the show. Maybe he could move away or something. And I don't think Lana's going to give up on Clark that easily. They'll get back together. Maybe they could even pull a Superman III and have Lana working at the Daily Planet...I smell a love triangle. No, they won't make it that far with the show.

Just because Lana was like that on Lois and Clark doesn't mean she'll be like that on Smallville. Lana's character has been different in everything I've seen her in....In Superman III she's a sweet woman that doesn't know about Clark's secret, on Lois and Clark she's a mean and demanding woman that bosses Clark around, and on Smallville she's a completely different character too. I think Lana would be able to handle Clark using his powers.

then there should be some reason why Clark doesn't pursue Lana and goes for Lois. I guess we have to wait until like the end of the series. It would be sad if Clark doesn't pursue her because her parents because of Clark's meteor shower :). I wonder what will happen when she finds out

After Lana said that everything would have been better off if the meteor shower didn't happen, I felt bad for Clark. That's probably why he doens't want to tell her...because he's afraid that she'll blame him for the death of her parents. Speaking of parents, what happened to Henry Small?

There are many mistakes in each episode, but this one was really stupid.
Just like Clark throwing small pipe at John (Clark - Johnathan fight in Metropolis) and it flies only couple of meters, really slow and falls down while Johnathan acts like it could kill him... LOL! I thought Superman can throw objects much faster and more powerfull than a cicy while Johnathan had superpowers too... so how exactly was that tossed pipe dangerous for him?? He could even take a lunch, sleep and read a book with his superspeed and still catch that pipe with his teeth...

maybe he just had hallucinations because he's actually crazy and not because he was sick...
and anyways, malaria isn't like most other diseases, it is caused by protozoa in the bloodstream and liver... so it may be that his immunity works fine for viruses and bacteria, but not for protozoa.

He is talking about that he is undistructible refering also to his car accident on the bridge of the first episode, so if you have had malaria couple of months ago, you sure wouldnt asume such things like that.

Let me fix what you said about the episode Phoneix. When Clark was throwing that pipe, he was trying to distract him so he could hide for a surprise attack. And when Johnathan ducked from the pipe, you have to realize that he just got the powers so he might have forgot. Old habits don't die away, like dodgeing down from something that is headed towards you. The only thing that should have been critized was the fact Johnathan pushed himself and Clark out the window. Wouldn't somebody have seen them fall from a tall building like that. That is the only think that could have been critized but. But the pipe thing in just quick reflexs and a distraction by Clark

Dude, if you fight with someone from who you know is possesing superpowers you DO expect everything, and he used superspeed before. That was no distraction, couldnt be, and having such explanation would be way to big expectation from the writters..

How do you know what's going through his head?
just because he got Malaria doesn't mean he's not indestructible in other ways....
Spider-Man could survive a car accident like that, for example, yet he gets sick just like everyone else.

it was a good episode, though. well. mostly. i like how clark looked straight in the direction of the guy who was trying to kill lana even though they are seperated by theforest and all. it was only after he looked towards the guy that he turned on his x-ray vision.

Also, take into consideration that Clark is a freakin' space alien with superpowers.....
He doesn't know what would happen if he tried to bang Lana... he might kill her, he might get her pregnant even with precautions... so even if their relationship was healthy and he wanted to, he probably wouldn't

There's quite the discussion of the Superman/Lois sex problem in the film Mallrats. I'm opposed to the idea of Clark and Lana bumping uglies, it doesn't fit with my idea of who/what Clark is.
On the other hand I don't think we have a Sam & Diane problem. (Cheers, the show was most popular while everyone was waiting for the two of them to get together. Once they got together, the show's popularity dropped off.) While we're all waiting for the two to finally get over things, there are enough other irons in the fire (Clark's other powers, the occasional meteor freak, Lois) to keep us coming back watching for the inevitable breakup.
BlakeAE77
11-02-2003, 01:35 PM
I'm opposed to the idea as well. It just wouldn't be right for Clark and Lana to "get it on". Clark probably tries not to think too much about it or he could do alot more damage than just causing a fire in a class room. He doesn't know what would happen...Lana would probably end up as road kill. Clark and Lois did eventually find a baby in "Lois and Clark", so maybe he's not able to do it. But in one of the Superman movies Clark had to give up his powers in order to "bang" Lois. So, there's way too many questions as to what would happen.
Baadshah
11-02-2003, 05:26 PM
that was a stupid part in the movie. I don't think Clark should have sex in the show because that's not who he. What he does in Smallville reflects what he does in Metropolis in the future. He should stay a virgin until his true love; Lois Lane

BlakeAE77
11-06-2003, 11:03 PM
I didn't think "Relic" was too sexual. I admit it was mature for Smallville but I don't think it took away from the show at all. I thought it was a good episode, but I was a little disappointed because I had heard an ad for the show on a radio station and some of the stuff that was said in the ad never happened on the show. I liked how Lana's great aunt's name was Louise...kinda close to Lois don't ya think? I also liked how Joe was short for Jor-El. I didn't get to see next week's preview, anyone have a link? I know what it's going to be about, I just want to see the preview.

