In case you didn't see the comingsoon main page it has a thing about Episode Three. George Lucas says that the new movie will be PG-13. THANK GOD!!! This is what Star Wars needed. I hate the PG rating. Maybe now the fights and darkness of the movie will be more exciting.

I never minded the PG rating for the others. I mean, it made sense considering that the movies are supposed to be for kids (it's like being annoyed if a Disney movie gets a PG rating!) And hey, it allowed me to see them back in the 70s and 80s when I was too young to see anything else. But I'm glad this one is getting a PG-13. I think the story requires it.

Yea I figured it was going to get something higher than PG it would have to with Anakin going to the dark side and all.

I didn't really care about the rating. I was going to see it either way.

A PG certainly never did ESB any harm, and that was considered 'dark' enough for most tastes.

i would see it too, but i know the higher rating can allow them some more freedom and im with that.

i still find it funny if it gets a pg13 rating.. such memories of the debates here on that.

Good, so we can see a more realized portayal of the drama.

This really won't affect the viewing of it. The same people who would have seen it in pg will go to see it in pg-13. No one is going to pass up this last, final episode.

Well that will make the movie an 'M' rating in NZ. Still I'm happy at the outcome. Look at the LOTR movies for example. They were rated PG-13 as well right?

It's the UK rating i'm worried about. I have an odd feeling it'll be 15, and then edited down to 12A.

Nothing to worry about. I've no doubt it will be 12 with no editing at all. It was the same with ROTK, and I'd say that this has less potential for cuts than that did.

Spiderman 2 got a 15, and then they cut it.

i think the storyline alone is 12A, but if the violence in graphic, it'll be 15. trust me on this one, i've seen how it works.

Socially it'll get 12A, possibly PG, but according to the rulebook it'd probably be 15.

HeadHunter

they'll make it a 12A in the UK for sure

It hasn't been rated yet, but he said he will not censor it to get a PG. He will hand the ratings board the finished film and if it gets a PG-13, that's what it will be.

Pablo confirmed it was PG-13, a few weeks back.

When I hear it from the MPAA, I'll believe it.

Pablo is the one who'll be writing the press release about the movie's rating. I think he knows what he's talking about.

Tornado

He probably does. But, like I said, I won't believe it until the MPAA says it for sure.

Spirited Away

They've already rated it, most likely. The MPAA rate films during their post-production, and not the final film.

Fanible

Well if they've finished the editing anyway. Once they finish the editing and release a rough cut, then it'll be rated for sure.

12A in the UK no doubt.. there's not gonna be any sex, swearing or a massive amount of blood. Just lots of dismemberment. No way would star wars get a 15.

Spirited Away

As i said, Spider-man 2 got a 15. When it was slightly edited, it got a PG.

I'm kind of glad that this will be pg-13. Will see some of the real side of the drama. Although, some of you are right that the empire strikes back was dark for a PG Rating and it was great.

Its all politics. the MPAA will probably give it a PG just beacuse the rest of them were PG. I would most definately like to see a PG-13, but it is not set in stone yet.

That's what I was thinking. The ratings board will be nice to George. I mean, there isn't really going to be anything that gory and the villains are so extreme, that it is obvious it is fantasy violence and not real people going around and shooting people.

I mean, aside from Anakin's volcano bath, there probably won't be any blood (lightsabers don't make people bleed, they singe the nerves in your body together which prevents blood loss). No gratuitous sex or nudity, no swearing (aside from "Hell" maybe, and that's not even a curse really), no excessive violence.

Yeah, I can see this getting a PG.

If you 've "seen how these things work" you'd realise that Spiderman was only a borderline 15 at first, and that was only due to a few minor moments that automactically receive a 15 in the UK (I think something like headbutts is one).

It will be 12/12-A with no cuts, I've not doubt at all. As I said, ROTK seemed to have potential for a slightly higher rating given the material, yet this passed as a 12 fine. If is PG-13 in the USA, then it will be 12/12A here. :)

It's possible it might just get a PG, if they BBFC think it's socially acceptable to all.

However a lot of the major PG-13 films over the past year and a bit have gotten 15 ratings in the UK.

As long as GL used the darker material that he titled the PG-13 version, I don't care what the MPAA gives it.
