View Full Version : What should be next for The Matrix Trilogy?

Right now a new game is currently being developed called the matrix online and then there is still a 9 disc boxset that will eventually come out. Do you think anything else will or should come out? If so, what and why? If not, why?

I think they should come out with an Animatrix 2, a prequel to the first matrix(maybe about a different ONE), A movie based off of The Second Renaissance Part 1 and 2, and more video games. UBI Soft has also anounced that there is a 50% chance that a new matrix game called the matrix chronicles might come out and you can actually be neo. That would be awesome if that came out. I also think they should make Enter the Matrix 2 where instead of revolving around Reloaded it would Revolve around Revolutions. Think of it, it would be awesome to be a zion soldier operating an APU and taking out thousands of Sentinals, or being a gunner or co-pilet for the Hammer!

I think there is enough matrix already.

True, but most of this new stuff can come out in the distant future. Alot has come out recently for the matrix.

I too think there is already enough Matrix stuff out there. There'll most likely be a box set, but other then that there doesn't need to be anything else.

I wouldn't mind if they had another animatrix type thing. NOw I liked the Matrix Trilogy but I liked the Animatrix better, I thought it was awesome.

Yeah, what else can they squeeze out of this failed project.

neo5595

All that is confirmed is a boxset and a game. I just think animatrix 2 and more games would be neat.

Yeah... I don't think they should make any more films. Another Anime series would be fine.

This franchise is done and Trust me , It will not be around forever like Star Wars has been or Lotr Will be.

Most disappointing Trilogy ever.IMO of course.

I don't think another Animatrix would work. It's already covered pretty much every possible angle the Matrix can be looked at. I think what's best for fans of the Animatrix, like myself, is that the big names in anime got together again but made a set of shorts based on something else.

The Matrix is over, they should just leave it. It doesn't have lasting appeal like other franchises.

Actually The Matrix Online looks to be one of the best MMORPG created....but anyway.

They shouldnt release anything after that.

I would like to see an Animatrix type thing about Seraph, his backstory with the Merovingian and his encounter with Smith...Thats really the only thing I would like to see.

Andrey83
06-04-2004, 10:22 AM
Yeah i agree. Saraph is actually a very interesting caracter. I would see a spin-off with him. I wouldnt mind if it was a normal movie (what is it called actually? live-action?)

I know most wouldnt have anything more, but i know i would probably go see it.

neo5595

Most likly if they had a spin-off for Seraph character it would go dierctly to DVD.

Another Animatrix with original stories and some stuff that ties in with the trilogy, and maybe another console game... After that, just let it die.

A spin-off of Trinity could be neat.

It might work... If she wasn't dead.

The reason I dont think a Spin Off Seraph live action film would work is because you would need to get alot of the cast back, also to show him meeting the oracle it would have to be the first model of the Oracle and the actress has died, getting someone who sounds like her is easier then trying to get someone who looks like her.

IMO an anime story of Seraph would be the best it would also be the best for continuity as they WB might have more luck getting some of the cast members back to do voices instead of playing the roles again.

I cant believe I just forgot that she died:confused: . It could be how she got freed and take place far before she met Neo.

Shes a bland character IMO, I wouldnt want to see anything dedicated to her.

I was surfing the web and saw an interview by Joel Silver and he claimed they still have a hell of a lot more plans for the matrix trilogy in the distant future.

spiderman_2k

If they did it wont involve live action films, unless the W.Bros/Siblings decide to make another one or Warner continues the franchise without them.

Sometime in the futue they should come out with a visual dictionary like those Star Wars books explaining all the gadgets, locations, rankings, ect. ect. If you have seen those dictionarys then you would probably agree with me.

books to explain is a good idea and could be interesting if written by wachoaskis themselves but no more movies imo !!

I agree with no more movies but I just read a interview with Joel Silver and he said the Wchowskis want to make 2 more video games after The Matrix Online. One would revolve around Seraph and the other around Niobe and Morpheus.

To be honest, after the third and disappointing Revolutions, my interest in The Matrix series has almost completely faded. And I really, really loved the first and second films. But after being let down by Revolutions, I could care less for any more Matrix stuff.

On the other hand, Star Wars still holds great appeal. At least they probably won't leave any plot holes and even so, most has already been explained anyhow. And Episode III simply looks and sounds fantastic so far!

