Hey everyone found out some information. I went to Nintendo and checked out some upcoming games for the Gamecube. On the list was Zelda, Start Fox but best of all Mario 128. It is going to be the "REAL" sequel to Mario 64 that we all love to play. No bull**** tennis, basketball, golf or baseball just Mario.

Mario Sunshine was the "real" sequal to Mario 64, but yes, Mario 128 is coming out. The name doesn't imply it is the sequal to Mario 64 though, that name came from the number of Mario's that were displayed on the screen since it started out as a tech demo for the gamecube.

They are regarding Mario 128 as the sequel to Mario 64 because it offers, according to Shigeru, the "newness" that wasn't found in Sunshine. So I guess from a marketing standpoint, this is the sequel
Not that it makes a difference though--I'm pretty sure the story remains the same...save the princess from King Koopa. I actually wish they would bring Wart back and come with something fresh. Maybe a Bowser/Wart team up.

I thought Super Mario Sunshine was meant to be the sequel to Super Mario 64? o well. I hope this game turns out good and still stays true to the original.
I still haven't finished Sunshine yet. Come on Nintendo. Bring us a Mario game worth waiting for. When can we see screenshots?

Mario 64 was a solid game. Too bad the rest of the 64 catalog sucked overall.

Star Fox 64 was good
And so was Donkey Kong 64. That was great. Speaking of which when can we expect a full fledged Donkey Kong game for the Cube instead of this Donkey Konga. They can still make the game without Rare for sure.
FVD.
...speaking of Mario. I miss the power plants and his ability to shoot fireballs. The good old days when you get more points jumping on enemies rather than shooting fireballs etc. Super Mario 1. Ah those were the days.

I wouldn't sleep on Jungle Beat...I think it might be something comparable to DK Country. I would keep an open eye and open mind out for it.
And the 64 had some excellent titles with the 64 marquee (i.e. WaveRace 64, StarFox 64 as mentioned) on it and those without (i.e. Ocarina of Time, Conkers Bad Fur Day)---there are many others, but I will leave that for another thread.
i dont know what you guys are talking about, the 64 had plenty of great games including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Jet Force Gemini, GoldenEye, Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Conquer's Bad Furday, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, StarFox 64 as well as many others.
...not forgetting Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire was very good too.

I hope that the new Mario sticks to the basic stuff that was seen on Nintendo's previous consoles. I really would like to see Nintendo make a Mario game for the Gamecube that sticks to the old-school gameplay. The whole water jet pack thing in Mario Sunshine just left me uninterested in the game.

Maybe we will see a more mature Mario- you know like the whole mature Zelda thing? Oh wait, you really can't make a 50 year old overweight plumber any more mature, huh?
I'm not thinking there will be much of a difference in this one. It will probably be very much similar to Sunshine even though Nintendo says they will do more with it. I'm thinking the more will be to take away the jetpack you so loathe.

You sure about that? That'd be quite the concidence when both 64 and 128 are powers of 2. The 64 (Nintendo 64) stood for the 64-bit processor, 128 is double that.
(And yes, Star Fox 64 was real good)
the 128 is from the number of mario's that were on screen, but that was just a demo or something like that. i'll be suprised if the final game is anything like it.
