My apoligies if this has been already done.

What do you think should be next in the world of film..... We've Had Lord of the Rings, where having a spate of Ancient History films..... So what should it be

I What id like to see next (again with the popularity of Histoical epics), is a retelling of the Battle of thermopalye (300 spartans - 1,000,000 Persians)

Id like to see it Done by Ridley Scott, and I think it would be sweet to see it done as a cross Between Black Hawk Down (both in story arc and interms of the visuals and telling of the story) and Gladiator. Dont know who to star, I think it would be better as an ensemble piece, without a single major star or a prevailing personal storyline. Soundtrack wise id like to see again a hans Zimmer BHD Style score.

I would love to see a film based on the Battle of Thermopalye. That would be pretty cool.

i think if there is another epic ancient war movie made i will kill somebody, it is overkill and they all turn out mediocre at best.

The Anciet History films will die out after this year because of the superhero/future/general comedy movies. Marvel is just getting going on it's superhero franchise. And we're seeing a lot more futurist movies after Minority Report. I expect that to continue as well as the Will Ferrel Franchise :)

And that's your opinion, at best. I have enjoyed nearly every one of them. Troy included.

oh shut the hell up, i am not going to put IMO on every damn thing, so deal with it. not too mention i think it is safe to categorically say that they were somewhat poor judging from box office and overall consensus, and thats not my oppinion DEAL WITH IT!

That depends on what you would call successful. Every movie does not have to gross over 300 million to be considered successful. Troy has done well to me nearing the 200+ mark. The only ancient history film that looks like its going to flop is King Arthur and that might not even happen. And thats my oppinion :D

I think they should slow it down with the Superhero movies. Don't get me wrong. I like them all(except for the HULK) but if they make a movie ON every superhero in the next 5 years then that category will be dead forever. Leave some for the future. Also I'd like to see more Horror films. Not cheesy sequals like "Jason X" but ORIGINAL ones. The classics have been killed. It's time to start a new horror movie series.

Well, we have The Chronicles of Narnia in the works, plus some more (and hopefully better) Tom Clancy adaptations, and a DaVinci Code adaptation coming up... I'd love to see some more main-stream documentaries, and more indie-films... But as for mainstream, I think what's next is driving the historical epic and superhero genres into the ground over the next 5-10 years...

They made one already.

It sucked arse.

Dr. Z, did you get your movie from the Last Samurai?

I wouldn't mind if you continue the fantasy train with some nice movies based on R.A Salvatore's best character, Drizzt Do'Urden.

I think if done right they will have a lot of action as well as a lot of drama and emotional scenes as well.

They should make more War Epics Like...

The Longest Day
A Bridge Too Far
Saving Private Ryan
Zulu
Patton
Midway

They were great movies

Yeah I agree with that. I'm kind of a history enthusiast my self. I wouldn't mind a movie about the miracle of Dunkirk. For you guys that don't know what that is. That's when Hitler invaded France useing Blitzkrieg tactics. France was already taken and soldiers were traped and cornered. Britian called for all workable vessels to go across the english channel to rescue the men. 300,000 men were saved in what in now known as the mracle of Dunkirk.

If they are going to make an hystoric movie again, they should make a historical comedy based off of Arisophanes Lysistrata, the pelopensian war and the adonis festival, where the women cut the phallus's off of herms the night before the failed expodition. Lets see some historical movies with women in power.

There was already one made way back when which is being released on DVD, called "The 300 Spartans." And I believe there is another one being made currently.

Michael Mann is supposedly going to direct Gates of Fire, but there hasn't been word of it's development in quite a long time.

I just hope there are more historical epics like King Arthur instead of the stupidly cartoonish Troy.

StarCraft = I liked it better when it was called Starship Troopers ;)

WarCraft = Too many people would dismiss it as a LOTR ripoff ;)

Diablo = Sure, why the hell not? :)

Well you are correct on that prediction.

It deserves less imo.

35 million in 2 weeks and it cost about 160 million including marketing.
