I like to read but have a hard time finding things that really grab me and pull me in, I'm trying to find a series that can do this. I tried the Sword of Truth series and didn't feel the second book much so I stopped, I want to get away from Fantasy books that are Lord of the Rings like.

The reason I bring this topic here is, I just watched Big Trouble in Little CHina for the millionth time today and thought it would've been great if it were a book series or based off one.

So out of curiosity, does anyone know a series that would be similar in the style of comeyd in this movie, but have a serious/action like side to it as well? The slapstick humor is gerat, but to mix it in with a dark story would be even more of a grab for me.

Another good way to put it is, I like Anime but I don't care for comics or Manga, so it'd be cool to read a book that has an Anime kinda feel but isn't a Manga.....An anime like feel as in a really off the wall concept and story with great characters.

Any recommendations?

Oh, I know something I'd dig.

A hardcore Espionage book. Something along the lines of the first Rambo and the Metal Gear Solid/Splinter Cell series. I guess somthing James Bondish, but a little more real or dark.

I considered Tom Clancy, but I think it'd be too much on the political side for me.

Know of any series like that?
