I saw this about a week ago in Utah, and I was one of three people in the audience, not a good sign, but considering I have been wanting to see this for quite some time, and also considering American's avoid foreign films like the plague, it wasnt too disconcerting. So what we three got to experience was one hell of a movie most of you will still avoid, and I we can enjoy it all the more!

If you like Audrey Tatou, see this film. If you like Juenet, see this film. If you like Tatou and Juenet together, why the hell havent you seen this film? It is brilliant, and should sweep the oscars! Tatou is breathtaking as usual, and I must say is my new favorite actress. Juenet uses a some what derivitive story-line, but brings it to life in all of its brutal quirkiness like no other could! There is a lot of Juenet in this film, alot! so if you didnt like Amelie ya might want to skip this one.

The film starts out telling the story of these five French soldiers who injured themselves so they could go home, instead they got put death, and were tossed into no mans land, where they were meant to die and go insane in the process. One of those men is Audrey Tatous childhood love. I am not saying much more than that about the plot, because it would be a great injustice to the film and its movie goers.

So basically, if you like quirky Juenet, beautiful talented and intense Tatou, war films, french films, or dramas, see this film! It is very violent, so dont take this kids. It is a bit humorous at parts, though certainly not a comedy. If there is a god we will get many more films from both Juenet and Tatou, and hopefully many more that they do together. Only problem I had with the film was at times I did check my watch, dont really know why though. I wasnt bored nor was it that slow. The list of films really worth seeing this year has just gotten a new addition:

Garden State
2046
A very Long Engagement
Tae Guk Gi
Collateral.

See these films!

A Very Long Engagement=A-

^^ I've heard about this film. Judging from you review rosncranz, this film sounds pretty good. I think I'll check this one.

P.S- I haven't seen any of those films listed except Collateral( hopefully I'll be able to see those other films including A Very Long Engagement very soon). And I agree with you, Collateral is spectacular.

Jeunets work since app 1993 is flawless...
This movie is visually stunning but could use a bit more work on the script, however one of those movies you wont forget: A-

Yeah. Good, but really drawn out. It's almost three hours for christ sakes. 7/10

You also forgot to mention how melodramatic it was in spots.
