Ninja Gaiden is the only game I've played where you have to be in a zen state to beat it.

If you play long enough and keep trying something, it'll get to a point where you're just relaxed and you start playing extraordinarly graceful. :eek:

Old school games. The ones where it would just get harder and harder and harder and seem like they'd never end, and it just took more and more better hand-eye coordination to do.

Mario Brothers NES was up there, but beatable. Games like the original Gauntlet were great for difficulty, or Pacman. And as mentioned, Tetris. It's kind of ironic that most of the first console games are some of the hardest and longest games ever made. But most games ended up having a shorter life span, as well as a more coherant story (making it more difficult to make them longer as well), to result in appealing to a wider market.

One game that frustrated me because I'd be like right at the end of the game, but for some reason couldn't get around to beating (then again this was 10 or so years ago), was SNES Lemmings. Fantastic, and imo one of the best puzzle games ever made. Brilliant strategy thinking and difficulty at times.

I was able to beat Ninja Gaidenwithout too mutch trouble. The thing about that game is that it doesen't really get too mutch harder as it goes on. The last boss is actually the easiest boss in the game.
The original Ninja Gaiden on the other hand...

But the hardest game of all time would have to be Contra.

Ninja Gaiden, definitely. I like the game quite a bit, but if I die a lot typically I'll quit and won't play it for a week. Maybe that's why I'm only on Chapter 3.

The only way to beat him is to dodge his punches for a certain amount of time in round one. If you hit him within that time you will not beat him, the game goes into
decisions and you lose.

F.I never was able to beat the champion which led to the Tyson bout. I eventually got the code to access Tyson and what I got out of my videogame rental was a royal beating every which way.

Dude I'm not bull****ing you. The one thing you must remeber is that in order to beat you can't eliminate more than 1 row. There has to be at least 3 rows available. Also tell him to go first and watch his every move. It really helps

I have beaten it, didnt get a screenshot because there wasnt anything like "you have won" or anything like that, happened really quickly then went to the games main website, but if others have completed it they will know what they guy does when he loses.

Its really underwhelming, I didnt want to say because that way I would know who had completed it for real and who hadn't, all he does is pull this funny face where his eyes get really big, he turns his back on you and walks into the dark, and thats it, and like I said it loads up a main page for the game I think it was.

The first Blinx game. I still havn't finished it and I only got to the 3rd level (with all the sea creatures) and I gave up. It is way too hard.

Mission 'White Noise' in Ace Combat 5 on Expert is killing me. The first 2 levels(Normal and Hard) were difficult, but expert is f-ing impossible. I've only been close to finishing once.

I guess that's the point. If we're talking hardest games to beat in that sense, I could probably name hundreds that have high difficulty levels that are optional. I don't consider those normal though. I'd say the difficulty on a game worth listing, would be a game on normal difficulty. It doesn't say much that you can't beat a game on an optional super hard difficulty.

Not to brag or anything but I used to be able to beat Contra with 2 lives. Punch Out was pretty hard, but doable. The hardest game that comes to mind right now would be Fester's Quest for NES.

Are we playing the same demo? On normal difficulty I thought it was a sinch. It was pretty creepy the first time around, which is expected I suppose (the sequence with the door charge kinda got me a second time too). I'm mainly wanting to buy the game for the action though. Sweet, slow-mo action. =P

The FPS martial arts needs work though. Not nearly as cool as it was being made out to be in all the previews and videos.

Half-Life 2 doesn't even begin to compare to the scares and creepyness that were in Doom 3. As far as scary games go, HF2 was actually really mild, with some things minor with the zombies.

I havn't played the whole FEAR game yet, so I can't say anything for sure, but I think it's just going to have "creepy scares", rather than "scare scares", which I can get over quickly once you start expecting them.