I dont think they are going to make any more movies just because no one will see/buy them. Even if it is about Seraph it wont make a lot of money. Even if it doesnt come out on theaters, no one will even know/care if its one of those crappy B movies that you see in Wal-Mart with all the others ones you havent heard of.

This is what I want. I want two movies( a duology like Kill Bill) that occur after Revolutions, a Neo video game for PS2, XBox, and GC, and a Seraph book series that tells the story of his past( and his conflicts with the Merovingian). That's what I want.

Yes. Its right here. http://www.darkworlds.com/ls/art_12165.html (http://www.darkworlds.com/la/art_12165.html) If it does not show up then go to darkworlds.com and under Hot Zones click the matrix. You will see something that says NEWS: Silver talks MATRIX games. Its not long and was written Nov. 13 2003 so its not dated. Joel Silver claims there will be no more movies but that the franchise will live on through video games. He explains that in the new Matrix Online game that Niobe and Morpheus will have key parts in the story. He also claims that Enter The Matrix 2 will be about Seraph and his backround.

What I said early about 2 more video games was actually from a different interview which I had difficulties finding again.

Actually, I enjoyed the Star Wars prequels sans one Jar-Jar Binks. And the difference between SW and Matrix is that SW is not going to leave us going "huh? What?" after many long scenes of goobledegook.

Ergo, vis-a-vie concordantly systemic anomaly and all that and barely an explanation of anything.

The movie would have been better titled "Revelations" and given us some kind of explanation after all this.

Can't we just agree they both sucked? Reloaded was good and in Clone wars we see Natalie Portman so they both had highs and lows. The Matrix should have stopped at one and maybe its just me, but as for Star Wars, I think trilogies should be stopped at three. Just my opinion.

I think there would be plenty of stuff for the real world and a lot for the matrix. It may not be as big as Star Wars but I think its big enough. If you go to thematrix.com and go to the zion archives under mainframe then you will see how much matireal there is. The zion archives could easily be made into a book.

exactly Sahkir. My dad remembers all this talk over the mid 80's to early 90's of every fan wanting to see the rise of Vader, what he was like, etc: and now they complain and wish it never been made

I liked Reloaded and Revolutions, but they were disappointing sequels to The Matrix and I really don't want to see anymore films, even though Revolutions didn't give the saga a great ending.

As for The Prequel Trilogy, the films hve been great to me and I think Episode III will be fantastic.

If the wachowskis don't do a commentary on the movies i will not buy the box set!

More Animatrix stuff would be nice and more games. Another movie is pretty much out of the question unless they made a movie about how the war originally started. Even then i don't think they should do it.

Andrey83

If they ever make a movie about the matrix again, it should be about that "the matrix". Not some borring battle in Zion. It should be the matrix.

neo5595
06-08-2004, 02:06 PM
Two things. One. The zion battle was not boring. Two. The main plot of the matrix is the one and his path through the matrix. the machines coming to zion and the battle is just a subplot. Its just up to the one to decide whether zion lives or not.

yeah, i can see that some likes it that way. But personally i didnt enjoy that part if you know what i meen (the zion battle). The thing I always liked was when they where inside the matrix. (except the super-burly brawl). This is just me :)

Also today, a friend of The Bits e-mailed us last night with a link to the message boards at Spawn.com. Seems one of the moderators there let slip that Todd McFarlane himself has just been interviewed for The Matrix Trilogy DVD box set. Although sources have been telling us that it was in production for some time now, this is the first public confirmation we've seen. Here's the relevant quote from the post:

"Today, in this very office... actually at this very moment, Todd is sitting down to do an interview for the upcoming DVD boxed set of The Matrix Trilogy (scheduled to be released sometime this winter). While I don't have all of the details regarding Todd's involvement, I do know that the segment in which he will be appearing revolves around the history of action films. For more specifics you'll either have to wait until I have more info to share with you, or you'll have to pick up the boxed set, but until then, here's a photograph of the set, which is decorated with a wide assortment of our Matrix action figures..."

I will still buy it, but it will kinda suck with no wachowski commentary. I will still listen to any other kind of commentary though, but lets not jump to conclusion like me and lots of other people are doing.
