Escape from Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Myst, The Longest Journey... Most gamers have had a brush with these "put-and-click" style adventure games atleast once... Personally I love them, theres nothing like wandering round an area for hours, talking to NPC's and continueingly going back to your inventory to figure out what goes where. These style of games never really took off on next-generation consoles ( recently there was Broken Sword 3, but it was more Tomb Raider than anything else ).

What does everyone else think?

Miss good ol`?

KOTOR was just like you discribed it now...... (except for the put and click)

Yeah, that's KOTOR basically.

I think you both missed the point, they have similarites sure... But an adventure game is an adventure game, an RPG is an RPG. Rent Syberia or The Longest Jounrey ( I think they are pretty recent ), and you'll get the idea of what a point and click Adventure game is.

I didn't read the point and click part.

Myth III is pretty recent is it not?

I dunno about the recent ones, but I'd like to get my hands on a copy of all the originals and play them again.

Sadly, it's a dying, if not already dead genre. Damn stupid LucasArts and the cancelation of Sam & Max!!
