Tickets to a movie premiere

I've always wanted to go to one (and actually see the movie, not just scream for the TV cameras and take pictures) and I figure I'd start next year with either Batman or Star Wars. Where would I get tickets to this stuff? Or are they like industry & contest-winners only?

I read something about a lot of premieres being benefits for charities. They sell the tickets to the general public, but they're pretty expensive. Good luck.
