Anyone gonna watch this? As weird as it seems, it has been getting good reviews, which means two potential hit shows for ABC this season. (With Lost).
But I like what I've seen so far. Any thoughts?

I don't know... I'm kinda burned out on the reality TV shows... but if it's selling sex... then why not? Are they gonna be real housewifes... and if so... wouldn't their husbands know of them cheating if it's broadcasted?

it's not a reality show at all.. it's a drama-ish comedy about some upper class people's everyday lives and how they act one way at home and try to project an entirely different image to their neighbors.. at least that's what i got from the ads for it. it looked like it might be decent.

Yeah at first I kept getting it confused with that Wife Swap show haha, but that's just plain crap. This looks pretty good. It's the best reviewed new show on tv. (Arrested Development held that position last year, and it was great!)

saw the wife swap show sunday-rather funny with the womn with 25 pets! geez!
As for Desperate Housewives it starts this Sunday and it's not a reality type show-it's written by the same folks that wrote Melrose Place and General Hospital so we should expect steam, steam, steam. My kinda show;)

who tuned in last night and what did you all think?
Can we say some hot scenes with the gardener and Eva Langoria, geez!-and Marcia Cross-love that she plays a Martha Stewart esque woman in a dissolving marriage. What about that pool though-what kind of secret is at the bottom of the pool? will be tuning in next week for sure.

I thought it was great seeing the marriage counsellor take Bree's side after she reattached the button on his jacket..lol

it's a pretty well done show. It actually has depth to it and a sort of Twin Peaks kind of vibe
I rather like it

I watched the encore saturday night and sunday I tuned in also. It has a very interesting spin on the narrative part of the story- a dead woman is narrating. I like the intrigue with the plot lines also. I wasn't going to give this show a chance, but I was bored. I'm glad I did, I really enjoyed the show. Definitly one of my new must see shows this season :)

Teri Hatcher will always be Penny Parker to me. I was watching it the other night, flipping back and forth between that and Stargate, and thinking, "So THAT'S what a MacGyver reunion movie would look like!"

I saw it too-what is up with that wooden chest? that hubby smells pretty darn guilty! I can't figure out whether Mike is a cop-or is undercover of some kind maybe trying to find the reason why the woman killed herself? The dog and the earring scene was hysterical-had not remembered that the dog was Mike's wife's and her dying wish was that he took care of the ol' german shep.
Did anyone see the previews for Sunday-I missed them...

as a housewife, in the age range of these ladies, I was really interested in seeing what the show would came up with. Some of my girlfriends and I made a pact to watch, to at least give it a shot. I'm so glad we did!
I *love* this show. it's a little freaky how accurate some of that stuff can be. no i haven't had a friend do herself in, but i do have friends that left some pretty big time careers to do the "mom" thing. The scene when Felicity Huff gets pulled over by the cop because her kids were out of control, and then the cop sorta slams her because she can't control them... her reaction to him, "Are you calling me a bad mother??" (and then his fear of her) made me laugh so hard. (that once really happened to a friend of mine, (getting pulled over) about 6 yrs ago, when her two kids were going ape**** in the backseat)
the characters are interesting, i love that we're not quite sure what the husband of the dead woman is up to. i love that Mike D. might be there for some sneaky business... (who hired him? Teri Hatcher's ex to get out of child support?) and that stepford wife... woo boy, she's a piece of work.
ABC has really pulled off some interesting, well developed shows. this one and LOST just stand out from all the rest.

I finally was able to watch the first episode and I really enjoyed it. I am worried about the long run for the show. I think that after a couple of seasons its just going to seem to be repetitive. If they can keep coming up with new situations and characters this will last longer. But I can see it losing steam quickly.
Steve125
10-25-2004, 06:40 AM
Last night was a great episode! Carlos beating up the gay plumber, and Bree making an appearance at the strip club were both classic moments...lol
I'm glad to see nobody bought Mary-Alice's husband's story.

I agree with you Steve-I thought they might have for a second and was glad that they didn't. It looks like our gal Eva Langoria's character may be in for some trouble next week with the mom coming in town. Do you think she'll get busted?
equipe-I wouldn't be so concerned with how long the show will last-DH has been picked up for a full season already-which is a very good sign that we the viewers have faith in this one and so does ABC.

Well-the episodes have seemed pretty fresh and original imo-the whole scene with Mary Alice's son, Zach, was pretty intriguing. I wonder what he did to think that he's the reason his mom killed himself?
Steve125
11-01-2004, 04:36 PM
Good question. I wonder where he was being taken away to? How are the girls gonna get him back? That whole scene with the Christmas decorations was kinda creepy. lol But I'm starting to like Bree more and more each week!

