Is anyone else looking forward to this? From all aspects it seems pretty promising.

I'm pumped. Never thought i'd see the day when the good Doctor was once again back on our TV screens.
What are poeple's thoughts: Should the daleks come back? The Cybermen? Should any old enemy return at all?

I definitely would like to see the Cybermen. They were my favorites and I always thought better villians than the Daleks. If the Daleks come back they should make them a little different I think. I also think they should have a different enemy than the master. Maybe bring back the Rani.

The rumours are that the Autons will be back and possibly the Cybermen. They are also in talks to get the rights to the Daleks (at the moment they can't even show Dalek episodes on TV).
The Master I think has had it as a character. Really, how many times can he joing up with some alien species to conquer the universe only to have them turn against him? As for the Rani, well she was only in two stories - Mark of the Rani, and Time and the Rani - I think that is enough to justify keeping her away.
The writers seem intent on creating new monsters and villians to fighter anyway. Which the show must have if it is to succeed.

I agree. I wonder if they will redesign the inside of the Tardis as well.
Inferno

I'm sure they will, but keep a similar looking console. But I don't think they can have the same look from the TVM. The often forgot to make a hat stand fall over in the Tom Baker years when the TARDIS was shaking, imagine trying to make all those books and furniture move!

lol yeah. I remember that for awhile Tom Baker's doctor had a vintage looking console. I wonder if they'l just have the doctor use another room or something.

Thanks for the info. She looks great for the part.
I also heard the Autons might be one of the first villians.

Really? I know I lot of the newer ones have a ton of extras including commentary. Check out the BBC site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/dvd/index.shtml) for details of the DVDs.
But who is the Dr?
Christopher Eccleston. Check out his IMDB listing (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001172/).

They always have TV shows now. Mind you the details for the shows are so pathetic. You can't just rate a show overall, you have to rate individual seasons or even episodes. It's mainly there just so you can see what TV work a particular movie star has done.

*ENGAGING SMUG MODE*
I've actually read 3 of the new scripts including the first episode - I have to say that they're classic Dr Who material and that Christopher Eccleston will be fantastic in the role of the Dr.
They are meant to start filming in London on July 4th for some location shots, but a lot of the interiors and incidental locations will be shot here in South Wales. I've been trying to get work on the project but the producer seems to want to send most of the work to London which I have my own opinions about.
The Tardis will be redesigned as far as the interior goes (it's been through a fair few in it's time, another one won't hurt it :) ) - and the description in the scripts is an interesting concept.
I'd love to be able to blab about more, but alas my balls would be on a plate by the Beeb if I did. Suffice to say that some of the suggestions here are pretty much on the mark, others probably aren't.

Thanks for the information!!!
Can you say whether any old villians will be back? Or how the Doctor's personality will be portrayed?

There's been no confirmed word on who will broadcast it in the States, but it probably won't be PBS.

On the plus side, this means that the new show will have even more reason to develop their own monsters and bad guys, rather than relying on cliches of the past.
