I have seen all of the SW films more than once but a question that after years and years of trying to figure out, is Vader/Anakin stronger than Sidious? I would also like to know just who was the greatest jedi(besides Yoda)?

I have just entered the galaxy and I am lost. I watch these films over and over again, and still I have no answer.

Well, Sidious is stronger. Anakin probably would have been at the rate he was growing at, but, then he got burned and wound up as Vader.

The greatest Jedi? Luke Skywalker according to the Expanded Universe. But, according to the films besides Yoda? I don't have an answer for that one.

From the films I'd guess it was pretty much a toss-up between Obi-Wan and Luke, but based purely on experience and such I'd go with Obi-Wan.

As for Vader vs Sidious, I've always considered Sidious as stronger no doubt, both in mind and body.

Sidious is stronger than Vader IMO cause Vader got lucky in ROTJ and surprised Sidious when he threw him in the shaft.

I would say the best Jedi are Obi-Wan and Luke. Obi-Wan is one of the best because he took out a Sith Lord, Greivous, beat Anakin, and came back as a ghost when he died. Luke is one of the best because he took out the Death Star and defeated the Sith.

Grievous is not a Sith Lord.

I think he meant Darth Maul

I think he meant Darth Maul

Could be. But, I wouldn't really count that, because Maul could have easily killed Obi-Wan. But no, instead he wanted to create some sparks in hopes that it would make Obi-Wan fall off or something.

Maul just pulled the all to cliched "i have you in my grasps but I'm not going to kill you just yet because you need time to think of some way to escape"

Made famous by all twenty Bond films. ;)

Maul did have a very weak and anti-climactic death. I just fill in the blank by saying he had ADD and was thinking of squirrels when Obi-Wan did the little jump and twirl over his head
"Did I leave the stove on before I left home? I think so, but I'm not... oh damn, I got cut in half".

I suppose if Obi-Wan does end up beating Grevious alone, that might be grounds for being one of the best fighters of the Jedi anyway. But I'd think that Yoda probably is (they even quote it in AOTC pretty much). The result, of course, being that if Sidious beats Yoda, then Sidious is the best fighter of them all to use the Force, putting Yoda in a close second and the best of the Jedi.

*shrugs*
I suppose we can't truely know, as we'll probably never see Anakin fight Yoda, and Obi-Wan and Yoda arn't ever going to face off, even for fun. =P

That's what I meant when I said Sith Lord: Darth Maul.

I thought you said "Grievous" as an appositive.

I was just naming stuff in a series that Obi-Wan has defeated.

Sideus is more powerful. Obi-wan and then Anakin. I don't think Luke was more powerful than anakin. He comes in third.

In the Expanded Universe he is the considered the greatest and strongest Jedi of all time. But, like I said, that's just the EU.

Ok ,had anakin not gotten severely hurt in his battle with obiwan he would have possibly surpassed sidious.Instead he ended up relying on mechanical devices to keep him alive. Now as the most powerful jedi, besides yoda,in my opinion was obiwan.that guy did alot,he is the man!!!

Lucas says on the DVD commentary that if Anakin had fulfilled his potential, he could have defeated Sidious himself. But he never does.

Anakin has more raw power than Obi-wan, but Obi is more experienced and cool-headed, which allows him to get the better of Anakin. And if reports are true, then the manner in which Obi beats Grievous is similar to his 'smash-and-grab' victory over Maul. You gotta hand it to him, he's one resourceful Jedi.

Which is exactly why he's my favorite character of the saga.

Right, he has a combination of power, wisdom, and knowhow that is not often found. He knows how to do things.

I thought Mace Windu was supposed to be second to Yoda as the best Jedi Warrior in the universe? I thought I remembered hearing that somewhere on one of the DVDs (TPM | AOTC).

is it possible for a Dark Force apprentice to eventually use their powers for Good..

like, someone who's learning dark force powers, but their master gets killed, and then they're brought back to the Jedi alliance... i'd like to see this explored..

I'm no Star Wars expert, but I'd assume those powers are one reason people are seduced by the dark side of the force. While Jedi want to use the Force to create peace and balance, the "dark force powers" are used to harm and kill. I suppose actually 'killing' someone would be on their last priority when dealing with foes, unless they have no choice which I suppose is where the use of their light saber comes in.

A really bad example of this would be police officers COULD use an Uzi, cause that could take down criminals easily, but they'd probably want to put them in jail if anything. But they do have their handguns and will use them if they must.

lol Yeah that sucked. :meanie:

No, only unknowingly. They get these powers when the become dark. If they stop doing evil and turn do good, then they have left the Dark Side.

if you ask me I think once you were a jedi then turn to the dark side, you will always have good in you, because thats how you started.

if aniken didnt get burned and turned into vader he would probably be stronger than sidous. which leads me to a question, would sidious have turned aniken into vader if he didn't fall into the lava? also sidous got weak as he got older same with vader, thats why sidious wanted luke

Fanible
03-16-2005, 11:42 PM
Anakin already becomes Vader before he falls into the lava.

Nimrandir

Right, and it was his lan to have Vader eventually take over and keep going the Sith, but he was dissapointed in Suite Vader, so he tried to get Luke. Remember the Sith Kill their masters to get lordship, and in this own words, "That is how it should be." so the Sith is constantely becomeing more powerful. Then they recuite new apprentices.

Sidious wanted Luke turned over to the dark side because he was a major threat but he was also very vulnerable at the time and don't forget that Sidious was also prepared for Luke to kill him and become Vader's apprentice if Vader didn't die.