I was not at all impressed with tonight's episode. Tonight's story was the same story we saw all of the first season and all of the second season....again there was an X-men mutant knock-off (Magneto) and Lana gets manipulated into doing something she regrets. I wish they would stop with the small stories and focus in on a much broader story. And I would love see more of Clark using his powers. And I know that Clark will soon be the man of steel, but right now he has balls of cotton. What happened to the new Clark that we saw right after his time in Metropolis? Even after he took off the ring he still had an edge about him. He is such a wuss when it comes to Lana. The whole Clark/Lana situation is really starting to piss me off. The only part I thought was interesting was the side story with Chloe and Lex. Next week's episode looks better. Hopefully it will be better.

I think Smallville is quickly approaching a point where fans are going to begin to loose interest (if it hasn’t happened already). Despite all the complaining, the writers continue to persist at having freaks of week be the main focus of the story. I understand if they need to throw the freaks in occasionally to provide a challenge for Clark but do we really need new ones that become more and more far fetched each week? Why can't the show focus more on average teen problems then always something that is highly unlikely to happen to anybody. I think that’s what people enjoyed so much about the first few shows. You saw Clark (Superman) had normal problems growing up just like everyone else with the exception that he had extraordinary powers to help him deal with it (or made things worse) Now he's just solving everyone else’s problems one right after the other except for his own. Yes Clark is different from your average teenager physically but not mentally. There are so many issues they could have Clark facing besides having some super powered freak showing up all the time. The other thing that is irritating me is the fact that the only normal plot they have going is the Clark and Lana relationship, but since this is the only real average problem they have Clark facing and the fact that they have now stretched us on for 3 seasons I beginning to tire of it. Either he needs to start dating her or move on.

11-14-2003, 03:36 PM
well you need freaks of the week, that is what makes it a superhero show. Maybe if they work on the level of dangerousness on the bad guys, since the majority of them is on stupid teens. They should have real bad guys that could last up to four shows
logan350
11-14-2003, 03:39 PM
Well I agree with you partially in that the freaks need to stop being all teens. But the thing that made this show so differant is that it wasn't suppose to be a full fledged superhero show. It was supose to be a drama with a superhero in it. If it was a superhero show they should of named it Superboy instead and have him wearing his costume. They need to head more in the direction like they were in the begining with Clark having problems with the school bully and wanting to play on the football team.

I hated Whitney. I'm very happy he's gone.
I too am begining to tire of the Clark and Lana story. I mean how many times can the episode end with the both of them in the barn tearfully discussing their relationship. I think the show needs to evolve- and mabye even change its name to Metropolis (I don't think that's ever been done). It could deal with him going on to college (since he's losing the ability to play a believable high school student), and they could show the process of him actually becoming a super hero. Perhaps they could even introduce a young Lois to combat his feelings for Lana.

well they need to either have clark/lana finally get together, or they need to have relationships with other people for a while, and when i say a relationship, i don't mean one that lasts one episode. if they did that, it would give them something to do then just pine after each other for a while. even though, eventually they will get together before he goes off to metropolis and becomes a reporter.

How about Clark goes sking in Vail over winter break and there is an avalanche. Oh poor Clark! Let see if the boy of steel and dig out of 200 tons of ice and snow before his buddies run out of air. Whitney represents everything I hated about the jocks that I went to highschool. Rude , full of themselves, the overpowering need to pick on non sports-jocks...he was worse, serous bi-polor tendancies. As far as I am concerned the best part of Whitney ended with him jumping on a granade.

Hey Hey,
Long time reader, first time poster.
To give things a kick in the butt, they should start to develop the adversarial relationships that could make this show keep people into it.
It looks as if they are beginning to turn Lex into the Lex Luthor that we all know and hate/love from the comics and movies. I think we are going to see that somehow Clark will betray Lex - at least Lex will see it this way - and it lead Lex to really go after Clark.
Another thing that could really throw a wrench in to the machine is to have Clark get back together with Chloe. It's obvious that Chloe still wants to jump him. Lana could get a new beau and Clark could hook up with Chloe, thus causing tension between the two main ladies on the show. Gotta love two chicks fighting - especially two in the same house.
If this is long term, build up the adversarial relationships for a while and layoff the freak stories. If a freak story, build it up over half a season in background stories and have it lead up to a major conflict with Clark for a season ending cliff hanger.
Thanks. You've been a great audience, have a safe trip home.

i agree they need a continuing storyline on this show, not just having a different freak every week. they need to either have lana and clark start to date each other, or date other people for a while and do a storyline around that. also do a storyline involving lionel is doing bad, and have that involve a freak someone over several episodes. i do think though that guy they thought was dead, will end up being alive since they never found his body.

