^^^Very cool! I was stationed on the Los Angeles class attack submarine the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705) from 1992-1997, and we came to visit our namesake city back in either 94 or 95 (if I can remember right). We were treated awesome by the town and its residents during the week we were there. I did not have to pay for one drink or iota of food while I was there. We gave out tours of the boat and had lines going all the way down the pier.
It was a great stay and they practically gave us keys to the city. Your town is beautiful. I had a blast!

Lots of cool games were running from the Miniatures room:
Roaring 20's game complete with rival gansters and coppers on the take and Untouchables - this guy had some incredible antique cars in the scene and for every human figure, he had a dead human figure that matched for when the tommy guns broke out in blazes :D (The Cops got hit first btw)

Too bad the "Addam's Family house" didn't show up - that's a scary looking house on the way up to the con.
And I also didn't get the Western Minature town complete with Gallows in town square - that was a good one.

America watches Nascar. therefore any opinions your country has on graet sporting events are thus considered void.
It's a great counterpoint to make without a doubt, but a very generalized albeit stereotypical one. Although NASCAR is an American endeavor, race car driving is not and generally accepted by the international community as a whole. Besides, it is not the sport of NASCAR itself that generally garners a bad image, but some of the fans that obsess over it (usually/stereotypically confined to the rural communities, or "rednecks").
Personally, I feel that calling out one's ethnic or national background, as well as a very broad stereotype, as a basis to your argument of what constitutes a great sporting event nullifies and voids your opinion as well.

How can American Football be called football when most of the time its in your hands i have never quite understood that
- Wiki
The history of American football can be traced to early versions of rugby football. Both games have their origin in varieties of football played in the United Kingdom in the mid-19th century, in which a ball is kicked at a goal and/or run over a line.

I, myself, am not a NASCAR fan, and yes, I would probably watch cricket or even tennis for that matter, rather then watch it. I actually did not have much enthusiasm for soccer (football) until my daughter started playing it, and then I found myself watching it whenever I could on tv.

I prefer basketball and baseball myself.
As for names, I always say "American football" when talking sports. Doesn't matter who it's with.
We called football "soccer", simply because by the time we adapted it to our culture, we had already created the American football similar to rugby, and they (the Americans at the time) weren't going to change the names of the leagues to accommodate. So they picked the slang term "soccer" as the official title instead.
Ironically, a lot of people don't know this, but "soccer" is widely thought to be a slang nick name derived in England back in the 1800's. The term "Football" has been used for American football, rugby and soccer. The names used in countries usually simply depend on what sports are more popular. In some countries, rugby is simply called "football". In America, "football" is used from our form of rugby as well. In countries where soccer is the most obvious popular sport, they simply call that "football".
People seemed to stop using the coined term "soccer" in European countries after it become prominently used in the US and Canada.

and after the show, the lead singer was randomly walking down the street and played a little acoustic diddy for like eight of us outside the venue. SO MUCH PASSION!:

You should live with it. He's a great kid, but the amount of sarcasm and dry wit tends to raise the level on my "urge to kill" meter. I have a feeling, judging by his friends, that it is just their generation. I am so hoping he grows out of it, or at least lowers the defensiveness a little.

Great concert pics Angel! You would have definitely been in the group of people I hung around in high school way back when (let's just say many, many moons ago). I remember always going to this punk/alternative club, The Visage, in Orlando, every weekend. It was there that I got to see the Ramones, They Might Be Giants, The Mighty Lemon Drops, Nitzer Ebb, the Dead Kennedys, the Dead Milkmen, and Erasure, plus a 100 other local townie type bands. I unfortunately was grounded when the B-52s and The Smiths were in town.
Oh well, it looks like you had a blast. I miss those days.

My nephew and I (we split the army cost) are thinking of our next purchaces - I think Artillery is very important and devistating in this game, so I think we're going to get another K-Warrior Unit - even though they cost 450 to field, they have 8 artillery shots over a large area. Most important to ground the opposing troops, and clear overwatch, so our units can cover no man's land.

A few months ago, a friend and I made a joke during one our newspaper board meetings about how nothing exciting goes on at the school. So, we decided to make news by creating the "Coffee Race." It's more of a political satire than an actual article, but it turned out fairly well. The first to fifty cups wins (wins what? we never really figured that out), and these are a couple of my favorite images from the photo shoot we had (I'm in black):

Oh I'm not angry, believe me. I'm merely arguing. But what's annoying is you're arguing without having the whole picture. For instance, saying I "have too much time on my hands," couldn't be further from the truth. I'm taking 18 credits this semester, and I have about 3 hours of homework every night, not to mention the 20 hours+ per week I put into studying for my chem class.
And saying you don't make snide comments is a complete joke. I understand you're 15 or whatever, and I'm sure I acted in a similar way at that age, but you parade around here with this high and mighty attitude, and frankly it's annoying.
And there's a difference between having a well-informed opinion (like you need for journalism) and just jumping to conclusions in an opinionated way.

