Ok, as good as it was, “Terminator 3 : Rise of the Machines” was no “T2”, nor “T1”. It just didn’t have the same feel as the first two movies, and well, felt a little too short.

TheArnoldFans.com are reporting that “Terminator 3” might be headed back to theatres and with 40 to 50 minutes of additional footage. It’s a rather tricky deal, so let them explain:

“I have had a few phone calls and dozens of emails with Chad Campbell to discuss the quite possible reality of bringing Terminator 3 back to the theaters done to perfection. Inspired by T3 director, Jonathan Mostowąs earlier words, saying if he had another $50 million dollars in the budget, he could have given the fans the ultimate film, Chad felt Mostow needed some immediate support! If tens of thousands of fans unite, we can show the film studio how serious we are and that we would pay big money to see the film again in the theaters with these additional scenes.

Chad has managed not to step on Jonathan Mostow's shoes and will not interfere with his artistic vision. Other than changing Johnąs age back to the correct age and modifying a couple of dates, we can respect Mostowąs work. Do not fear Mostow, Campbell wants to only insert additional scenes including big action sequences and a few character development scenes. Best of all, there will be a wild final battle loaded with new action as well as MANY additional surprises.

On December 18th 2003, Chad conceived of the idea Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines Special Edition or as he nicknamed it T3.5. Chad Campbell sat down and listened to all the fans complaints, including his and my own. Chad watched T3 on DVD hundreds of times to analyze it, and figure out how to make this the ultimate film.

The possibility of making this truly happen is not lost. We have passed Chadąs T3.5 script proposal onto some of our good Hollywood inside sources. One high-powered Hollywood legend says Chadąs script was "Phenomenal" and plans to take it to some "other Terminator people."

Chad tells TheArnoldFans: "What I have decided to do with T3.5 is make an Extended Edition much like "Lord of the Rings", but what makes this project so unique, is the fact that we will go back and film an additional 40-50 minutes of footage. This footage would be re-inserted into the Theatrical Version of "Terminator 3" without much change to the Theatrical Version. Of course the age/date mistakes will be changed. What will be added in this version? Well, I really donąt want to spoil any of it or show it to anyone because I donąt think WB wants everyone to know if this gets green lit. In my 44 page script, there is much description of the story, filling in plot holes and making everything make sense. Best of all, we get to have two great new action sequences including one in the future and a great final battle at the end of the film.

We, with out a doubt, will require your help to sign TheArnoldFans.com's official T3.5 petition. TAFs has many connections so I can get the script to the Producers and other T3 people. However, the problem is getting them to take it seriously. In order for them to understand, they need to see tens of thousands of names on the petition showing your support. Fans from all over the world must unite for this one!

When Chad Campbell first pitched T3.5 to me, I must admit, I thought he was being quite the dreamer. But after I read his 44 page script of the newly inserted scenes, he made me drool for what will surely make T1 and T2 look like Red Sonja compared to Conan the Barbarian. My own personal biggest complaints with T3 were these three issues: 1. Lack of an exciting future war opening sequence, 2. The Terminator is not a terminator. He is AGAIN good without a single kill. 3. There was no big finale battle to make audiences roar with excitement. The T-850 and the TX should have battled at least 5 minutes before the TX was terminated. Chad Campbell, with a little help from yours truly, put these NEEDED scenes back in (plus many other additional action and character development shots for Terminator perfection).

Just two weeks ago, Terminator 3 producer, Mario Kassar told me "The most important thing is to create the best possible story for the Terminator fans." Arnold and Terminator fans everywhere should be anxious for the producers to back up their statement with the fan's release of "Terminator 3.5: The Rise of the Fans."

TheArnoldFans' King Conan petition reached well over 10,000 signatures. Before Schwarzenegger stepped into the Govinator's shoes, he told many people that he would do King Conan based on the popular petition found here. John Milius and his staff told TAFs that "King Conan: Crown of Iron" was going to happen thanks to us. Petitions DO work...as long as the fans are ballsy enough to act.”

You can sign the T3.5 petition here (http://www.petitiononline.com/t850/petition.html)

Meantime, as Moviehole reported last week, there are whispers that a “Terminator 4” might be setting it’s sights on shoot date of first quarter 2005, with Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly contacted about making an appearance near the film’s ‘end’. And no, The Rock apparently won’t be headlining it - it’ll be a Stahl/Danes affair. A second source confirmed this rumble this week, saying that whilst it's again 'only talk' there are rumours that Arnold might be freeing up some time in the New Year to do a couple of days work for the film. I'm with y'all - a "T4" with only a sequence or so featuring the big guy, just doesn't sound that enticing does it?

Sounds like a risky idea...It is true that T3 fell far short of the 2 original Terminators.

I like the idea of putting in an epic future war battle.

Rayzor: If you are reffering to spidy you should know that it wasnt he who wrote it....

But i like the idea. I meen, t3 could have been cool, but instead it wasnt. Add 50 mins back in and i think it could go back to being cool....

T3 definitely isn't a movie that gets better with repeat viewings. T2 is just as cool now as it was when I first saw it when I was 10. I tried to watch T3 on DVD the other day and just cringed at some parts.

It was ok imo. The thing is it could have been so much more. I meen, the director said he couldnt have it longer because of the budget???? WHAT. One of the most expencive movies of all time, and thats your excuse?

Should have been longer, better carracted dev, better dialoge, and some cooler action shots... (all the good things was in the trailer so there was nothing new when i saw the movie......)

I felt T3 was had an overly contrived, lacking any of the heart that the first two had. It was too much of the traditional summer action blockbuster, while the first two trandescended that label.

i liked it. but some dialouge was cheesy though. i really liked the action in it:D so looks like i'll be joining droidguy in line...

Please, they'd have to get millions of handwritten signatures mailed to them in order to convince them to do this. A studio spending $50 million based on a couple ten thousand people's ticket prices? That's the worst investment ever.

If this is ever somehow done, it won't have anything to do with a measly online petition. Not sure how it could be done with Arnold in office either.

Now that I look at T3, I see what could have been improved. Although it had great action and kept me entertained, it lacked what made T2 so great: the dark atmosphere. T3 had way too much daylight sequences and it didn't feel dark like T2 and T1. Either way I thought it was worthy sequel.

I don't know why, but I feel like T3 was a prelude to the first matrix, whereas T1 and T2 was more........indefinte if that is the right word.

If this is true, and this really does happen, it could make T3 suck alot less. Especially if they added a final battle, i mean it just needed one.

I really don't mind the idea, terminator 3 was no good IMO. Cameron should have been onboard of this project from the start.

Yeah attatching such a no-name director like Mostow was a bad idea in the first place, the 'Terminator' name at least should have been able to attract someone more equipped to handle the movie.

Why Did mostow change the age in the first place hey? Big action scenes - if i was mostow i would be offended - what was wrong with the big crane chase?

Mostow made a well knowing tribute to the previous terminator films - it just lacked an inspired story.

I still say to anyone who dislikes T3...

James Cameron liked it. So...whatever. :p
