Okay now I'm pissed... I've been upstaged... And by a f**king longshot! lol. Dude that setup is downright AWESOME. Dude you've even got the Defiant up there, damn I'm angry.
Thanks for the props, not meaning to upstage, but rather show that you are indeed not alone in the world when it comes to office decor. In fact I built the office in my basement with the idea that my wife and I could share and work in the office, but as you can see, my various obsessions and hobbies took over the space. I was a nice guy though and let her have the nicer workspace (mine is with the dual screens and laptop).
hey, what are all them fancy diplomas you got there?
If you look reeeeal close, one of them says "6th Grade Science Fair - Participant"
;)
That is my "Me" wall, every guy I knew in the Navy had one, they are as follows;
Middle (large) - is my Navy Blue Nose Certification (for crossing the Arctic Circle while stationed on a submarine)
Three on the right - my various Navy Achievement Medals
Two on top and bottom - my various admiral's letters of commendation
Three on the left - my letter of apprenticeship from the Department of Labor, my last honorable discharge, and a citation from the president.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd186/KPeck35/000_0350.jpg
You can also see my stack of college text books that I still need to put away, a couple of toys that need to get hung up, a lot of garbage that needs to be pitched, and the chair is my "comfy chair" that is about 15 years old and it was the chair that I held my kids in when they napped as babies.

No offense taken, so no real need to be sorry. The 40 Year Old Virgin, was a pretty funny movie, and I don't think it portrayed Andy in a negative way at all. In my case, I had a pretty decent childhood full of fun and imagination and didn't want it to end just because I am voting, paying bills and raising two kids.
Yeah well... at least he's already married, lmao.
Yes, I have been for almost 17 loooooong years. Hard, but blissful nonetheless.

The backwards V hand gesture in America is a "hip" version of the peace sign, primarily brought out of the hip-hop and rap culture.
In the UK and a few other places (Australia I believe), it can be considered an offensive gesture, like giving the finger (which is a universal sign).
Hopefully that clears that up for a few people. =P

Yeah, there was this British professor in my school that yelled at a group of students taking pictures once because they were all doing it the 'offensive' way. It turned out to be just a cultural misunderstanding, but he was really quite offended by it back then.
Fanible
02-06-2008, 11:21 PM
Yeah, I've never done it while I'm over there, just in case. Although plenty of people do it jokingly regardless.
That's one odd difference you see in television as well. Every British program I watch, they don't censor or prohibit the finger or V sign. In America, they won't let you do it on tv, and if it's done, it has to be blurred out.

Do you know if we took all of our pictures here, saved and edited them for just the heads, then uploaded it all to JibJab.com, we could make quite the CS! video? lmao. I was over there the other day and saw their little JibJab video creator. Looks cool. You've got lots of different movies to choose from and then you edit in your own pictures and whatnot. Oh crap. My Japanese discussion had a group photo about a week or so ago, and my TA wanted everyone to give a peace sign (because everyone does that in Japan apparently) and I might have given it backwards. I don't remember and I haven't gotten it back yet so I don't know what I did at this point.

Oh I know. But still, it's hard to realize that this bunch of ragtag members were once really close, lmao. I guess though, over time people tend to move on. I was a member on JoBlo from '99 to '02, then Cinecon from '03 to '05 and after that, a couple of other forums. I actually moved with the people I knew and was comfortable talking with. Over time, I've lost contact with over 80% of them. I only know one person here who I've known for the last eight years, and we don't even acknowledge each other anymore.
Handsome Rob
02-08-2008, 07:03 AM
I belong to about 3 or 4 other forums, and none of them compare to the CS board. Most of the other ones people won't acknowledge you until you have built up a thousand or so post count and flame you as a noob anytime you have an opinion (i.e. the Bengals official MB, which is about 50% Steelers fans for some reason, and I have been a member there since 2005). The people might have been closer on this board at one time, but there does seem to be a feeling of community among us still left, at least IMO.
On the picture side. I have posted several pictures but never of myself, it would not be a bad idea if we all did for principle.

I'm pretty sure that was an older picture of Frizzo, even for the time. I recall him saying it was from when he was in Germany, or something.
Yeah, that was a pretty old pic, even for then. That was taken when I was in London, but I was living in Germany at the time. I think that was taken about 1998 or so.

I was almost stationed at Ft. Riley when I was in the Army. It would've been cool because I would've only been about 2 1/2 hours from home (at the time). Two weeks later (a week before I was to ship) I was given orders that cancelled those out and sent me to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma instead. I don't know much about Ft. Riley, but I hated Ft. Sill.

Thing is, they told me that in those two weeks, they discovered that my MOS wasn't needed at Ft. Riley, so they sent to Ft. Sill where I would be needed. Not surprisingly, Ft. Sill didn't need me either. In fact, the Commo section of my unit had no idea that they were even supposed to be getting a new 31-C. So, basically instead of going to a unit at post where they didn't need me, they sent me to another unit at a completely different post that didn't need me either. It made me feel so wanted.

So, as I mentioned previously, I got to see the Stanley Cup a couple of weeks ago, and I'm finally getting around to posting pictures. I wish I had more, but there was a long line, and they were pushing us all through pretty fast.
Here are a few of the Cup by itself, shortly after it arrived:

I was lucky in that this was actually the second time I've gotten to see the Stanley Cup up-close and in person. Here is an older picture (which I posted previously) of the first time I saw it (which, ironically, was on the exact same day that I saw it this time, just three years previous). Sorry, the quality is horrible.

You're clearly going on my :P list now, deary! LOL!
Growing up in Seattle, we had no teams of our own to cheer for, so it all came down to who to pick n choose. I remember my dad watching a Red Wings game back in '95 against the Devils, and seeing the Red Wings get their pegs knocked down a notch. After that, I started to pay attention to them, and at my young age of picking and choosing what sports to care about and not give a damn about, I decided to follow the Red Wings. They're what got me into the NHL. Same as Green Bay got me into the NFL. What ever teams I should follow or cheer for is all just misguided attention. Hence my cheering for the Raiders, lmao.