On last night's episode, Clark could have shown a little more emotion towards Lana when she woke up in the hospital. She almost died, and it seemed like he was more concerned for Lex. I guess it's time for me to realize that Clark and Lana are really not meant to be together, as much as I hate to say it. The producers of the show have been toying with us for too long about Clark and Lana, making it seem like the two were going to hit it off. But we all know that Clark and Lana will never end up together. There will never be a Clana. There will only be Clois.

Ok so Clark put Lana in a dangerous situation and now she's pissed but does anyone else recall Lana holding a gun to Clark's head last week. And technically she doesn't know that Clark is bulletproof so as far as she knows she put his life in jeapordy last week. Plus look at all the times that Clark has saved her doesn't that count for anything? I'll let the writers slide on this temporary new boyfriend for Lana coming in but after this if they start to hint and Clark and Lana being together this time they better stick with it isntead of throwing in another twist. The only twist in there relationship I'd tolerate is her finding out about Clark and getting upset with him about her parents.

Wednesday night's episode, "Shattered," is one of the best of Smallville I have seen, and one of my personal favorites. We all knew Morgan Edge wasn't dead, but to have him come back like this, and still have an undetermined fate at the end... I read a review earlier in which the writer was praised for using Lex as the "unreliable narrator," and that really was what made this show great... We learn that maybe Lionel was behind the death of his baby brother and has been in a way making Lex feel guilty for it all these years, turning point for Clark and Lana, and we don't know what the future holds for Lex... I thouht he had demons before, but WOW! So much worked for this, like who to trust? What to believe? Did that really happen? And now, what's next? I didn't get the very end, whether or not the doctor had been completely going along with the plan, or from Lionel's response, if there even was a plot like Edge said! Wow!
Now Smallville's on a 5 week hiatus, but after such a great episode, you need time to just sit back and say, WOW!

You don't know what happened to Lex's sanity because he doesn't know. He was on drugs, and even as they were slightly worn off (can't really tell when they were...) he had NO ONE he could trust, so he began believing himself maybe he wasn't completely healthy... Now, he may not have any memory of the events... Which is all for the better, I suppose, but that line, "I knew you weren't human, Clark" was great! I think the next episode is titled, "Sanitarium," so maybe we'll get to see some of Lex's "recovery"...

From thewb.com...
Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) locates Morgan Edge (Patrick Bergin, Sleeping With the Enemy) and gets him to admit to dirty dealings with Lionel (John Glover), but before Lex can take it to the authorities, someone tries to kill him at the mansion. Barely surviving, Lex flees and asks Clark (Tom Welling) for help. However, when Clark returns to the mansion to investigate he finds nothing amiss, and begins to wonder if it really happened, especially after Lionel announces Lex has had a psychotic break and must be institutionalized.

i hate it how there are only like 22-26 new episodes of most tv series, because then you end up like a whole month without any new episodes, like what is going on with smallville.

Smallville returns next week I think, I am glad for the reruns for only one reason...I missed part one of the season premier, you know with Mr Kent getting his powers and the whole Island dementia with Lex

Now that was a good episode! When Johnathan took clark down, that was something else....plus Clark being a real bad boy! about time too, he needs to start kicking some more a$$

It won't retrurn next week nor the week after because they fall on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Those are two big days that not alot of people watch TV. Networks rarely and I mean rarely show new episodes during Holiday Weeks. So you will have to wait 3 weeks atleast for a new episode.

I'd much rather have a month or two hiatus and then return with a barrage of new episodes then to have new ones scattered here and there throuhgout the year...

Well it has been almost two months since we had a new episode since we had a new episode, but I do understand about you being far behind, my friend was staying in Europe last year for a few months and when she got back told me about watching "new" episodes of certain shows there.

It was a good episode to start the new series off, I even watched it twice last night on E4 then E4+1, but it's also repeated twice on Sunday night so I might get a little refresh before episode 2 airs.

I expected the fight between Johnathon and Clark to last a bit longer but like Spidey has said it's good to see Clarks evil side coming through because it adds just that little something that was missing from the series.

Good Episode, i don't think Lex forgot everything, it was too quick for him to get well. The new guy in Lana's life is so not a match for her, they should have chosen some other dude because he looks stupid. can't for next week's episode !

I can see 2 distinct reasons why Lex turns on Clark depending on how things really happened in this ep:
If the mindwipe WAS successful, than maybe Lex will turn on Clark when he and Chloe take on Lionel for the murder of Lionel's parents. (Lex is brainwahsed into thinking dear ol' Dad is innocent?
OR
If Lex is faking, he feels resentful that Clark hides his powers from him?