First off, I wanna say I never destroyed your working status. And I never said I needed your time layout, you frankily by posting this obviously missed the point.
Parade around the thread with a mighty attitude?Far from it. I have the hardest time fitting in with you people for these reasons. Probably because none of you guys actually know me or live with me to know the way I act. I know it can be annoying or whatever and frankily if you don't like it you can always create a play or novel about it.
I get it, I might have said it wrong, but you got to get it through your obviously thick stubborn head. Annoying or not, It was a damn joke. If you can't take damn jokes than you shouldn't be on this board. This board is based of having fun and playing around with each other. If you didn't like the comment, being a more advanced individual(in age) you should of PMed me. This shouldn't of taken place through the board itself. So, I might be annoying but atleast I know the point in break.
So, to save time and posts. I'm gonna stop this argument. It's pointless to fight over something I was clearily joking about and you simply lost it shooting for what I hope to be one day as a punchline for you. So, as the better person I'm gonna just walk away.

I missed your point? You haven't even made a point. You've been dancing around my point this whole time.
You want to know why you think you're having a hard time fitting in? It's because you've missed the absolute one thing you always include in a post made at another's expense: ;). If you make a "sarcastic" post without that, nobody is going to take it as sarcasm (because they don't know you), they're going to take it as you being an *******.
So now you're claiming you're an "advanced" individual? I think someone who is so "advanced" would know when to pick and choose their battles. You know I don't have a very high opinion of you, and I'm sure the reverse is true. We've gone back and forth in several other threads, so why would you even think of making a joke at my expense? Because I can only think of two reasons: either you're not as bright as you claim you are or you were looking for an argument (which you got). You know I'm not going to respond well because we don't get along, so why would you even bother?
So, as the better person I'm gonna just walk away.
Christ, give me a ****ing break. The "better" person would have walked away before making a post like that.

For instance, saying I "have too much time on my hands," couldn't be further from the truth. I'm taking 18 credits this semester, and I have about 3 hours of homework every night, not to mention the 20 hours+ per week I put into studying for my chem class.
What, no full time job? ;) I kid, I kid.

Actually, last semester I had one (well, not quite full-time, more around 25-30 hours a week) with the same load of homework. I was uhh... I was pretty busy last semester. The only saving grace was that since I was a Manager, I just sat in the back office and worked on Chem for the majority of my shifts. ;)

I know, they are my favorite animals actually. But I'm just saying, they smell really bad. Haha.
I have been to India before, you actually don't get to see a lot of elephants there. I was in the desert for a couple of weeks, and we saw a lot of cows, a lot of camels, a lot of goats, and a lot of cow dung everywhere. But still, there was and elephant we manage to meet in New Delhi itself, and it was funny because it just sat in the middle of the road and the traffic had to stop for it. Since there is a great respect for elephants in India, nobody dared to forcefully move it away. So my bus was just sort of stuck there for almost an hour before we started moving again. It was interesting, really.

Well it depends on the region. Those pictures where taken in the Annapurna circuit. Its the most popular trekking circuit in Nepal, after the Everest base camp one. Still I would say it is genuine, not fake, even tho you get to meet lots of westerns.
But there are other regions in Nepal, like Dolpo and the Mustang Kingdom, where acess is difficult and entrance fees are high. Specially Mustang... it costs like 2000 dollars per person to get a permit. It is advertised as being the last forbidden kingdom in the world. From what i've heard, it is the closest to Tibet - prior to the chinese invasions - as you can get.

Hmm, I didn't notice any actually. The thing that the Indian drivers did was to press their horns every ten seconds or so while they were driving just to scare the animals away from the road. They'd press their horns even in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere, which was frustrating on my part because we had a ride from the airport to where I was going in the desert through the night and he never stopped even when it was four in the morning.
There were specific signs in the capital itself that read "No Horning" though, but other than that nobody cared. It was amazing to see how people, cars, bicycles, and animals integrated so well into the entire transport system in India. You don't get to see that anywhere else I suppose.

It's going to be a few days before the "Great Dwight Mimic of 2008" goes down, because I realized I don't actually own a brown jacket like his. I'll have to track one down first, but it shouldn't be too hard.

So I have no life. Here's more pictures of my puppy, Joe.
This first one is actually from around Christmas, but I just found it on my camera, and I think its a better shot of his face than some of the others I've posted in the past.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/frizzotheclown/joe.jpg
Here is one from Friday, which illustrates his true nature. Laziness. Yes, my glass are broken in this picture. This was later that night, after he'd broken them. Taken with my webcam.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/frizzotheclown/BenandJoe.jpg
The most recent photo, taken literally a couple of minutes ago, with my webcam. He's been asleep across my leg for at least the last hour. My leg is asleep.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/frizzotheclown/102410.jpg
Yes, perhaps they're sad and pathetic photos, but I love my puppy. Is that so bad?

what is that that Joe has on? a chest harness or do you make him carry your stuff? :D
Good pics - I miss my cat :(
Frizzo the Clown
06-08-2008, 12:06 PM
Its a harness. Its a new one I got him that'll strap into a seatbelt in my car. He likes to go on car rides and I like to make sure he's safe when he does.
If I could make him carry my stuff, I would. He'd most likely just chew it up before it got to me though. ;)
