Ok, I'm really confused about something that I have noticed on ComingSoon's message boards about "spam". Sometimes when people make pointless posts or threads that have already been made then its called spam? I am just confused because I was a mod over at WrestleWar for years and we considered spamming where people post their websites or just coming on to advertise for something. Let me know what exactly spam is considered here. I'm just confused on the whole ordeal. Thanks guys! :D

Besides being and abreviation for spiced ham which aparently skinny really likes. Spam is anything that people don't like or they don't feel has a point. For the most part it includes ads for other websites/shows/movies. But it has been expanded to include anything that dosen't serve a point.
Maybe a definition of spam will be put in the FAQ section.
i really dont understand the spam system here. if people make a thread which is already in existent, they get yelled at for spam and they should have just used the old thread. but then again i've also seen people bump really old threads and then get yelled at about it saying that they should just be left to die.

Duplicate threads are not "spam," but theyre closed to keep things tidy and mantain maximum efficiency.

Stupid Pointless Anti-productive Messages
That's my definition.
Does the point accomplish anything?
Does it relate to the topic?
Does it open up a realm of discussion that others have interest in?
Does it have any value other than to boost someone's post count? (<---this is my big pet-peeve)
If the answers to any of the above are No, then I categorize it as SPAM

I like Pixi's definition better ;)
I found this on the web, hopefully helpful:
SPAM - Traditionally, spam is flooding message boards, newsgroups, mailing lists, or your mailbox with unwanted, unsolicited off-topic messages--usually ads or promotions or deliberate disruptions. It is a major violation of netiquette, and it violates member agreements in most places and can lead to account cancellation. While spam is usually viewed as large numbers of messages, to the individual, one unwanted message is spam.
There is some debate about the source of the term, but the generally accepted version is that it comes from the Monty Python song, "Spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam…" Like the song, spam is an endless repetition of worthless text. Another school of thought maintains that it comes from the computer group lab at the University of Southern California who gave it the name because it has many of the same characteristics as the lunchmeat Spam:
Nobody wants it or ever asks for it.
No one ever eats it; it is the first item to be pushed to the side when eating the entree.
Sometimes it is actually tasty, like 1% of junk mail that is really useful to some people.
I just noticed that TPAM and SPAM are different by only one letter... Coincidence?
I think not :P.

Ok, then here is what I think should happen. I think its really dumb to call threads that are pointless spam because really spam is just advertising from what I understand and what I also hear on television. Other people don't see it as spam and don't seem to have a problem with it so you all should just close the thread rather than calling it spam. :) I'm not trying to sound like an ass but lets just have common sense here because the "spam" meaning is expanding to more than it was meant for.

LMAO, actually it kind of was for that reason but I've been wanting to say something for awhile and just decided to. I was afraid that people would jump me instead of explaining, lol. :)