By far, one of the best episodes of Smallville to date.
Thought it was great when Clark was walking through the looney bin to see Lex - seeing faces from his past.
Now for some fun......Who found the Easter Egg in the episode and what was it?
Hint....another DC comic character was mentioned in the show. It was only in the show for approximately 3 to 5 seconds.
Tell me where and how.
Enjoy.

The internet is a buzz with rumors that the guy Lana meets is actually Bruce Wayne using an alias to protect his identity. There are a bunch of refrences that refer to this in the show. Also watch for a Wonder Woman reference in one of Lex's scenes.

well, let see here
I forgot the Home Improvement kid who can make a double of him self, but i will call him HW.
Chloe and Clark find out that Lex is about to go into shock therapy instructed by that black woman doctor, who is actually working for Lionel.
THe purpose for this procedure is to erase Lex's memory so he would forget about Lionel's past of killing his parents. Chloe and Clark confronts the Doctor and warn her that getting out of Lionel's business is dangerous as well, so she opts out of it, but she is killed in a car accident, planned by Lionel.
Pete tells him that it is hard for him to keep the secret of Clark's and that he can be trusted and not Lex. This takes place at the school in Chloe's office. Chloe pops in the room and Pete leaves, she tells Clark that the doctor died in the car accident and that there is no way of stopping the procedure.
During this time, we see alittle bit of fliration between Adam and Lana and she is getting better at walking.
Clark uses his powers to enter into where Lex is held and he rips the metal bars that is keeping Lex in place. But then, HW comes in and uses the kryptonite to punch Clark down, while his double HW#2 comes in and uses a metal bar to pound on Lex. HW and HW#2 takes Clark and Lex is dragging himself on the floor telling them to stop, but he can't go further. They take Clark to some room with the Krptonite on his chest to keep him down.
They find Lex, injects him with a needle to get him to sleep, and takes him to the shock therapy room where Lionel is, hoping that the procedure will wipe out Lex's current memories or be a vegetable, he is willing to take the risk, what a great Father.
They start the procedure, and Lex starts maddly shaking because of the shock procedure. Meanwhile, the guy who could absorb Clark's powers uses his technique to get Clark's powers by holding Clark's hand and the krptonite and fliping the switch done by HW (HW and HW#2 went back to being one person). He gets Clark's powers, but the electricity used to do this shuts down the shock therapy that Lex was enduring.
The guys starts pounding Clark for awhile, than HW comes and says," let's go", but the guy with Clarks powers betrays him and throws HW away. Clarks gets the kryptonite and provokes the guy to come closer, he comes, not releasing the kryptonite, he gets weakened. Clark, holding the kryptonite, pushed himself and the guy in the some electrical wires and flips the switch, but than the shock therapy starts up again, and off again, Lex starts moaning, showing that he is conscious, so Lionel says to the doctor to flip the switch again, and than the procedure starts again.
Clark gets his powers back and commands the guy to tell him where Lex is. The shock therapy ends. Lex isn't moving, we see his eyes blinking rapidly. Clarks comes, looks threw the glass window, but it was too late.
Lana meets Adam at his hospital bed, and starts talking about being friends because Adam doesn't want to be between any complications (Clark and Lana), Lana said there isn't nothing to worry about because there isn't anything to worry about, keep in mind Adam doesn't know about Clark. Lana says she is not ready to start a new relationship right now, so they shake hands on being friends.
Clarks goes to Lex's mansion and meets Lex, that is right, Lex is fine. They start to talking and Clark finds out Lex's memory about Clarks powers and Lionel past crime is gone, hopefully, who knows. Clark goes home, the parents start to comfort him because Clark can't escape the fact that Lionel was responsible for the doctor and Lex's grandparents. He gets comforted, and the mother tells him that there is a Welcome home party for Lana at the Talon. Clark was keeping his promise of not seeing her for awhile from the last episode.
Now, this is the suprise, we are at Lionel's office and he is viewing a security camera footage from the hospital, where Lex says to Clark, "I know ur secret, i won't tell anyone". Lionels gets mad because it's too late, Lex lost the memories. Lionels repeats the footage over and over again.
Clark goes to the party and find Lana from a distance, she is talking to Pete and Chloe. She steps away from the conversation, Clark looks down and see that she is walking with a walking cane, she looks up and sees Clark from a distance. They both see each other, and a girl comes up to Lana, and they both walk away, letting us know that she is ignoring Clark. Clark sees that and he starting walking away, Lana sees him walking away and looks back towards the camera.
The end
So know, we know that Lex lost the neccessary memories. Lana and Clark is not back together. And there is a new guy, Adam, in Lana life.
wwwwwhhhhheeeeeewwwwwwww, that was lot of typing.
