Serious Issue Rectified [Archive] - The ComingSoon.net Boards

Today, after discovering a few items of interest in a few logs. I discovered something very interesting/serious. It seems two members of the ComingSoon.net staff have been using his access to store Pornographic Material on the ComingSoon.net server.

Yes you heard me correctly. The issue of finding that ComingSoon.net had run over its bandwidth limits was because of a continued presence of shady material being uploaded and downlaoded from a few deeply hidden directories. This has been rectified. New security procedures have been instituted to protect the site and all the honest users around.

I know you are all curious as to who has done this so here you go, JBond and Olorin.

Yes it was a shocker to me. As of now, they have been removed and permanently banned from not only the forums, but the site as a whole. People with their "lack of integrity" are an insult.

As I notified them, I notified the local law enforcement as well as ComingSoon's ISP and a few other places. Needless to say, I dont believe they will be doing this to anyone for a long time.

On a personal note, I am deeply saddened by it and have taken it as a personal insult.

I am also shocked. I would have never expected this from Olorin or JBond. Especially JBond. He was a nice guy and semmed very intelligent. He was our leader. Guess not...

People do some really stupid things sometimes, regardless of the consequences. It's pretty pathetic.

I'd like to apologize to anyone that was really annoyed by this. I seriously thought in about 10 minutes after the first post that someone would say "oh look, tomorrow is April Fool's Day, what a coincedence!!" But everyone thought it was serious and some were real mad and I'm sorry and I am NOT "getting a kick out of this" as some of you think. I am not one to pull big time pranks (or any for that matter) and didn't see this being a huge thing. I will never do anything like this again and I hope you all can trust and forgive me.

It seems the issue has touched some deep-rooted fears in some of us. It would indeed be a horrible thing if someone that we learned to trust ended up doing something like that. However, it WAS only a joke, so hopefully the anger will be shortlived. JBond, Olorin, TECH, and Mirko, I thought it was hilarious. And TECH, I don't blame you for ending it too soon. There was a nasty undercurrent to the mood for those two days, and I have a feeling that it would only have gotten worse.

I thought it was very funny. but the inherant flaw was you picked the wrong mods for the joke to work. Olorin and Jibbs are, how should I put this, not the "porno" type. If you picked rob, dubloth, me, or Frizzo, you could have pulled it off more easily. :D

1 ½ year ago, and it's still funny. I can't believe I got so mad about it, it's freaking hilarious. I remember talking to Olorin on aim at the time and he'd just shown me one of his videos where as a joke he was performing a striptease, then almost the exact minute Malice posted this and I was like "wow he really is a pervert!" :funny:

Combine the bumping of this thread, talking about wanting to pull a new one, with the creation of the thread talking about how much he misses LOTR,
