Can someone please simplify this so I will understand it and I will be able to write it so others will too? I wanna know which one is better in several different ways like graphics, power, efficiency etc etc. Because I gotta do this marketing power point thing at school on the 360 and a part of the differences between ps3 and 360. I need someone who isn't a total xbox freak or a total playstation freak that won't take anyone's sides. Just someone who likes or hates both equally.

Also, could they maybe put it into a context which would also lean towards xbox more? But not stretched out of preportion or anything...

No just someone to help me understand what it means. And no it isn't supposed to be done at home but I think if I can finish it and then smuggle a CD into the school and on the computer, I will get extra marks... Maybe.

And it will be easier to do at home anyway. Nothing works right at school.

So, you want to know the technical differences between the 360 and PS3, but you want the 360 to appear more favorable for a marketing presentation? Well then I think that you would need a biased xbox-supported opinion, because it technical terms (strictly according to that article--I haven't researched it in-depth myself) PS3 trumps the 360 in almost every aspect listed. Find some Microsoft propaganda and you should get more of what you are looking for, don't go for the objective editorials.

The article says that when comparing the two you can make a case for either depending on which numbers you emphasize. The PS3's GPU has more raw power, but the 360's functions differently from any GPU in existence and therefore cannot be compared on raw power terms since it could do better even with less. Also, the PS3 and 360 have the same amount of RAM, but the 360 allows it to be used by the CPU and GPU together, so they split it as needed, the PS3 on the other hand splits it in half for them, this could be good in some cases but not others.

All in all it is saying that the PS3 is more powerful in a raw power sense, but when emphasizing the importance of other numbers, and taking into account how everything functions then it could be that the 360 is on par or more powerful.

They're going to be virtually the same for game releases I imagine. The only difference is maybe in two or three years, the PS3 might get some slightly better looking graphiced games, both exclusive and 3rd party titles. Much the same like the Xbox in comparison to the PS2 did down the line.

As far as people only choosing to get one of the systems, it's kind of a toss up to me, and either one you choose, you're going to be happy with your purchase.

One advantage I see though when I get the PS3, is that I'll already have a blu-ray player if I choose to buy movie titles on the format, which I've mentioned before.

its all just a foreign language to me...only thing i understood was RAM...i dont even know what that stands for...but from all the things ive been hearing the PS3 is more powerful and that wierd guy claims that it can reach 120fps!! woah!!(sarcasm)

Someone told me, on MSN, that the graphics for the xbox 360 was better than those of PS3 but PS3 was faster. Is this true?

No, right now noone knows for sure, but the PS3 definately has more raw power. The 360 though could do graphics better by being a more efficient system etc. but at this point there is no way to tell.

The PS3 is as of now only numbers so its kinda hard to say which one is best. Using the logic of time, the PS3 is better (they have more time - better), however this logic is pretty thin to say at least.

Using the logic of sheer numbers the PS3 is better in some areas and worse in others. Now the question to which area will matter most; hard to say before you actually have the two machines complete and can compare it.

As of now its mostly "my father is stronger then yours" syndrome.

But of cource, i'm guessing like most that the PS3 will be on the winner side when it comes to capabilities. But just comparing numbers is not sufficent.

It says that it has 1 TFLOP of power. Not quite sure what that is though haha...

If I remember correctly from my high school computer programming days, "floating point performance" has something to do with how many calculations that the processor can do.

flops: floating operations per second, a measure of graphic processor speed i'm pretty sure. Isn't PS3 in teh trillions?
