View Full Version : Vinnie Jones as a villain in X3??

So it turns out that Vinnie Jones is going to be in X3 as a villain...who do you guys think he could be? supposedly hes going to be Juggernaut, but it hasn't been confirmed. If they decide to form a solid brotherhood lead by magneto (mystique, toad, sabretooth, avalanche, pyro, magneto) and then have the dark phoenix as a sub-plot, I could see him playing Avalanche. If they don't go that route I could see him as Juggernaut, which would be sweet because then we would finally get an all out x-men on Juggernaut battle which would make me wet myself. I shudder to think how they will destroy Juggernauts origin story though. If they don't go with either of those routes, then I don't know which villain he could be...any ideas?

I'd love to see Juggernaught. A mate of mine suggested a Dark Phoenix/Apocalypse showdown.

Dark Phoenix/Apocalypse showdown would be sweet, but I don't think its possible to have Apocalypse in the movie. How would they even begin to explain him, and make him look?? I'd be happy with a solid brotherhood vs the x-men, with dark phoenix in the mix too

That rumour is bull****. Or at least it better be, the guy has no talent.

supposedly its been confirmed. The only person I could see him playing is Avalanche....he wouldn't suit anyone else. Its kinda hard to imagine the soccer hooligan from euro trip as anyone in X3

oh dear, well at least avalanche isnt a major characer. If the main villan in X3 was Vinnie Jones id take back all the good stuff i said about Matthew Vaughn

I know it's been confirmed that he's in X-Men 3, but has it been confirmed that he's a villain?

Yeah, apparently hes going to be a villain. The Juggernaut rumour might be B.S. and it might not be B.S. but if it is just crap, then he'll end up being some other villain. Appearence wise, I would say he is best for Avalanche...which might be cool because Magneto's brotherhood is starting to form again. With Pyro defecting in X2, add mystique, bring back toad and sabretooth, add in avalanche and you have the full brotherhood meal deal.

I'll never understand all this "love" for Layer Cake. To me that film looks painfully similar to "The Transporter". I'm still holding out a decent hope that this will be a good film.

Really hope the Juggernaut isn't in the movie, sure he is cool in the books but don't think they can make him look good on screen

I think if he's Juggernaut they might make him part of the Brotherhood. I saw some sketches of what Juggernaut might look like on film in Wizard a while back, they looked pretty damn solid!

i personally think the dude kicks ass

doesnt mean hes juggernaut he could be doin the before juggs and voice
of juggs thing much like bana was in the hulk
or even have prosthetics like hellboy
because at first juggs wasnt huge, he was big but not huge like he is today
back in the day he was lot smaller than what he is today

Yeah Vinnie Jones has done pretty well for himself ever since his Soccer days. I enjoyed Mean Machine. Him and Jason Statham kick arse.

I really like the Juggernaut in the comics, and I think he would be an awesome villain to have in X3, but only if it is pulled off right. It's going to come down to how he looks. If they make him look like his comic book counterpart it'll be alright, but if they start changing him up, then it'll be a disaster. I'm afraid to think how they are going to slaughter his origin story though. On the upside, if Juggs is in the movie, we could have some all out x-men on Juggs fighting action.....something the movies have been lacking so far.

But i think his origin would have to be changed so hes a mutant rather than the whole Ruby of Cyronak thing. Thats a bit stupid.

04-14-2005, 01:49 PM
its cytorrak but who cares, they could still easily do that
evereyones seen the lotr trilogy so they understand magic and what not,
all they have to do is start the movie with him searchin for it
find in within 1st 30-40 min then you have juggs

If you thought those two films were similar in any respect, you maybe need some new glasses. I mean ones a B-list action film with bad acting and average cinematography, the others a classy gangster film with a sleek visual style.
I always saw Juggernaut as 9 feet tall though, not some 6'4 crapmiester who only gets 2 lines in films and usually ****s them up.

I honestly don't think Vinnie is the BEST choice to play Juggernaut....but if he ends up playing the role i'm just going to deal with it. He'll need to drop the accent though....if he can. Actually thats not even true. If they made Colossus some big Joe American guy with no Russian accent then I'm sure Juggernaut could have a british accent. I wouldn't like it, but it wouldn't be the worst atrocity they've commited against the comics

Hmmm....British actors to play brothers? Yeah, that couldn't possibly work.

And Cain could have latent mutant abilities that come out later without Xavier knowing about it, rather than the crystal, which would make good drama.

Although, I do think Vinnie Jones has a lot to prove to fill this role.

Just my opinion.

No, they're actually STEP-brothers, genius. If you're gonna try and correct someone for the sake of correcting someone, you'd better get your facts straight.

More importantly, the other movies have not played even close to the comics, so why should they start now, geez.

Vinnie Jones, who previously worked together with X-Men 3 director Matthew Vaughn on Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has confirmed to the Leeds United website that he has joined the cast of the third installment.

"My football connections are well over now, I'm cracking on with filming and have just landed a few roles," he said. "I have X-Men 3 to film and that will take six months or so, so I think I might be a bit busy."

Jones was rumored to be in talks for the role of villain Juggernaut in X-Men 3. Vaughn previously told us that "what's interesting about Juggernaut is that he's the brother of Professor X, and that's why I thought it would be interesting having an English thug opposite Patrick Stewart."

For further confirmation, Vinnie Jones' official website says that he "is going to film X Men 3 in America in August, and 4 & 5 if they make them. He plays the character Juggernaut."

Jones has also starred in such films as Gone in Sixty Seconds and Eurotrip.

I am fine with Vinnie as Juggs. You guys keep grumbling about his acting skill, but skill have not stoped them from casting Hallie Berry as storm. I for one would prefer Vinnie Jones as a english thug turned mystic jem enhanced super villian over using a wrestler just for his size. Would you rather Goldberg be cast in the role. I think not.

Yeah...it really depends on how he does puts his mark on it. I know were used to Singer, but how can we compare when only one director has had a chance to make the movie? What if Vaughn gives us the X-men movie of every fan boys dream? that could happen, or he could also give us a steaming pile of crap.....I hope for the first.

The same could be said about Singer taking over the helm of the Superman series from Richard Donner but considering how bad 3 and 4 were I think you could have a monkey in the director's chair and a new version would come out ok.

I wonder if they will follow the phoenix saga where Lilandra has the crystal and is trying to keep it from her brother. In that juggernaut trys to take on gladiator and is thrown to another island for his trouble. It kind of makes sense to go with that story. I wonder who would play gladiator though.

Im sorry but if they put vinnie jones as himself I would excuse myself from watching it. Vinnie is 40 years old. He is not even close to being buff enough to play Juggernaut without the help of prosthetics.

The 8 and 9 foot effect can easily be fixed using forced perspective. You don't actually think that Frodo was really that short right. It is all a matter of placement and perspective.

that sucks, cause CGI makes the movie look so much better, i mean look at yoda in the old star wars fils and in TPM and then look at him in AOTC and in ROTS. he looks so much better. Plus, CGI will make the moive look and feel way better!