I dont know if this is Dana but i read that when the suitcase is opened they find a body of a 25 year old and diamonds so i think that if Dana is the one in the suitcase i think she was probably Zachs baby-sitter when he was younger and maybe his dad slept with her and Mary Alice killed her. I am probably wrong but thats my therory.
willis
11-15-2004, 10:05 AM
maybe-there is definitely something up with the dad-he seems much more evil and guilty than the son. I'm curious if Dana was in fact a sitter or someone else close to the family. Regardless-several of the clues the son mentioned was that his mom killed herself because of him-so that's something to keep in mind.
Was bummed that it wasn't on last night but saw Eva and Nicolette at the AMA's-they were smokin!

I absolutely love this show. It is completely addicting and highly entertaining. It seems to me like a TV version of "American Beauty" with a thriller element of "Twin Peaks" thrown in for good measure.
My favorite character is Bree-- she is a hilarious nutjob. I do think something is up with Rex, and wouldn't be surprised if he was gay.
P.S. The Gardener is a total hottie *drool*

I know they said someone will get knocked off, but I haven't heard a lot of theories on who it will be...
I think the TV promos are trying to make us believe it will be Eddie, but I don't buy that. Just think about what the note said:
I know what you did.
It makes me sick.
I'm going to tell.
(or at least this is close to what it said, without me rewatching the tape)
Eddie... "it makes me sick" ???
um. no. nothing would surprise that girl. I just don't see her sending that kind of note if she were the blackmailer. The first line might work, but not the other two. If she did know something, she wouldn't tell, she'd try to get what ever she could...
so who does that leave?

Actually it was 28 million people the last half hour-unbelievable. I saw the actress that plays Ms. Huber on the View Monday and she said that she'd be back to be in some flashbacks similar to how Mary Alice has.
What did you all think about Felicity Huffman? great acting on her part, I thought-a lot of moms out there can relate to her character.

I've always admired Felicity's work (loved her on "Sports Night"). She's just a consummate actress. She's very brave for doing so many of her scenes with no makeup. Other actresses, that have played break downs, usually keep their hair looking nice, and their makeup smudge free.
As for being a mom that women can relate to, I think she nailed this part dead on. No one is more unsure of their abilities, or doubts themselves, as much as a mother. We constantly second guess what we've done. We make a thousand decisions, every day, that can have long term ramifications on our children. I'm a mother of an 11 yr boy and a 9 yr old girl, and let me tell you, in the beginning, it was tough! Though I never resorted to popping pills to get through my day, I do remember frequent crying spells when the kids were napping, when I would just hope to God I hadn't screwed them up some way. And I wasn't the exception. I had a tight support group of other new moms. They were feeling largely the same way. There is always a "Bree" in the group that makes everything look effortless, and you end up feeling like a screw up because your kids haven't had green veggies in over a week. It takes time, but you do grow to learn that things will work out ok. You do the best you can, and just hope they don't end up on Ricki Lake ratting you out to the world. ;)

Wow! This whole Zach storyline has been interesting. And we found out more details about Dana, so that was cool.
I loved Lynette's reaction to the nanny trying to get the kids to eat brussel sprouts. That was so evil. :funny:
And it's about time Bree got rid of Rex. I really like her, and he's been treating her like crap. Was it implied that he had another heart attack after she told him? Cause the pulse monitor was speeding up, and she left. So were we supposed to assume he was okay?

Yay, I'm glad I am not the only person who knows of this show. I just discovered it recently on dvd (joy of Netflix) and I am hooked. I only have one disk left of the series and I am almost dreading viewing it, because then I'll have seen every episode ever made. Sniffle Sniffle.
But yes, Felicity is awesome. She is consistently great in every thing I see her in. Even Showtime's "Out Of Order", playing a woman battling with depression.

I just watched the first episode the other day. It is very well written, and funny. But it just seemed to me as though something was missing from it. It could have been the music. Or just the extra censorship since it is on a broadcast channel. I am a little used to the extreme raciness of Nip/Tuck I guess. But then I realized I worked on Still Standing with the son of the red headed mom. He gets a lot of work. Just from watching the first episode I personally give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Did anyone see two weeks ago when Edie threw Ms. Huber's ashes in Susan's face? That was nuts. And that Zack kid is getting creepier and creepier.
It says on Eonline that a character is going to be outed, and also, two people are going to be caught in a pool that'll cause a big stir.

I'm over this show. The only reason I watch is b/c it's on before Grey's - and some weeks I don't even bother to tune in. I loved it at first b/c I was so sick of reality shows and it was heralded the return of scripted television. NOw it's just too melodramatic and soapy for me. I still catch it from time to time but have not watched religiously.
