Now that it has taken so damned long, two classic 1980s "cult classics"-- "CHOPPING MALL" (1986) and "WITCHBOARD" (1987) are FINALLY being released on DVD!

Not too incredibly, "Anchor Bay" will be distributing the latter film, but the surprise is that "artsy" studio, "Lion's Gate" (the same "Lion's Gate" handling the Michael Moore "FAHRENHEIT 9/11" cash cow), will be handling "CHOPPING MALL"! (Can you say, "no freakin' way!"?):p

Both titles are scheduled to be marketed in late-August.

[[Still no word on the horizon as to when or if there will be a DVD release of "NIGHT OF THE CREEPS" or if "FLASH GORDON" will ever be re-released, though.]]

The saddest part of this news is the fact that these and several other 80s titles have taken just so far too long to finally be offered on DVD that I have completely lost total interest in ever wanting to add an of these titles to my personal collection. (Sometimes anticipation produces the opposite effect.) So, instead, I'll just hold on to the memories.... If anyone else wants to get super-excited about their pending release, there ya go, have a happy. I still think it's good news, all the same.
