How did you go from writing and/or directing such family-oriented movies like "Wide Awake" and "Stuart Little," to more mature and darker movies, like your more recent films?

Your movies are known for there plot twists. When you make a movie is the movie built around the plot twist or is the plot twist built around the movie?

Mr. Shymalan
I am currently an aspiring director/screenwriter such as yourself (though I am only a teenager) and wish to write a screenplay and send it in to a company. Do you, an accomplished screenwriter/director, have any reccomendations on how to get my screenplay shopped around to different companies? I consider you a hero to me since you are doing what I wish to do in the future. Thanks for replying, if you do.
My second question is, how do you feel about Ajay Nideu parodizing you in Scary Movie 3 as your character in Signs?
Finally, Why did someone like you, who makes horror movies now, decide to be involved with a lighthearted movie like Stuart Little?
Thank you for your time.

Mr Shyamalan, after the box office results were in for Unbreakable, it seems as though the idea to continue the story was dropped, though, before the release of the movie, it was rumored that you commented on turning the first film into a trilogy. At this stage in your career, given your overall success, would you ever go back to this film and continue the story?
On a side note, I along with many fans of the comic book genre, think that this was one of the most amazing origin stories ever told on film and would love to see another match up of the hooded man and Mr. Glass.

How important for you is your collaboration with composer James Newton Howard? How did it start actually? Was it you asking for Howard, or him hearing of Sixth Sense and trying to reach you?

What was the idea in making a suspense/horror film in the past instead of setting the film in the presest as you have done in your last three films?

Hey, at least I've got two real questions for a change..usually all I can come up with are stupid, bull**** questions that I know would never get asked. I've got real questions this time, damnit. ;)

Obviously you've been inspired by Hitchcock. What are some of your other favorite directors and writers?
My other question is: When you are writing a screenplay, do you try write from your heart or write for the production company's wants/demands?

Hey Mr. Shyamalan,
I had two questions:
1) Since your from a south asian background, do you watch Bollywood movies?
2) Have you ever thought about going to Bollywood and directing a film there?
Thanks,
Imraan

Mr.Shyamalan:

You seem like a guy who doesn't like to argue much, but I know the studios have given you grief in the past. What are some situations that have caused you to raise your voice (and/or tear your hair out) while trying to make movie magic?

As a filmaker, you seem to be very interested in the Spiritual. Where does that come from?
Your movies seem to offer an natural, scientific explination, then turn around and become supernatural. Do you think this applies to "real" life outside the movies?

1. For how long are you planning to continue making supernatural thrillers? Will you eventually move on to something else?
2. Dead people, superheroes, aliens and monsters are the supernatural themes you've based your thrillers on so far. What other things would you want to make movies out of?
3. Do you personally believe that extraterrestial life does indeed exist?

I love your first fight sequence that you put on the Unbreakabe DVD. How old were you in that movie? How old were you when you made your very first film?

Was there a reason that all of your recent movies have been dark, or were filled with suspense, and your earlier movies weren't. I'm wondering if something happened in your life to change what kind of movies you like to make. Thanks!

I have read that the script for Unbreakable was much longer than the final film; despite the movie not being a box office success, will its critical acclaim propel you to one day revisit that movie in hopes of expanding the story and finding its audience?

Mr. Shyamalan,
I'm a big fan of your movies, expecially Signs.
Can we expect any more film from you that deal with extraterrestial?
What is your favorite movie?

Roger Ebert has said, "In a time when Hollywood mistakes volume for action, Shyamalan makes quiet films. In a time when incessant action is a style, he persuades us to play close attention to the smallest nuances." Besides Alfred Hitchcock's influence on your movies, what has influenced you to pay so much attention to sound design and sound editing, and how do you go about accomplishing this remarkable feat?

Mr. Shyamalan-
When you first begin to develope an idea, do you right everything down first? i.e. characters names and personality/part in the story, you ultimate idea, etc? Or, do you just keep what you want in your head and start writing the script from the beginning? Or in some other way?
Do you ever base your stories or characters off of something you want to be or experience? Is there any character that you have invented that mirrors yourself, or someone you would like to be. Is there a story you've developed that you think would be interesting to experience personally?
Thanks!
Baadshah

Hello M. Night Shyamalan;
My name is Manoj as well. I'm from Trivandrum, India. Any plans on making Malayalam films? Also, why abbreviate the name Manoj? Was it your decision or someone else's?
I happen to think you are fantastic and as such hope you don't mind this particular brand of harassment.
Are there any modern directors that inspire you in your work? I have to say that any sort of collaboration between yourself and Sam Mendes would rock my world. Have you ever thought about doing something like that?
Do you have a muse?
If you found out you could only write/direct one more movie and that's it, but it could be about anything that you wanted, what sort of movie would you make?
And lastly, how do you like your popcorn? >:D

Mr. Shyamalan, Im a huge fan, and I know your movies are now known for the endings, does it bother you that some people may watch the movie looking for clues to the ending rather then paying attention to the development of the story and characters?

Hey, Mr. Shyamalan, I've been in to directing for awhile now, and to me your the best thats out there, no one uses the language of film in the ways you do...so i was wondering if you could give some advice on specific details to play attention to when creating and directing a story...and is there any advice in general for upcoming directors like myself? (aside from the normal "work hard and follow your dreams")

Mr. Shyamalan,
1. From the trailers that I have seen from "The Village" it seems to be somewhat alleglorical from the story of the Passover of the Jews. Is this true?
2. How do you feel about alleglorical stories?
3. Disney is making "The Chronicles of Narnia", it has been rumored that they want to make all seven books into movies. Would you consider doing "The Last Battle" if they offered it to you? I think this would be awesome!

Oh I hope they ask Aslan's first question... I have been wondering that one for a while. Good question, the "red mark" seems very allegorical!!
Mr. Shamalamadingdong, does this film REALLY end with the line "Crazy ****in White People" like spoilers have indicated?
