Like most people here, I have a strong disdain for people who talk loud during movies, talk on the phone or keep getting up every five minutes. I think home videos have caused some people to forget they are in a theatre and not at home. Anyone have suggestions for handling people who constantly talk loud during movies without causing a fight?

These people don't forget where they are, they're just inconsiderate asses who need a good beatdown by the usher with his glowstick...

My parents said back in the day they were harsher on people talking during the movie.

Home movies have nothing to do with people talking during the movie. Dogbert already explained why people talk.

I find when I go to the cinema it's too bloody loud to talk, the person I'm sitting next to can't even hear me when I'm talking to her.

I dont know, I hate the *******s who talk, but I Hate the jerks that kick my seat more than 5 times. 4 times is still in the accident category, but 5 and over is when I start to make gestures, stare at them, or if it comes to it, say something.

People should be bound and gagged in theaters, therefore preventing talking and seatkicking... (and then clubbed with the lightsticks just for the hell of it)

I always seem to get an Asian(I am not racsist in any way, shape or form) who likes to talk incredibly loud in chinese on their cell in the movie- I tell them to shut up and they play the whole "I dont speak english" thing ---- if you dont speak english what the hell are you doing at the movies then!?!?!?!

Its the worst when you go and there is a group of giggley teenage girls sat on the back row. Its not too bad at my local cinema cos if you report them they get thrown out streight away.

Also what I really hate is when someone behind you starts kicking your seat. That has caused many a fight.

Oooh and when the cinema is empty and someone comes and sits on the chair in front of you.

Don't you go to Press screenings of movies? Surly the Press don't talk at the movies.

By the way if you don't want any talk during the movie then how far do you take it? No laughing at the jokes, no groaning at the sick parts or cheering when the hero wins? (I’m trying to see it from the talkers’ point of view)

I hate people who talk or make noises during movies, I hate people who clap, I hate people who cough or sniff, I hate people who make noises with their candy paper or chew really loud and I hate people who laugh hysterically, or people who laugh at inappropriate times, like if there's a scene that's supposed to be sentimental or sad, and some jerk finds it funny and wants to share with the rest of the theatre that he's not touched by it, just shut the **** up please! Laughing is okay, but controlled. And of course I hate cell-phones in theatres, it should be forbidden to even carry them into the theatre. But most of all I hate children...and their parents, the most annoying thing is when a parent reads the subtitles aloud in the theatre, that kinda of thing makes me want to become violent. Or when parents bring children to the movies that are obviously too young to be there, so they start crying or yelling. Children shouldn't be allowed in theatres!

I hate when people talk during movies, but it is only one certain theatre that it happens most at. And that one is also the newest and best one around where i live.

I hate it when I'm eating my sweets/candy and I suddenly find they have all fallen to the bottom of the packet and then harder I try to be quite the louder it seems to be. I feel so bad for everyone else who are probably wishing I would die and stop trying to eat.

Heh, when I went to see Hero it was probably the worst audience I've ever seen a movie with. Cell phones ringing everywhere, and multiple babies crying. Can't these parents get a baby sitter? EDIT: And sitting front row usually prevents these things from bothering you, but this time I guess not. :(

I hate the giggly teenage girls who sit at movies going 'lyKe OmG, lYkE OrLaNdO BlOoM Iz LyKe dA hOtTeSt AnD mOsT tAlEnTeD aCtOr!!1!!!!1' JUST SHUT THE **** UP! No he isn't and he's just standing there looking pretty! Also, I hate when people leave their cell phones on and some one calls them. As if that's not annoying enough, there are people who have the godamn audacity to start talking! Dude, go outside or something.

Btw, that whole imitation took me like 5 minutes to write. How the heck do people type like that?

Has home video ruined the moviegoing experience?

No, I don't think so. Without home video, many of us would never even get to enjoy the moviegiong experience. For example, there is no way that I would have been able to afford to go see Return of the King. But my buddy Scott's dad is rich, and so he can afford to see alot of movies. Scott snuck his dad's camcorder into the theater and got a real nice recording of the movie before any of the ushers could catch him.

Then I got to see the videotape later that night. So you see, home video has been good for my moviegoing experience.
