Let's try this again.

New Weekend Warrior is up for the week with looks at the five new movies opening in wide release including Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan, Envy with Ben Stiller and Jack Black, Godsend with Robert DeNiro and Rebecca Romjin, Laws of Attraction with Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan, and Stroke of Genius, a golfing movie starring "Jesus" Caviezel. A very full weekend to end up the spring movie season.

Questions? Comments? This is the place to put them as well as your own predictions for the weekend.

Enjoy!

I disagree with you on about everything here!

I dont think there is anyway 13 going on 30 will be #1.

I think Mean Girls will be #1.

Laws of Attraction might be in the top 5 because of the cast, and they are always advertising it on television.

Godsend i am not really sure about. Its got a good cast, but i havnt heard many good things about it.

I wouldnt be suprised if Envy came in 2nd. No matter how bad it is the Black and Stiller fan base are going to flock to this one (and then call it the funniest movie ever:rolleyes: ) .

And what is Bobby Jones? I have heard about it but i havnt seen any advertisement about it. I dont think that many of the mainsteam audience is going to see this.

And i dont think Tarintino Fanboys are going to let kill bill out of the top 5.

1. Mean Girls - 18-20mil
2. Envy - 13-15mil
3. 13 Going on 30 - 10mil
4. Man on Fire - 8mil
5. Kill Bill - 6mil
6. Laws of Attraction - 5mill
7. Godsend - 4.5mil
8. Home On The Range - 4mil
9. Punisher - 3mil
10 Scooby-Doo 2 - 2mil

Thanks for the input, doc! Yeah, Mean Girls looks like it has the potential to surprise and at this point it's so close ($12 million to Man on Fire's $12.5 and 13 Going on 30'' $13.5...at least as far as my estimates <G>)..that it only needs a couple hundred more theatres to make $14 million plus. i think expecting $18 million plus is a bit unrealistic with the only star being LIndsay Lohan (Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen only made $9 million and that was the same movie!!! With DIsney backing no less!)

OH, also, I think a 50% dropoff for 13 Going on 30 with the amount of buzz and great reviews it's getting is doubtful. Ditto Man on Fire. I think they're both strong enough to sustain their business for a second weekend...the rest of the movies look like crap and I don't think America is buying it this time. (REmember what happened over Easter when five movies were shoved out there?)

I'm really not sure about Stroke of Genius..I wish I knew more golf players to ask if they've heard of it. The marketing is definitely under the radar for those who don't I think. Might end up lowering that as we get closer to Friday.

I don't know. I do not think enough people have heard about Mean Girls to have it make #1 this weekend. And Godsend? Rebecca RS has gotten so much buzz after her recent split with Uncle Joey.....I have been seeing Envy ads a lot on tv too - I bet it will make top 3.

I have been seeing Mean Girls t.v. spots everywhere on t.v. And the cast has been promoting it on all the talk shows.

And i dont think the actors personal life matters about the Box Office.

Well, personal life stuff did badly affect GIGLI <G>...but I think that the personal life stuff won't matter here...the bad movie/acting will though. (The ten minute clip was awful and the one they've been showing on her television apperances is even worse.) If Frailty--a great movie!--didn't do well, I'd be very sad if this does much better.

Hey, wutical...are you the guy who picked Man on Fire to be #1 last week? If so, nice job!! I think we'll all be a bit more careful underestimating Denzel next time! :)

Nothing but crap this weekend.

Yeah, I think that pretty much sums it up. I think that's why Man on Fire or 13 GOing on 30 could be #1 again.

How could anybody think Envy will make it into the Top 5? The ads show next to nothing (possibly because, as I understand it, there's nothing funny to show), and the buzz stinks like dog poo.

This is going to be like Easter, where there are a bunch of so-so movies, landing at various low places in the Top 10. Except maybe "Mean Girls," which could take the top spot.

And what is this "Stroke of Genius" movie?

So the Weekend Warrior has been updated, and yet I see only one big change - Mean Girls taking the top spot. The other new movies should be much farther down in the top 10, and that "Bobby Jones" movie shouldn't even make the cut, unless I'm the only person that hasn't seen any promotion for it?

Envy was kinda funny imho. I was in a goofy mood and with a bunch of friends and we laughed our way through it. You cannot take the movie seriously....and do not bet on any awards, but I liked it.
