I know there are quite a few people that like this band and there was no thread on them so I thought I'd make one. I love their album "We Are Not Alone". Sooner or Later and So Cold are awsome songs by them. So tell your opinions about the band.

You are far from wrong man, Brock just doesn't like mainstream music it seems like. There are a ****load of Breaking Benjamin fans out there and there is a good reason for it. I'm one of them. They are probably one of the best alternative rock bands ever. Ben has a great voice and he is pretty good at playing guitar and singing at the same time. The other guitarist can get the job done, the bass player can really bring it down. The drummer is freakin' bad ass! I like both of their albums and every single song except 1. I saw them in concert over the summer and they were most impressive. One of the best live bands that I have seen in awhile too!

Ahhhhh HAHAHAHAHAHA, they aren't even close to being considered "nu-metal". They have a very distinct sound, and thats why alot of people like them. I have to yet hear a band that sounds just like them. I have especially never heard a vocalist that sounds like that, period.

That kind of scares me too. Or that he's never heard of The Who, one of the greatest bands ever. I can understand never hearing of the Pixies or Pavement, two relatively unknown by popular circles "indie" bands, but The Beach Boys and The Who? C'mon now.

That list kind of confuses me. You consider Green Day, Hoobastank(the anti-christ band of music), Incubus, and Collective Soul to be "heavy metal"?

^^^ Honestly, Brock is right, those bands aren't considered metal (Incubus, Green Day, Hoobastank, Collective Soul), lol. The metal that I listen to is stuff like the following...
Black Label Society
3 Inches of Blood
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Arch Enemy
Children of Bodom
Coal Chamber
God Forbid
Ill Nino
Killswitch Engage
Mastodon
Meshuggah
Metallica
etc. etc.

I'm exactly the same. There is just too much crap out there that I decided to discover the music for yourself. And I've been doing it for over 10 years already. It's been a hell of a ride.
Metal bands/artists I follow:
Black Sabbath
Uriah Heep (I'd prefer to refer to them as Classic Rock but they are pretty heavy)
Iron Maiden
Ozzy Osbourne
Dio
Motorhead
Dream Theater
Queensryche
Symphony X
Pain Of Salvation
Opeth
Ark
Masterplan
Ayreon
Enchant
Pantera (a guilty pleasure)
And I don't refer to Deep Purple, Rainbow and Whitesnake as being metal. They're more Hard Rock. Something different.
But hey I'm more of a Prog Rock person than anything. Probably the only one in here. And perhaps the biggest Deep Purple fan in here too. Something to be proud of. :D

First off, Pantera is a guilty pleasure? Wow thats the first time I've ever heard that! :omg: Anyhow, Opeth, Symphony X, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Dio, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath are bad ass bands! Ark is pretty cool too. I haven't heard of Pain of Salvation, if you had to compare them to someone else, then who do they sound like?
Ah think of a little Faith No More and throw in some Dream Theater and some Tool I suppose. It's hard to compare them really.
Their catalogue:
Entropia (1997)
One Hour By The Concrete Lake (1998)
The Perfect Element (2000)
Remedy Lane (2002)
12:5 (2004) (acoustic live album. How unplugged oughta be)
Be (2004)
Daniel Gildenlow is an amazing vocalist and an amazing songwriter. All the albums are concept albums with The Perfect Element being my favourite.
Songs to download:
King Of Loss
The Perfect Element
Used
This Heart Of Mine (one of the best ballads I've ever heard and lyrically superb)
Ending Theme
People Passing By
Winning A War
Oblivion Ocean
Plains Of Dawn
!
and there are many others. I recommend you check out The Perfect Element first and then check out the others (Remedy Lane next preferably). The latest effort Be is a masterpiece though different from their previous albums.
Pain Of Salvation: An amazing band hailing from Sweden.

As I say, branch out and try new musical styles. Just on certain days I'll listen to Beethoven and the next day I'll have on The Mars Volta or Public Enemy ;)
Well for one to listen to a band like Dream Theater to a band like Genesis to Peter Gabriel to George Benson. I'll listen to something that they put their heart and soul into.
All this mainstream rubbish where the producers are bloody picky and it takes about a year to produce. Look at Toxic for example costing millions of dollars to make an album and you don't need to spend all that money. This coming from an Audio Engineer in training.

"Sooner or Later" is actually a horrible song. They have wayyyyy better material then that. I have both of their cd's and I really love their tunes. Actually, I have tickets for me, Dio, and my wife to go and see them in May and we are really pumped about it. This will be my 2nd time seeing them live, the first time I saw them, they blew me away. Such an awsome live show! :) Contrary to what some other people say, I think they kick alot of ass. I am a musician myself, a drummer, bass guitarist, and a guitarist and these guys have loads of talent. I especially know what a ***** it is to sing with a great voice, remember all of your lyrics and be able to play rhythm and guitar riffs right on with the music while singing.
