Well, since these are popular right now, I'll jump on the bandwagon as well. I'd appreciate any feedback, but just remember, this is a PERSONAL top 25 list. Not a "definitive" top 25 list . . .

Pics are not distracting.
Why are people down on pics all of a sudden ?

Kind of bland without them, imo.

When they copy and paste them when they do their review it's kinda sucky but for the guy doing the list I think it's fine.

^ What are you talking about? Kill Bill is unbelieveable, I am an LOTR fan through and through, nothing will be better to me than that, but Kill Bill is another film that has so much art in it, bloody yes, gory yes, uneccesary, yes, but done with passion and style? Definetly.

It's the flavour of the month. Personally, I think you should never put a movie in your top 25 list if it was released in last 3 years. Otherwise you're too influenced by what you've seen most recently and often such movies are not as good on subsequent viewings.

I don't think thats true at all, all the movies I love, I loved right away, and never changed my mind. I know what movies I love, whether I saw them the night before or 10 years ago. And I know that Kill Bill will be one of my favorites forever. My proof is that I never really got into any of Quentin's movies. I always thought them to have too much death and pointless violence and that is basically the description of Kill Bill, yet I love it and I don't know why. Mark of a great movie IMO.

Wow. What a list. Anyways, I do agree with holding off a bit, but not three years, more like three months. If you still like it as much after three months as you did right after you saw it, then go ahead and put it on.

Kil Bill Suffered from a talky Volume 2 but it's still a good movie , Would have been great if it were edited better and kept as one film.
Certainly not a # 1 film, but this is a personal list so to each his own.

J/K , there is quite a few new ones in there tho.

I'm sure Kill Bill will be bumped when Sky Captain and Van Helsing get released.;)

Actually he went a bit overboard on the dialogue.
A lot of it was forced The Superman Speech was out of the blue and only put there so we'd know Tarantino is still cool with the pop culture stuff..

I loved the film , don't get me wrong but too much dialogue can be overkill.imo.
I still feel it could have been edited better and released as one film.

Btw , Are you saying I'm not a true movie fan ?

no your a movie fan, but i mean if you look at the film i see many people bashing it for no action, but there are those who thought comeleting the movie with character developments and deeper story made it a great film
any way i rated it as one big film

I would never bash Kill Bill and I agree with you on rating it as one film because it is.
And when we have the 2 Volumes on DVD it will be that much better a film when viewed at the same time.

But Dear lord no , I would never bash Quentin.
Just sometimes he can get a bit talky.
Which I don't mind if it's relevant but a bit of Vol. 2 could have been chopped.
Possibly Madsen's bar scene , we already knew he was a loser , I felt that scene was waste of time.

All of these trilogies/sagas/etc., were meant to be viewed as one film, so your rating for Star Wars wouldn't really apply here. And I don't hate Connery persay, I just like Brosnan more . . .

I take it Batman is the exception ;)

Tornado, your list is full of good movies - I like them all (except signs)

I will say this though - its full of nothing but generic holywood blockbusters. Maybe you need to diversify a bit.

Yeah,i dont like the list, though i love most of the movies. Some are just not worthy enough to be in Top 25.But thats me.

LordofKings
04-23-2004, 09:44 AM
why is it that blockbusters are not worthy to be in a TOP 25 LIST? why is that? i think a lot of that "OLD CRAP" that everyone thinks you need to like to have good film taste shouldn't be there. Some of these "blockbusters" have much better art in the films.

I think a film should be:
1)entertaining above all else (if im spending this muh money, i want to be entertained)
2)well done of course (good acting, directing, ect)
3)have appeal (yes appeal to the general audience) and great visual style
4) emotion, depth and creativity

alot of the "OLD FILMS" may have been done well (i personally don't think so, as i hate the acting of the "golden years") but the "old films" don't entertain me for a second. They bore the hell out of me. To me they are uncreative and very unentertaining.

I think what people mean is that a lot of lists have movies on them that are still playing in theatres now.
I mean give the film time to enter your senses at least a few months maybe.

I mean people listing Punisher in Top 25 lists ?????

Yes , it's personal preference but I have seen over 30 some odd films so far theatrically this year , maybe more and I don't even think Punisher would be in the top 25 best I've seen thus far out of those particular films.

again to each his own but that's pushing it

Tornado
04-23-2004, 04:59 PM
Well, the reason I put the Punisher is because I couldn't think of my real #25, Dogma at that particular moment . . .

Nah, I don't need to "diversify". I have seen a lot of old films, and I just don't like them. I see what I see, I like what I like . . .

While a valid point, I completely disagree. If you see a fantastic film today, then you should put it where you think it belongs, not where you think other people want to see it . . .
