^^What did that got to do with it???

That would be like "does anyone know when scarface will be out"

"there are other good gangster film besides Scarface"

....? So?

he probably wanted to see hero ;)

And yes, they will release a region 1 dvd. But probably a time after the cinema release.

Wow. I've already got the Chinese 2-disc edition of "Hero", but I've just preordered the Ultimate 3-disc Korean edition - for just under 40 bucks. Take a look at this:

Classy. And hey, it's NTSC. With English subtitles. I'm so importing that.

I hope the features are subtitled, though.

The Insider

Well, the original Chinese 2-disc version looked good and sounded terrific, and that was in NTSC format, so it's been available for a long time (I got the 2-disc release ages ago).
I'll report back as soon as I get the DVD, as to whether or not the bonus-features are subtitled.

no its not just talk, they have been planning it for awhile, there is just no release date yet.

DROIDGUY-i own about 30 foreign films and of those 30 not one of them have english subtitles on the special features.

and if you ask me that 3 disc set is so not worth it, there doesnt sound like anything that great with the special features, i already own two versions of it and they have more than enough stuffon them, i dont need something thats just a bit more fancy looking for 40 bucks.

Well, I know of one disc that has foreign English Subtitles -- and I really want it -- it being Battle Royale, the Tartan release from the UK.

So, while the chances are slim...

i bought my second copy for $6 including subtitles and it is dvd 9 and has great special features, not to mention the over is way better than that. just to let you guys know.

also smart as...i mean andrey ;)i dont any of those except BotW and i forgot about the subs, anyways the majority of them dont have them, but now that i think about it more do than i thought so you never know droidguy. also for the record if you havent seen battle royale you shouldnt buy it first, i for one didnt like it, but your taste is different then mine so who knows, also just a heads up :

UZUMAKI came out on dvd tuesday, it is a Japanese horror film that is considered to be one of the wierdest films ever made, but what makes it so interesting is that it is apparantley good too. its about a seaside town that is engulfed with people that become entranced/obsessed with spiral objects, which is also the english tital (spiral) you guys might want to check it out.

I sold my 2-disc version a few days ago. I'm expecting the Korean 3-disc version to arrive tomorrow, along with the Scandinavian R2 PAL release, which should feature the best Hero DVD-transfer available.

Pshh. I have some skills but they pale in comparison to your ability to juggle DVD releases. Plus I still don't have a multi-region player, or a PAL-NTSC converter, so I'm left in the dust in some areas.

Did anybody dispute that? Besides, about 95% of DVDs released in the last couple of years are DVD-9's (a.ka. single-sided dual-layered discs). Because it makes it possible to store a lot of material on a DVD-9 doesn't mean that it's necessarily in "good quality".

I bought mine off of Ebay for $5 bucks plus shipping. I had to figure out where the English subtitles were but it is all good now. I wasn't waiting until the American release.

The Insider

Just watched the American-release trailer. Horrible! Not only does it contain SEVERAL (often major) spoilers, but it makes the movie look like a straightforward action-movie - just another Jet Li movie in a chinese setting.

I got the cheap version as well, espwolverine. Didn't notice the thing about the DTS tracks (besides, I've already got two versions of the movie on DVD, both of them with excellent DTS (as well as DD5.1) tracks), but just got the cheap one, because the "limited edition" didn't look worth the extra cash.

That would be sad, sure, but that means there'll be just 20 minutes I won't "get", and that's okay. I'm just dying to see it, that's all :)
