I dont know if something like this had been started before, so if it has i am sure nobody will respond. But if not great, i am wanting the year that is in recent history so please dont come in here and say that there was none. So lets say in about the past ten years and i didnt want to make a poll just incase it was eleven years ago and everyone started saying that my year selection sucked.

So what was the best year of movies in about the last 10 years?

Well, I'm 16 so I don't really remember much past a couple of years ago . . .

But last year (2003) really stuck out for me, a great summer of movies and a great fall/winter of movies as well . . .

I guess just the best year that you can remember then, but not very much farther then about 10 years ago.

Two great years and the films that made my 200 favorite films list:

'94 - The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Three Colors: Red, Leon, The Lion King, Interview with the Vampire, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Ed Wood.

'99 - The Insider, Magnolia, The Green Mile, Fight Club, Toy Story 2, Being John Malkovich, The Iron Giant, Toy Story, South Park: BL&U, Notting Hill, The Straight Story, The Sixth Sense, All About My Mother, Three Kings, Eyes Wide Shut, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (I know, I know)

Though '99 has a longer list of films I like, the first four from '94 are so high up on my list, it definitely is competition.

Its really hard to judge which year had better movies.

I think its easier to say which year was the worst?

1993 was the best (gah, someone had to say eleven years ago)

Yeh 1993 with Jurasic park, and ....um...um... Mrs Doubtfire yep '1993.

Actually 1993 was quite a good vintage

Jurassic Park, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Fugitive, Sleepless in Seattle, The Pelican Brief, Schindler's List Free Willy, Philadelphia, Groundhog Day Grumpy Old Men, Cool Runnings, Dave Demolition Man, Last Action Hero, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hot Shots! Part Deux, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story and The Beverly Hillbillies,

2003 year of the sequel? 1993 had Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, Beethoven's 2nd, Addams Family Values, Wayne's World 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III and Hot Shots Part Deux beat that.

I agree with PsYkOoOoO its easier to argue which was the worst (most years have some really good movies)

edit http://movies.go.com/boxoffice/1985.html top 50 films highest grossing films of each year from 2002-1985 and 1985 was another good year.
