This movie seems to be one that people love...or hate. I for one LOVED every second of it and thought it was amazing, but does anyone know if there will be a second one?

No sequel thanks. It doesn't need it.
Why not just do any entirely different virus kills most of humanity story? It's not like 28 days later was the first of this genre.

The movie was great until they got to the military stuff. And please no sequel.
I really liked it, but no sequel is needed.

Exactly. Just because you liked a movie doesn't mean it should have a sequel.

I don't think it would work as well the second time. Not only that, but at the end of the story they were destroying the zombies, I don't see how they could bring them back.

Fortunately Danny Boyle has better things on his plate than a needless sequel to 28 Days Later.

Couldnt really be done.
They pretty much left it so it wasnt open for a sequel...If they did make one it would be pretty much the first film again.

Agree. This one is not sequal-material imo.

Citizen Kane...I dont think they are zombies. In the movie they never say they are. It is just a virus that causes cannibalistic humans that are one a hungar and anger rampage. Just a little heads up. Correct me if I am wrong.
28 Days Later is a movie you either Love or Hate. No in between. I loved it. It was good. Real good in my opinion and where I live thats saying something big. Although I loved it, there is no reason for a second one. What could they do with a second one? I dont think anything.

I very much agree. The military parts really did suck, it was real good until then. It just didn't fit in.

I liked the alternate ending that they have as storyboards on the DVD and Danny Boyle does a voiceover as if he was the characters...Its a better ending IMO but I understand why they dropped it, it wouldnt have made sense too keep it.

I know that, but it's easier to say 'zombie' than 'Rage-infected human being'. I was just saving some time.

Agree with you on that one. I thought it was cool when they picked off the infected people running towards the building they were in. Other than that though, it was pretty much a big let down to me once they got to the military people.

Actually, 28 days later IS THE sequel to the Sandra Bullock alcohol addiction melodrama "28 days".

So if there's a 28 Days Later 2, wouldn't that make it 56 Days Later? ;)

i think this movie was made after a woman's period.
the average days apart from the time of month is 28 days.
To get infected, you get red blood in you. red blood equals....well you know what i mean.
so 28 Days Later means 28 Days after your last period. which mean everyone (even the guys) get there period and they have massive mood swings which make them crazy. :D

Which in itself was a sequel to the Harrison Ford and Ann Heche yawn fest "6 days 7 nights".

Fox Searchlight is developing a sequel to 28 Days Later, the Danny Boyle-directed horror film that became a fall hit in 2002, reports Variety. The trade says that the tentative title is 28 Weeks Later and that the studio is in talks with Rowan Joffe (BBC's Last Resort) to write the script.
Boyle is not expected to direct the sequel, though he and screenwriter Alex Garland likely will take producing roles alongside the first film's producer, Andrew Macdonald.
In the original, a powerful virus is unleashed on the British public following a raid on a primate research facility by animal rights activists. Transmitted in a drop of blood and devastating within seconds, the virus locks those infected into a permanent state of murderous rage. Within 28 days the country is overwhelmed and a handful of survivors begin their attempts to salvage a future, little realizing that the deadly virus is not the only thing that threatens them.
The low-budget film, starring Cillian Murphy, grossed $45 million in the U.S. and north of $25 million overseas.
28 weeks later? that is the stupidest name.
i guess the period is striking again.

Good god, I hope this falls apart, just like Gladiator 2 and The Sixth Sense 2 disappeared. Without the original talent, and with absolutely no reason for a sequel, this is just uncalled for.

Some horror films can have sequels, some horror films actually need sequels, but 28 Days Later does not need nor would I care to see a 28 Weeks Later. The premise will most likely be about where the virus spreads to another part of the world where the main cast will basically repeat everything from 28 Days Later. It is pointless to make a sequel for a film that was resolved already.

a sequel would only be worst !!

28 days later was a great movie, and who ever thinks that the second part with soldiers sucks, should better continue to watch mindless splatter movies instead of movies with brains...
Perfect story, perfectly made, I trully love it, but making a sequel is a horrible idea.

I would have said this would be a bad idea if the ending was more complete but since the ending leave an open door for sequel, I guess the writer and director can go for it but be really careful.
