My dog died about 4 or 5 years ago. He was 16 years old. When we were gone on vacation one year, someone was approaching our house. Our dog lept after them, scared them away, but went after the individual so hard that when he reached the end of his chain, he jerked his back out and couldn't use his back 2 legs. The vet said he wasn't in any pain, so we babied him and he lived for 2 or 3 more years. Then he got out and was walking down the highway and got hit by a car. I still think he would have lived a couple more years of natural life, he was a tough dog.
